Single Spell Sorcerer-Chapter 63: Lacking Sleep
Chapter 63: Lacking Sleep
Once fully rested, Jax wore his new tunic and continued on with the maze. With the 1-Star ticket acquired, he didn’t need to worry about failing to find any bosses by the time it all came to an end.
There were less than 4 days remaining at this point, so finding a ticket with 2-Star or higher would be quite difficult. He needed to hurry.
There was no basis on which he decided where he was going to go, so Jax went wherever his whims took him. He walked around for hours on end, spending just a few moments to rest.
He met 2 bosses along the way in the many hours he walked around the maze, but both of them were 1-Star Tickets, so he ended up skipping them. He didn’t have the time to spend fighting them.
However, as the entire day passed, Jax realized that if he didn’t stop somewhere safe to sleep, he was going to be too drowsy to do anything at all.
Navi helped one stay awake for much longer than a regular person, but even with that, Jax couldn’t keep walking around for an entire day. So, he quickly sought out a place to rest.
And no place was better than a boss room.
At this point, he would rather take on a 1-Star Ticket boss for the sake of having the room for him to rest in. Now, all Jax had to do was find one. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
He continued walking and after a while checked at the time again. There were only 2 days remaining now. He had been walking for a long time.
’I need to sleep,’ Jax thought. Without finding a boss, he was even ready to lay down on the side of the maze. Anything just to catch a wink.
Jax brought out a potion that would keep him awake for much longer now, but it was something he needed to take as a last resort. The potion gave one the energy they needed to stay awake, but at the end of it, it took away too much from them.
There was no exact number of hours that the potion would work on him, so he needed to be very careful as to when he was going to eat it. Just to be safe, he would have to wait for a day longer.
’I just need to get by as I am right now,’ Jax thought.
He continued on, trying to find any boss at all. His luck finally showed itself as he found a boss room. Only, it seemed to be occupied already.
Jax looked inside and saw two men laying next to the corpse of a large bird. They appeared wounded, with a 1-Star ticket floating above the beast, along with a few Navi stones.
Jax narrowed his eyes, confused. He could understand someone being too tired and going to sleep right after killing a boss, but this seemed to be a different case entirely. No one would let the loot hover around as they went to sleep.
Looking at it closer, Jax feared that these men were dead instead.
’They must have died right as they killed the boss,’ Jax thought. That was why they hadn’t gotten the chance to take the tickets.
Jax had thought of going elsewhere since there were people here, but upon noticing that these two were dead, it would be a waste to let such a nice place go to waste.
He didn’t even care about the ticket or the Navi stones. He truly only wanted to sleep.
Jax was way too tired to worry about sleeping next to corpses at this point, so he slowly walked in. He was glad to have found such a place where he didn’t even have to fight a boss to enter.
’I guess I’m quite lucky in that regard,’ Jax thought.
He wondered for a fleeting moment why he wasn’t being asked to give away his ticket to enter. That was what he was told was going to happen after all.
But a part of him understood that the ticket belonged to someone else already, so it wouldn’t count.
’But... it doesn’t belong to anyone, does it?’ Jax thought. The person who the ticket belonged to had died, so the ticket should have no owner.
Jax frowned at that moment as a series of questions surfaced in his buzzing mind, the biggest of which was a simple one.
Why had this place not disappeared when all people and monsters within it were dead?
The right answer was always the simplest one.
Not everything in here was dead.
Jax pulled the axe in his hand just as he saw a flash of light and a fireball came rushing toward him. He put up the flat side of the axe next to his body, but was a little too late. The fireball hit him half on the axe, and half on his chest, before sending him flying away.
Jax skidded along across the grass, stopping somewhere in the distance. He grunted in pain, but was thankful to not be hurt by the fire. The force of the attack had been reduced thanks to the Softshell Tunic he wore at that moment.
Jax got up, checking for fire on his body, but aside from some burn marks, there was nothing. He looked up and saw a man quickly circle around the boss’s arena, making his way toward the way out.
Instead of walking out, however, he stood by the entrance, a look of pure malice on his face.
"So I finally have my first warrior, huh?" the young man said. "No issue. A warrior should be much easier to kill than sorcerers."
Jax only belatedly realized that he had fallen into a trap.
He felt at his chest and thought of the attack. The force of it was most certainly from a Sorcerer. A warrior wouldn’t have nearly as strong a spell due to their lacking Navi quality.
Jax’s head still buzzed from lack of sleep, and with his life on the line here, he did not wish to take any chances. So, he quickly pulled out the sleep-relieving potion and drank it in one big gulp.
