Sinner System-Chapter 424: Sinners and Demonsbane (Part 3)
"You’re definitely improving, you put up a pretty good fight today," I remarked, as I resummoned Ira.
"Yeah, you definitely had me under some pressure there. I think your biggest problem is that you take too long to get into the swing of things, you don’t seem to be able to fight at your best right away.
The longer the fight goes on for, the more you get in the zone, but you’re pretty vulnerable until you get to that point," Added Aria thoughtfully, stretching her arms up as she walked over.
"Just because you’re basically immortal now, that doesn’t mean you should get careless. If you’re destroyed when I don’t have enough Mana to resummon you, it could be bad," I pointed out.
"<Yes, I’ve come to that realization as well. For so long, I only fought to kill, I am not used to simply sparring, with no real stakes involved. When I face something I want to kill, it’s as if something clicks, and I have no trouble fighting at my best. But it’s tough to get that momentum and rhythm going when it isn’t a real fight>," He mused in response.
"I see, so if you’re fighting someone that you don’t see as an enemy, you don’t feel as driven to give it your best. Well, considering that you qualified to be the Apostle of Wrath, maybe you can only bring out your best against opponents that stoke your hatred," I surmised in fascination.
"<I believe that’s at least somewhat accurate, Chief. I haven’t really put much thought into it until recently. I shall have to give it more consideration, to try and come to an accurate understanding of how I operate>," He nodded.
"Alright, I think it’s time we wrap up our joint training session now...unless there’s anyone else who wants to have a quick sparring session?" I called out, as I looked around at the other members of the two Guilds.
"Looks like they’re all exhausted, so I don’t think-...," Began Ciel.
"Um, if it isn’t too much trouble, may I spar against one of your summons?"
Hm? Oh, that’s the girl with Ace Potential who graduated in the same batch as Brid and Iqra. Uh, what was her name again?
Let’s check Appraisal...ah, that’s right, Rio Pentand.
"Sure, I don’t mind. Any of them in particular?" I responded with a smile.
"Yeah, uh...the former Chairwoman of the Union, I didn’t get to spar against her, and she seems like the most skilled of your Ace level summons," She replied, before adding apologetically as she glanced at Invidia and Luxuria, "Sorry, no offense."
"<I mean, you’re not exactly wrong>," Muttered Luxuria sheepishly, as Invidia let out a slight huff and averted his gaze.
"Need me to resummon you?" I asked Superbia, as she stepped forward with a smile.
"<No, I haven’t taken any real damage, just a few small scratches>," She shook her head.
"Thank you for agreeing, I appreciate it," Rio smiled gratefully, glancing between me and Superbia.
"Sure, happy to help."
"<Yeah, what he said. Now, then, let’s get right to it, shall we? Show me what you’ve got>," Remarked Superbia, forming a green spear in her right hand before approaching the training area, Rio following after her.
The ground didn’t get too torn out during the last sparring bout, since Aria and Ira kept the fight mostly in the air.
The barrier formed around the area as the two of them stepped onto the space and took their places, Rio drawing out her rapier and swinging it across.
That razor sharp tip, and those serrated edges, it really is a pretty unique blade. From what I remember, she wielded it pretty well the last time I saw her spar. That was quite a while ago, it was before I ended up in the Monster world.
A weapon like that needs to be wielded precisely and accurately, her margin for error is pretty small with how narrow the blade is.
"<I’ll let you make the first move, whenever you’re ready>!" Superbia called out, as Rio tied up her light blue-dyed hair up in a high ponytail and let out a slow exhale.
"Alright, then...here I come!" She exclaimed, swinging her blade across before sprinting towards Superbia with impressive agility.
She’s definitely a lot faster and more nimble than I remember. Time to update her profile in Appraisal, let’s see how much she’s improved:
HP: 301 -> 550
MP: 466
Strength: 303 -> 548
Agility: 357 -> 692
Vitality: 299 -> 552
Perception: 390 -> 701
Power Level: 352,700 -> 584,800
Potential: 899,600
Hey, that’s pretty impressive, her stats have increased significantly since the first time I used Appraisal on her. Her Agility has almost doubled, and it definitely shows.
"[High Accel Wind Strike]!" She chanted as she closed in on Superbia, driving her blade towards her chest.
A sharp clang rang out as Superbia blocked the thrust of the narrow blade with her spear, the tip of the blade colliding against the middle of the handle.
But Rio was quick to transition to her next move, turning her body before lunging across past Superbia’s left, chanting as she whipped her blade across...
"[High Accel Wind Slash]!"
A shallow cut appeared across Superbia’s left side as the serrated edges of the blade grazed her, avoiding a deeper cut as she shuffled across to her right and spun around.
Rio swiftly backed away and got some distance, letting out a slow exhale, a calm, composed look on her face.
Impressive, she can definitely keep a cool head under pressure. Her opening move, it definitely seemed like she was expecting her first strike to be blocked...which means, right from the start, she was counting on landing a hit with her second attack.
That’s not a move you can pull off without a high level of balance and control over your body, she’s clearly trained hard.
"<Not bad, not bad at all. Looks like I’ll have to take you seriously>," Smiled Superbia, as she glanced at the cut across her side...
