Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon-Chapter 739 - 738: An Acquaintance
The Clown's sickening laughter left behind echoes in the room and also the minds of Corey, Kiefer, Selene, and Rosa as he vanished from the room into his shadow.
Corey looked around with his pure white eyes glowing brightly. He looked at the shadows in the room for some seconds, and after seeing that there was no trace of The Clown, he reduced the output of his Eyes of Omniscience.
If he wanted to, he could have interfered with The Clown's disappearance, but he chose not to for several reasons.
First of all, the presence of Kiefer, Selene, Rosa, Lydia, the Terror Queen, and young Calista would not allow him to go all out.
Secondly, Divine's condition was too crucial for him to ignore for a long time.
And lastly, The Clown was similar to Pamela.
The Clown was just a Tier 4, but Corey's senses and instincts told him that he was extremely dangerous and he would need all he have a chance of defeating him.
He had tried recording The Clown's stats, but just like Pamela who had protections over her stats and Tessa Liora of the Temple of Flames, he could not see The Clown's stats at a glance.
The Clown's stats was protected by what he presumed to either be a high-level artifact or a high-level skill. He needed time to break through the protection, but unfortunately, The Clown left before he could do so.
'I wouldn't be so surprised if he knew that I was trying to check out his status window, and left because of that.'
If Corey knew that this was one of the reasons why The Clown had left so quickly, well... he would not have been surprised.
He approached Divine.
He placed his hand on Divine's left chest and used Dream Healing to heal Divine.
Because of how severe Divine's injuries were, Corey had to be careful and methodical with how he healed Divine's body. Luckily for him, he had the Eyes of Omniscience which was able to see through Divine's body.
His anatomical knowledge also played a role in his understanding of how Divine's body worked.
"Smile Reaper?"
Rosa's voice drifted into Corey's ears, and he glanced at her.
"Good to see you're doing well, Rosa." frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
Corey smiled at her, and a stunned expression appeared on Rosa's face for a second before she shook it off.
She looked at Divine with a worried expression, "Is he going to be okay?"
Corey looked at Divine's face and saw that his expression had eased considerably compared to before, "He will, but he'll need time and rare medicinal herbs to heal... But he won't die or become a cripple at the very least."
Corey shook his head slightly, and then he glanced at Selene and Kiefer who were looking at him with several complicated expressions.
Corey raised a brow and looked at Rosa.
"What's wrong?"
Rosa scratched the back of her head with a sigh and sat on the floor.
"You know that I was unconscious from the moment we were betrayed and attacked."
Corey nodded slightly, and his eyes caught sight of Rosa clenching her hands so hard that he could see the veins protruding on her arms.
"When I woke up, Divine, Kiefer, and Selene were trying to outrun a massive boulder while carrying me. We were able to destroy the boulder at the end of the day, but we were suddenly transported to this room, and we met The Clown."
Rosa paused, and then she sighed once again.
"The Clown showed us what was going on in the entire Underworld... The Amphitheatre, the Meal Room, and the City of Sin, especially."
"He showed us the chaos and destruction that the demons brought into the Underworld... And he also showed us the transformation of everybody that took Neon."
Corey raised a brow in surprise, "Okay... And?"
Rosa glanced at Kiefer and Selene for a moment before shaking her head slightly, "Well... The thing is that we never knew that Neon was created because of such a thing."
"The number of people that transformed because of Neon is more than the number of people that died to the demons."
Corey said nothing and just looked at Rosa with a neutral expression.
"Kiefer didn't take Neon, but Selene and I tried it out of curiosity, and you know about it. But you told us not to take it, and we can see why now."
Corey tilted his head slightly.
"Are you worried that you're going to become Neon-mutants?"
"So you call them Neon-mutants..." Rosa mumbled underneath her breath, "Yes, we're worried about that."
Corey shook his head slightly, "You don't have to worry about that. I gave all of you the vaccine for Neon. You can never be infected by it even if a Neon-mutant bites or scratches you."
"Then what about my family... What about my mom? Wasn't she your underling too? She didn't have to die. You didn't have to abandon her."
Corey looked at Selene who spoke with trembling eyes. Corey could see the pain in her eyes as she stared at him, and Corey looked at the door.
The sound of footsteps drifted into the ears of Kiefer, Selene, and Rosa, and they warily looked at the door.
"Calm down." Corey said when he saw them getting into battle ready stances, and they all glanced at him with confused expressions.
However, a second later, Selene snapped her head in the direction of the door with wide eyes.
"Mum?"
"Calista?"
Selene and Kiefer had wide eyes that were full of disbelief and shock. They froze, unable to comprehend what they were seeing.
Meanwhile, the Terror Queen and young Calista ran towards Selene and Kiefer with wide smiles and hugged them.
"Kiefer!"
"My daughter."
Tears poured down young Calista's face as she hugged Kiefer who was frozen in shock and was unable to react to her hug and reaction.
It took a while, but Kiefer hugged her back with a smile and watery eyes.
He was relieved.
Meanwhile, tears poured down Selene's eyes as she hugged her mother tightly.
She was extremely relieved and happy.
As for Rosa, she looked at Lydia with a baffled but suspicious light in her eyes.
"Who is she?"
She asked, and Corey glanced at Lydia for a moment.
"An acquaintance."
