Chapter 496: Chapter 494: DINNER DATE 2

"That would be great!" Diamond responded enthusiastically, looking forward to receiving another gift.

Lady Aumbrey smiled politely at her, loving how Diamond always reacted to her words every single time.

"You will definitely like it, trust me!"

"I believe you."

The two ladies ate their food with gusto as they chatted, and after spending more than an hour doing so, they finally left the restaurant and headed to the hotel’s club, where they were going to continue with their night.

Sitting inside a private booth with cocktails in hand, listening to jazz music, Diamond and Aumbrey continued from where they left off after dinner.

"Is the farm business doing well? There has been an issue with rain and water this year. A lot of farm businesses have been affected. We were facing the same problem as well, with the vineyards!" Lady Aumbrey asked curiously.

She was really curious about knowing this matter. It wasn’t just about the people that she represented, but for herself.

Diamond smiled as she looked ahead, her eyes squinting as she looked at a couple dancing slowly to the music, digesting the question that she had been asked before answering. "I can say that so far, it’s going well. I guess I was lucky to buy a farm with a huge dam and many water tanks. Since the farm relies on irrigation more, I don’t need to worry much about the fain matter.

If it doesn’t rain, then I guess I will just reduce the output and concentrate on other business. There is nothing that we can do about this matter. I heard that even next year will be the same, hah!" releasing a sigh at the end, at the thought of this drought lasting two years.

Lady Aumbrey nodded her head. Indeed, when having a farm, having damns, or being near rivers or lakes could be a huge advantage. Despite the rain refusing to fall; underground, there would be water. As long as people know how to use it appropriately, then the water will last for a long time.

"Indeed, you are lucky. But I can’t say luck as such but rather your foresight is pretty good. People should think ahead when planning these business adventures!" Lady Aumbrey sincerely praised Diamond for her good investment prospect.

When Diamond heard that, she couldn’t help but smile shyly at getting the praise that wasn’t hers to begin with.

If the system didn’t give her that farm, she wouldn’t have bothered entering the farming industry. The system pushed her into the industry, thankfully. She loved it so much and being part of the people who actually bring food to the table for many people made her feel like she was doing her part in society.

Rubbing her nose shyly, she responded to the other, her eyes lowering, "You flatter me too much."

Lady Aumbrey burst into laughter upon seeing Diamond’s reaction and after a while she replied, "Just stating the truth," amusement written all over her face.

Diamond beamed at the other, feeling quite happy to have spent time with the woman.

Seeing that Diamond was in a good mood still, Lady Aumbrey decided to continue hitting the iron whilst it was still hot and asked, "So, did you come here for business?" very curious about that matter.

She still remembered how she was assigned to investigate Diamond a while ago and then recently she was told to get on the plane to Gesalsi. Diamond had just booked her flight there.

Curious about what she was up to, she was sent.

Diamond shook her head as she released a long sigh.

"I am here for pleasure or rather to have a breather," she dejectedly replied, recalling why she even came on the trip in the first place.

When Lady Aumbrey heard that, her eyes quivered, as she had an inkling that there was a story hiding there and whatever it was, it wasn’t good.

"Did something happen back home?"

Diamond didn’t respond immediately but reached out for her cocktail, raised the glass and took several sips, smacked her lips in satisfaction before putting the glass back.

"It’s a long story!" she replied shortly after as she looked at Lady Aumbrey.

"I have all the time in the world. I am a good listener," Lady Aumbrey responded.

Diamond grinned at the other, finding her a bit too interested in her stories. But it was people like these that she loved. At least someone who comes to her directly to see information is better than someone who uses despicable means to achieve his or her goals.

"Hehe, as long as you don’t get bored by my story, then I am already!"

"I won’t get bored. You never know. By sharing your story with someone, you can get some solutions to your problems. People tackle problems differently after all," Lady Aumbrey replied as she swirled the glass of cocktail in her hand lazily.

Diamond looked at the other for a while without reacting before she burst into hearty laughter, something in her eyes shining brightly as if she had found a solution already.

"Lady Aumbrey, your words are truly inspiring. I won’t waste much time anymore and share the story. You will truly find it intriguing." her eyes sparkled as she said that, curious to see what kind of reaction she would make.

Lady Aumbrey’s reaction was going to determine her next course of action. She better not let her use Andrea’s power to find out who she really was, who she was working for, and why she was doing all of this.

Lady Aumbrey, unaware that she was this close to getting herself exposed, and that she had been suspected from the very second, became buddy-buddy and started listening to Diamond’s story with vigor.

This was something that she couldn’t even learn from online or from the people who claimed to be closer to Diamond.

There were certain stories that only the individual in question knew. Unless she or he opens her or his mouth and spills the beans willingly, those stories would remain locked up, and remain as secrets.

It was these kinds of secrets that she was here to unveil and she sincerely hoped to learn something useful.

That way, she would have something worthwhile to report to the higher-ups when she returns.

She was a woman on the clock, and the clock was ticking.
