Single Spell Sorcerer-Chapter 76: Rewards
Chapter 76: Rewards
Jax walked out of the registration circle and went over to a corner, the notification from earlier still ringing in his ears.
"Did you register? What did you get?" Gemma asked with contagious excitement.
"I’m not sure. It said I got a few things, but I don’t know what."
"Then check it," Gemma said. "What did you even get?"
"A skill and a gift box, apparently," Jax said. "Also, I can go back to the previous Carriage if I want to now."
"Oh yeah, anyone with a 2-Star or above ticket gets that. 1-Star gets the gift box, and honestly, I’m surprised you got the skill."
"Is that really surprising?" Jax asked.
"Well... Sorcerers are usually supposed to get Spells. It’s the Warriors that get Skills," she said. "But I suppose it took into account that you are restricted from learning any new spells and instead gave you a skill."
"I see. How do I check it? Just go into the Skill category, right?"
"Uh-huh."
Jax opened his status page.
[Ascendant Status:]
Name: Jax
Path: Mind
Navi Stage: 3-Star Opal
Highest Carriage: 9
Helper: T-1388C (Gemma)
Time Remaining: 180 Days
[SPELLS]
[SKILLS]
[INVENTORY]
[MAP]
[TICKETS]
[REQUIREMENTS]
[RESTRICTIONS]
Before even going to the Skills section, he stopped at the status, seeing the two changes.
The highest carriage had naturally changed to 9 now that he had arrived here. And, it now showed the time until the end of the next Trial as 6 months.
"Gemma, how long is the trial in this world?" he asked.
"There’s no definite number to them," she said. "Some last as few as 10 days, while some have even gone as high as 30 days."
"30?" Jax frowned. "Why does my status say I have 180 days then?"
"Oh, that’s not the duration remaining for the trial. That’s the duration remaining for you to register for the trials. Unlike Carriage 10, the 9th Carriage’s trial is slightly more competitive, so you have to register for it beforehand."
"Huh. I should register for it right away then," Jax said. "How do I do that?"
"You can’t do it whenever you want to," Gemma said. "Remember what I said about there being Requirements for the rest of the Carriages? You will find one for Carriage 9."
Jax narrowed his eyes. He wanted to check his skills, but the Requirements concerned him a little. He quickly opened the category and saw what was inside.
Requirements to enter the 9th trial, Monster Defense:
Reach 1-Star Emerald Stage.
Form a Party of 5
Jax raised an eyebrow. "1-Star Emerald Stage?" he asked. "What’s that stage? Is it after the 5-Star Opal stage?"
"Yes. You’ll need to go up a stage 3 more times to even be eligible to enter the next Trial."
"That’s... quite high. And I have to find 4 others to join me in my party? I don’t know if I can do all of that in just 6 months."
Six months was a lot of time, but it wasn’t near enough to what he thought he would require. Finding people to be part of his Party would be the most difficult requirement now that he was really thinking about it.
"People search for parties all the time. It won’t be as difficult as you’re thinking it will be," Gemma said.
Jax nodded slowly. This was something for him to worry about later. For now, he had other things to care about.
Jax reached the Skill category and looked for what new skill he had received. His Navi Absorption skill was at the top, with Body Fortification skill right behind it. And now, there was a third one at the end.
Featherweight Armor: This skill makes armor weigh as little as a feather.
Jax read the words and frowned slightly. "Featherweight Armor? That sounds more like a Spell than a Skill."
"Oh, that’s the skill you received?" Gemma asked. "That’s quite nice actually. It makes you feel as if you’re not wearing armor at all. Many warriors that focus on defense would love to have this skill."
"Yeah, but I’m not a warrior," Jax said. "Even if I was, how is this not a spell instead?"
"There are spells that do the same thing, but they need to be constantly recast to make use of them," Gemma said. "Meanwhile, you can keep this active forever. Of course, this does end up using a lot more Navi since it is not as optimized as a spell would be."
Jax thought for a bit and nodded. "I suppose that makes sense. I suppose this came at the right time. I need better defense since I nearly died back in the maze. I need armor that can defend me, while not causing a burden upon me."
"Oh! You might get lucky in that regard. Check your gift. Let’s see what things you received."
Jax felt his excitement growing. "Where is my gift?" he asked.
"Check your Inventory."
Jax did and quickly found a box inside that showed up on the grid that appeared in front of him as his Inventory. There were a few other things inside his inventory, mostly his Opal stones and the Earth Opal stones he had received at the end.
Jax reached for the blue box and suddenly heard a notification ring in his ears.
<Would you like to open a ’3-Star Carriage 9 Gift Box’?>
Jax accepted instantly. The box disappeared, and in its place, four different spots were filled up as the notifications for those items appeared before him as well.
<Congratulations! You have received 90 Opal Stones>
<Congratulations! You have received a ’Thundercloud Staff’>
<Congratulations! You have received a ’Larger Steel Flask’>
<Congratulations! You have received a ’Twin Strike’ Spell Stone>
Jax paused for a long moment, reading what he had just received. The amount of Opal stones he had received by itself was surprising for him, but he had received even more after that.
The other two objects were exciting to receive, but the thing that Jax was surprised the most about was the spell stone. He had never expected to receive one here at all.
