Chapter 453: Chapter 453: Calamity Raids (Part 11)

"An Archdemon, huh? Hm, and one of the weaker ones I’ve come across," I remarked as we entered the Boss Room.

"You...you’re the one who ran wild in our world, aren’t you? This is perfect...Lord Vaszel will be quite pleased when I present him your head," Responded the Archdemon, as she stood up and stepped forward.

She had the appearance of a young woman, with light red hair and dark blue eyes. Hm, she’s got three Demonic Arts, but none of them sound useful in battle.

Her Power Level is pretty average for an Archdemon too. I don’t think I even need to use my power boosts here.

"Alright, let’s end this nice and quick. Acedia, back me up with your lightning," I remarked, as I cracked my neck.

"<Understood, my Lord>," He nodded, as I approached the Demon.

She unleashed a swirling blast of Negative Energy towards me, her eyes widening as I chanted to activate Drain and swallowed it up, before she spread out her wings and flew up.

She tensed as Acedia swiftly fired out rapid bolts of lightning aimed at her wings, narrowly evading them before I whipped my arms down to fire out a pair of vertical slashing waves of Negative Energy.

She just barely avoided one, before plummeting as the second one sliced through her right wing, before she stiffened as I launched myself straight towards her with a pressurized burst of Negative Energy from my heels.

"Now, <Devour: Cloak>," I chanted, dark shadowy energy swirling and wrapping around my body as I drew out Desecrator and closed in on her.

She ducked as I slashed at her head, severing a few strands of her hair, before she drove her claws straight towards the middle of my chest.

A startled cry of pain rang out as her claws, fingers and hand got consumed by the dark energy wrapped around me, blood spurting out of her wrist as she pulled her arm back, her hand starting to regenerate rapidly before I slammed my right foot onto her stomach, the dark energy eating right through her and carving out a hole through the middle of her stomach. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

As I began to reach out for her head with my leg still through her stomach, she suddenly swayed her body across to either side, deliberately using the energy of Devour around my leg to erase her sides around her stomach, before she rapidly flew up in alarm, just a head, arms and chest, having detached everything below the ribcage.

As her body rapidly regenerated, her gaze focused on me as she tried to catch her breath, before she quickly shifted her gaze as a bright, electric glow shone out, a vicious crackle echoing out as a rapid, streaky bolt of lightning shot towards her.

A stuttering yell of pain rang out as the lightning struck her right shoulder, her body seizing up as her regeneration briefly halted right as her legs began to grow back.

She trembled in pain as the lightning faded, covered in severe burns, before flying back in alarm as I launched myself up towards her with an intense burst of Negative Energy from my feet.

I met her gaze in mid-air as I reached the peak of my leap, before she raised her hands towards me as she finished regenerating, starting to charge up Negative Energy in her right hand, while extending out the claws on her left hand.

"Now...<Command: Decapitate Yourself>," I chanted, before I blasted myself straight towards her as she swung her left arm across, slicing through her neck with her claws and severing her own head.

"H-Huh?" She uttered, before the light in her eyes faded as her head fell off and began to plummet.

Her body began to fly back as her head started to regenerate...apparently, Archdemons’ consciousnesses briefly shift to their Cores when they get decapitated, but it basically puts them in a state of sensory deprivation until their heads grow back, they aren’t connected to their own senses while missing their heads.

They’re the only Monsters that can survive decapitation at all, Greater Demons can be killed by brain damage or decapitation, while Archdemons can only be killed by destroying their Cores.

The lower half of her head grew back as I closed in on her, her body continuing to back away on instinct...before her back thudded against the wall behind her.

The Instant Regeneration Skill that most Archdemons possess, it’s a bit misleading...to anyone below X-Ace level, it certainly looks instant, but at my level of Perception, it looks nowhere near instant.

Her head finished regenerating right as I drove my left hand forward, the energy of Devour carving right through her solar plexus, and as my hand reached her Core, the energy wiped it out without a trace, a look of horror appearing in her eyes for a brief moment, before her eyes rolled back as her body went limp.

I deactivated Devour: Cloak and used jets of Negative Energy from the soles of my feet to hover in the air as she plummeted and hit the ground with a thud.

I steadily floated back down, landing before glancing back as the others approached me.

"That was truly a sigh to behold, an Archdemon defeated so one-sidedly," Remarked Petrus in awe.

"Y-Yeah, that was so freaking awesome!" Added the Detector with a gleam in her eyes.

"<I’d expect no less from the Boss. And you did a great job backing him up, bro, way to go>," Grinned Invidia, patting Acedia on the shoulder.

"<Uh, yeah, thank you>," He nodded awkwardly.

"<I’m a bit surprised though, that the Demon Lord would deploy such a weak Archdemon. It’s definitely strange, I really figured he’d pick the strongest among the remaining Calamity Level Monsters.

And I seriously doubt this one was among those, she was probably one who’d evolved pretty recently, there’s gotta be at least a couple dozen or so Archdemons who are stronger than she was>," Chimed in Luxuria with a frown.

"<Hm...I don’t like the sound of that>," Muttered Superbia warily.

"Yeah...this whole raid really felt like one of the most half-assed Dungeons I’ve ever been in. Don’t tell me-...come on, let’s head back. We’re taking a shortcut," I remarked, as I turned my attention to the wall to the left and chanted, "<Devour>."
