Sinner System-Chapter 461: The Sentinels (Part 7)

I fired out a barrage of piercing blood beams as Jin unleashed a rapid volley of intense wind arrows, our attacks converging in on Viscous.

Suddenly, he vanished from sight, loud crashes ringing out as Jin’s wind arrows collided against the ground and erupted. I then stiffened and launched myself straight up into the air with sharp bursts of blood from my feet, reacting on instinct.

I made my move right in the nick of time, as a devastating bolt of lightning came zipping in towards me from the left, narrowly evading it as the bolt shot past below the soles of my feet.

I turned my gaze in the direction it had come from, to see Viscous standing a few meters away, the fiery orange hue of the left half of his body having turned a bright, electric yellow.

A freezing burst of frost erupted towards me as he took aim with his right hand, the aqua blue hue of his right side turning a pale, icy whitish-blue. I shuddered as a layer of frost formed over my left arm, as I just barely avoided a direct hit.

Viscous then zipped away in a rapid blur as a flurry of wind arrows came shooting towards him, slithering across the ground with incredible speed.

I can barely follow his movements, he’s little more than a blur...

I descended back towards the ground with jets of blood from my feet, before firing out a barrage of bone bullets towards him.

But he was too fast, my projectiles weren’t even getting close to hitting him, and the same went for Jin’s wind arrows.

Loud blasts rang out as his arrows collided against the ground, clouds of dust rising up all around us. We both stopped firing as we lost sight of Viscous, the Monster hiding amidst the dust clouds billowing around us.

Suddenly, I let out a choked gasp as something grabbed my throat, Viscous extending his left arm through the dust clouds and clamping around my neck before I could react.

I gritted my teeth as he tightened his grip, burning my skin with the heat emanating from his hand, before I seized up sharply as he shifted to lightning, a bright, electric yellow glow appearing around his hand.

Suddenly, a wind arrow zipped forward and struck the middle of his extended arm, tearing it apart and severing it.

I let out a sharp gasp as the grasp around my throat loosened, before his hand fell off and hit the ground with a splat.

A burst of force then erupted out, the clouds of dust getting cleared away before my eyes widened in alarm, as I spotted him again.

He had dozens of slimy tendrils extending out of his back, his eyes gleaming as he sent them shooting out towards us with immense speed.

Jin and I raced away as fast as we could, but the tendrils were faster, steadily catching up to us.

I stopped and spun around with a grimace, extending out several slicing blood tendrils and whipping them around in front of myself, slicing the slimy tendrils to shreds before they could reach me.

Suddenly, I froze as I sensed something behind me, seizing up with a gasp as a sharp, stabbing cold struck the middle of my back. I gritted my teeth and unleashed a fierce blast of blood from my back, shuddering as I felt my skin around that spot shatter like glass.

Sh-Shit, he drilled a frost-coated tendril into the ground and snuck it up behind me, it froze a good chunk of my back solid. Fortunately, the layer he froze was fairly shallow...had I reacted too much later and let him freeze a deeper layer, that might have killed me.

I then turned my gaze across as a yelp rang out, a flaming tendril wrapping around Jin’s left leg and lifting him off the ground, before he stiffened as several more tendrils surrounded him, the ends narrowing into razor-sharp points.

"No!" I yelled, starting to sprint that way before I was forced to back away as a devastating blast of lightning came shooting towards me, narrowly evading it.

"That’s one down," Remarked Viscous, as the tendrils began to zip in towards Jin-...

"[Super Accel Flame Strike]!"

An intense burst of heat erupted as a bright, fiery figure swooped down towards Viscous from above and hit him with immense, searing force, the tendrils falling apart and splattering across the ground.

Several loud crashes rang out as stifling waves of heat burst out in rapid succession, a thick cloud of dust rising up where Viscous had been standing, a fiery glow gleaming out from amidst the dust.

I then shifted my gaze to the left as a loud cracking sound rang out, right as the ground several meters away burst open. Viscous oozed out through the dirt in a gloopy puddle, before reverting to his humanoid shape.

The dust cloud then cleared as another burst of heat erupted, Ariella coming into sight, cracking her knuckles as she let out a slow exhale.

"Well, that was weird. I definitely hit your Core, multiple times. And yet, there was no damage done. The repelling force I felt each time I hit it...it feels just like the effect of a Personalis Arma," She remarked, as Viscous eyed her warily.

"Interesting, I didn’t expect any of you humans to figure that out. But, then, it doesn’t really make a difference either way. You are correct, this is my Personalis Arma, Heartlock.

It is a shield that fully surrounds my Core. Seeing as you possess a Personalis Arma as well, you should be well-aware of the fact that Personalis Arma are indestructible.

In other words...no matter what you do, my Core cannot be destroyed," He responded, continuing to keep his distance from her. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Looks like he’s waiting for her to make the first move, he isn’t taking any chances.

"Great timing, I was about to die," Jin sighed gratefully.

"Yeah, we really needed the backup. This guy’s on a whole other level," I added with a grimace.

"Huh, you’re not making dumb jokes, I guess this really is serious," She replied with a wry smile, before adding as she glanced at Viscous, "Yeah, I know the Personalis Arma are indestructible, but so what? They can’t be destroyed, but there’s a limit to how much force they can absorb."

"So?"

"So, if I hit your Heartlock with more force than it can bear, your Core will sustain damage. And, lucky for me, I’ve got just the weapons to pull it off...between your Heartlock and my Pyro Impact, let’s see whose Personalis Arma comes out on top," She smirked, an intense burst of heat erupting as she slammed her fists together...
