Single Spell Sorcerer-Chapter 142: Transcendents
Chapter 142: Transcendents
’The elasticity is definitely an issue,’ Jax thought as he spent some time with his new threads.
What was he supposed to do with threads that could easily be flexed away and get out of. If nothing, he understood these threads could not be used to bind anything that didn’t have a skin that was hot or corrosive.
’Feels like a very tiny usecase.’
Jax shrugged in the end. "I’m sure the other ones will be good."
At this time, Jax was also learning the Skill ’Navi Manipulation’ from Lucille, and was close to learning it fully, but there was still some time before he actually learned it. It was difficult to produce Navi outside of one’s body where there was no matter for it to travel through.
He had no doubt he would learn it soon, but sadly, it would have to wait for after the trial. After all, the trial was now days away from starting.

The two Requirements for the Trial – First to gather a Party of 5 members, and Second to reach the 1st Emerald Stage– had been fulfilled. So, it was time to register.
With their individual improvements made and the party dynamics solidified, the time came to leave Fang Heights. The city had served them well, but the trial registration was happening in Graymine City, and they couldn’t afford to delay.
The journey to Graymine took them through varied terrain, forest paths giving way to rolling hills, over a large river and then past another city before they arrived at the Fang Heights.
All of them marveled at the new city they had arrived in. Perhaps because of its importance as a registration city, the amount of people gathered there had the city packed full.
"So many," he said, staring at the towering buildings and bustling streets.
They made their way through the crowded streets, following the steady stream of other adventuring parties all heading in the same direction. The closer they got to the city center, the more diverse the crowds became. Jax spotted sorcerers of every specialization and warriors with weapons of different types.
"There," Lucille pointed ahead. "The Registration Center."
The name was quite literal as it was the center of the city. At the city’s heart lay a large glowing crystal orb the size of a room. There were groups of people lined up to move up to the orb.
They joined the queue of parties waiting to register. The process was surprisingly simple. Each party approached the orb together, placed their hands on its surface, and waited for it to accept or reject them.
After a while, it was their turn.
It was their turn.
The five of them approached the crystal orb together. Up close, Jax could see that its surface wasn’t smooth, and was covered in intricate patterns that seemed to shift and change as he looked at them.
They all placed their palms against the side of the orb, feeling its cool surface. The moment all five hands touched the crystal, it began to glow brighter. The patterns on its surface rearranged themselves, flowing like liquid light across the crystal’s form.
Suddenly, numerous information appeared before their vision. The information contained the list of all 5 of them with their names and Navi stage. They were all fitting the criteria.
The information then asked them to choose a leader.
"It should be me," Lucille said without waiting for the others to consult her.
Jax and Ning nodded without much thought. Lucille had been acting as the leader since there wasn’t someone else that could take her place. Roman was the only other person that had joined, and he definitely didn’t fit the criteria.
A leader needed to be calm and collected, and have enough understanding of the battle’s situation to give commands. The other four were far too immersed in the battle to see the whole picture.
The orb’s information reflected what they wanted and showed that Lucille would be the leader. When they all accepted, they received one last notification.
<Please insert the Name of your Party>
"A name?" Jax asked. "I wasn’t aware that was a requirement."
"I don’t think it is," Lucille said. "I think I know why they want it. What should we name ourselves?"
Ning had no suggestion. "I’m told I’m very bad at naming things, so I’ll leave it to you all."
Melayne and Roman gave some suggestions, but it didn’t stick. freewebnøvel.coɱ
Jax tried to think, but he couldn’t come up with any either.
Gemma suddenly spoke in his ears. "You have a party of 3 Ascendants. Why not name it something in line with that?"
"But what?" Jax asked.
Gemma didn’t answer.
Jax thought along those line, and came up with a name. "How about...Triscendants?"
"That’s not..." Melayne gave an awkward smile. The name simply wasn’t good at all. But both Ning and Lucille understood what he was going for.
"How about... the Transcendents?" Lucille asked in the end.
Immediately, they all loved it.
"Transcendents it is," Melayne said.
They wrote the name onto the orb when it asked. Once the name was inserted, they got their final notifications.
<Registration Complete>
<’Transcendents’ Party is registered for ’Monster Horde Trial’>
<You will all be teleported to the Trial arena in 1 day 8 hours and 28 minutes>
They stepped away from the orb, each of them feeling a strange tingling sensation where they had touched the crystal.
"That’s it?" Roman asked, looking back at the orb with uncertainty.
"That’s it," Jax confirmed. "Now we wait."
Just 30 more hours. That was all they had before it was time to enter the ’Monster Horde’ trial.
They found lodging in the city for the remaining time, each of them felt the weight of what was coming. The trial would test everything they had learned, everything they had built together as a party.
But for now, they were registered. They were ready.
The next phase of their journey was about to begin.
