"Aaaah! M-My lady! Y-Your dress!"

I'm going to get scolded. Or even worse, they'll make I pay for it! What should I do? What should I do?! As the apprentice trio panicked and screamed, the commotion must have reached someone's ears.

"What's all the commotion?"

The second-highest-ranking servant in the household, the butler, appeared. The trio felt the blood drain from their faces. What do we do? The more they thought about being fired and burdened with debt, the less they could find the words to explain. Just as the butler was about to enter the room assigned to Thenesis, before the trio could even bow their heads in apology…

"What's all the racket?"

A quiet but young boy's voice drifted from behind the butler.

It was Lody, Thenesis's elder brother.

For some reason, even before being taught to speak, Thenesis understood language. Seeing the young boy standing beside the butler, she instantly recognized him as her brother.

Thenesis, still being carried by the guard of the apprentice trio, asked to be put down. The apprentices trio were in a panic at the situation, so without thinking, the apprentice guard gently lowered Thenesis.

Instantly, Thenesis darted toward her brother. The butler instinctively moved to shield Lody, but Thenesis was just a fraction faster.

"Mi Dee Budder!"

She called out, her face beaming with a wide smile. Lody, who had already grown to despise his younger sister, merely cast her a cold glance in response.

It's all her fault Father only cares about work and ignores me.It's all her fault Mother does nothing but grieve and ignores me.

I wish she had never been born.

With these thoughts, he averted his gaze, trying to pretend she didn't exist… or at least, trying to. But…

"Me Dee Budder, lets pway!"

Thenesis tugged on her brother's sleeve, stopping him in his tracks. "Huh?" he responded, his eyes narrowing at her as if she were a strange creature. Seeing Lody's predicament, the butler rushed forward to pry Thenesis's hand from his sleeve. Children, however, have no restraint and little control over their strength. Thus, Thenesis easily overpowered the butler's careful attempts to avoid tearing the fabric. In other words, he couldn't dislodge her at all.

"H-hey, let go!"

Realizing the butler was failing, Lody grabbed his sleeve and yanked, trying to wrench it free. But Thenesis wasn't about to give up. Even after he repeatedly telling her to let go, Thenesis wouldn't let go. In the end, Lody shoved her away with all his might, finally reclaiming his sleeve. Despite the force of the shove sent Thenesis sprawling backward, her spine hitting the floor. But, as expected of a ducal house, even the carpet in her room was soft and plush with long pile, so she didn't feel hurt. Also, no injuries.

But, after Lody snapped out of his anger, he reached out to Thenesis, his face filled with concern as he checked her for injuries.

Ignoring Lody's concern, Thenesis burst into cheerful laughter.

"Wh-what are you laughing about?"

Feeling awkward because he had expected her to cry, not laugh.

"Cawz you so kine, Me Dee Budder!"

"K-kind? I'm not kind at all!"

"You are! You even checkin' if I owie!"

Lody fell silent, stung by her words.

"W-well, if you get hurt, you'll die! It's not like you're going to live long anyway!"

He blurted out, then immediately regretted it. I shouldn't be talking about death and short lifespans to such a young child, he thought.

Thenesis, unfazed, replied with a cheerful smile.

"Hmm… but, Me Dee Budder, I no die till I'm eight!"

Lody froze, utterly speechless.
