Sinner System-Chapter 434: Kai vs Cleo (Part 1)
"Alright, before we start, let’s test out the barrier and make sure it works on you. Close your eyes, it’ll be tough not to flinch or react otherwise," I suggested, as I drew out Desecrator.
"Yeah, okay," Nodded Cleo, before closing her eyes.
I shot towards her, leaping forward as I closed in before driving my blade towards the left side of her chest.
Right as the tip of the blade closed in on her, she vanished from sight, reappearing outside the barrier.
Perfect, looks like it works.
Today’s the 4th of January, 2171, a couple of days later. Aria and I were back in the training field with Cleo, we initially planned on picking up where we left off yesterday, but she asked us to postpone it to today.
She seems to have gotten some new gear, her gauntlets look different. Guess she wanted to have them modified in some way?
"Alright, we’re good to go. Before we start, are you still going to refrain from using those Special Skills? And do you want me to go all out?" I asked her, as she stepped back onto the training area.
"Actually, I will be using one of my Special Skills, maybe both. As it turned out, they’re pretty easy to use. After last time, I conked out as soon as I got home, I woke up later that night and tested out those Skills, and I had no trouble using them.
Though, I needed to get my gauntlets modified to properly use one of them, that’s why I asked to postpone it to today. I went to the Armory to have them adjusted as I wanted.
Basically, it’s a much stretchier material now, and as you can see, the leather armor layer had been segmented into a bunch of small squares," She remarked, as she held up her gauntlets.
"Huh...so, in other words, you wanted your gauntlets to be able to stretch and expand without breaking, right?" Surmised Aria in fascination.
"Mhm, I took inspiration from the Saiyan armor, though this isn’t quite as convenient as all that. The increased flexibility means lower defense," She replied with a wry smile.
"I see, so your Special Skills have something to do with transforming your body, I’m guessing-...," I began, before trailing off as a slight look of dismay appeared on her face.
Seems she wants to keep it a surprise...I shouldn’t ruin it for her. Yeah, I’ll play along.
"Anyway, why don’t we get started? You wanna spar against me first this time, right?"
"Huh? Oh, uh, yeah. I know my fight against you was kinda left incomplete, Ariella, so I probably should’ve resumed that first before fighting Kai, but those explosive flames of yours makes it tough to properly test out my abilities against you, so yeah," She remarked sheepishly.
"Hey, it’s cool, you don’t need to apologize," Aria shook her head with a smile, before adding, "We’ll just pick up where we left off after you fight Kai."
"Yeah, definitely. Oh, and to answer your second question, Kai, yeah, I do want you to go all out. But, could you maybe be on the defensive at first? I want to see if I can land a hit on you while you’re focused on defense and evasion."
"Sure, that’s fine. In that case, I’ll start out on defense, gradually move on to counters, and once things are in full swing, I’ll start attacking too. That okay with you?"
"Mhm, yeah, sounds good," She nodded with a smile, before Aria stepped off the training area and activated the barrier.
"Okay, then, here goes...<Enrage>, <Descent>," I chanted, unleashing my full power.
Cleo instinctively shrunk back slightly, a wry smile spreading out across her lips.
"Holy shit...that’s an insane Aura. Alright, here I come...<Roc Wind>!" She exclaimed, before racing towards me as intense wind swirled around her.
She leapt forward with a sharp burst of speed as pressurized wind erupted behind her, before firing out a blast of wind at me from her mouth.
I swiftly shuffled across to my right, the blast whizzing past my left side and crashing onto the ground behind me, a puff of dust bursting out upon impact.
"Now, <Partial Monstrification: Lightning Wyvern, Right Arm>!"
Fascinating...
Her right arm rapidly grew and expanded, electric blue scales forming over it as it took on the appearance of a Lightning Wyvern’s arm, intense lightning crackling around it.
I see, this is why she wanted her gauntlets to be more flexible, they’d break apart otherwise...
I ducked as she swiped her claws across at my head, whizzing over the top of my head with a sharp crackle, before I raised my left hand as she drove her right knee up, blunting her strike with my palm.
I swiftly sprang across to my left as she swung her tranformed right arm straight down towards me, the lightning around it intensifying as her claws missed my right shoulder by a few inches.
Her transformation then receded, before she shot towards me again, lunging forward as she closed in and drove her left arm forward, plunging the blades over her knuckles towards my stomach.
I turned my body across to evade it, the blades whizzing past the front of my stomach, before she chanted...
"<Hypersonic Screech>!"
I spread out my wings and zipped up into the air as she unleashed a deafening burst of high-pitched, ringing sound from her mouth, narrowly evading it before flying across the space and swooping down, landing several meters behind her.
Hm, being restricted solely to defense is proving to be more challenging than expected. She’s quite capable, that Partial Monstrification Skill disrupted her center of balance, but she adjusted to it well, and it definitely generated more power and speed than her Acquired Skills do.
But just like her Acquired Skills, it seems to have the same restriction of only lasting for five seconds. And possibly a one minute cooldown as well.
This is turning out to be quite interesting...
