Sinner System-Chapter 512: Final Dungeon - Second Floor (Part 5)

As the ring of pillars expanded, I found myself standing in front of one of the pillars in the blink of an eye, before several startled voices rang out.
I grimaced as I looked around, my chest tightening...as I spotted the Aces in front of some of the pillars.
Damn it, looks like staying out of the vicinity of the Sentinel isnβt enough, they still got dragged into the roulette.
And in the same pairs, Rex and Ciel are still paired up, same with Brid and Jax, while Petrus is still by hims-...huh? Wait, where Cleo?
"U-Uh, guys?" Her voice echoed out, before I glanced in the direction it had come from, to see her standing by the same spot weβd been in before getting dragged into the effect of the ring of pillars.
What the...? Why is she-...damn it, this must be another rule of this Final Dungeon.
Does it mean that one person canβt go twice in a row? Or maybe they canβt fight again until everyone else has had a turn?
Shit, more importantly...the roulette has already begun!
As the pillars glowed one by one, the glow shifting between them faster and faster, I glanced around anxiously, hoping that the glow would land on me.
It may very well be inevitable that all of us have to fight at some point or another, including the Aces, but...if we can delay that, maybe weβll be able to figure out a way-...
My chest tightened as the glow finally stopped, coming to a halt on one of the pillars...in front of Rex and Ciel.
The force restraining my feet to the ground disappeared as the two of them got teleported into the ring of pillars, Rex quickly stepping out in front of Ciel, a tense grimace on his face.
"Ah, fantastic, I get to fight two of you. I am Slasher, the Mantis Queen, and I hold the honor of being the very first of the Demon Lordβs Sentinels," She introduced herself, her voice eerily clear despite the insect mouth.
This is bad...sheβs got High Status Effect Immunity, which means Command-...my sole option to provide help...-is going to be less effective on her than it was on Sonic.
Like Acedia mentioned, sheβs got a pair of weapons floating around her, two double-edged blades.
They didnβt have handles, only rings in the middle, connecting the blades together. They look like two halves of a large shuriken.
Rex glanced back and said something to Ciel, who stepped closer towards him and placed her right hand on his shoulder, before raising her left arm and generating a massive, swirling sphere of explosive energy.
She swung her arm down, hurling the sphere towards Slasher, who shot forward with immense speed, her floating blades hovering beside her on either side.
A deafening blast rang out as the explosive sphere slammed onto the ground where Slasher had been standing, the ensuing shockwave propelling her with a sharp burst of speed as she maintained her balance, before unfurling a vicious thrust of her claws towards Rexβs throat.
Her eyes widened in surprise as she phased right through him, before phasing through Ciel as well, coming to a skidding halt behind them and turning around with a perplexed look on her face.
"Some sort of Magic with an intangibility effect, is it? How annoying," She uttered, before whipping her arms across, firing out powerful slashing waves from the curved blades over her arms.
The slashes phased through Rex and Ciel, the sense of anxiety I was feeling starting to ease slightly.
"Hey, this could actually work. Rexβs Magic is the perfect defense, Ciel just needs to spam her explosions and theyβre set," Remarked Aria hopefully, as she and the others gathered around me.
"I wouldnβt relax just yet. When he turns someone else intangible, they canβt cast their Magic while in that state. So, every time Ciel attacks, itβll only be possible if Rex briefly turns her tangible," I reminded her, as Slasher continued launching attacks at them, to no avail.
"From what I can see of his Aura, he should be able to maintain this for a while, but...itβs only a matter of time before he runs out of Mana, he canβt keep this up forever," Chimed in Jaden quietly.
Yeah, he can keep himself intangible for quite some time, but when turning someone or something else intangible, the rate at which his Mana is consumed is about triple what it is when only using his Magic on himself.
Thereβs no escape either...we already tested it, but his Magic doesnβt work on the floor, walls and ceiling of this Final Dungeon, he canβt phase through them...
Slasher continued attacking the two of them relentlessly, sending her Personalis Arma blades spinning towards them, the weapons phasing through.
She then flew up and got some distance, finally ceasing her assault.
"I think I understand now. You truly are untouchable. But it will not last. Yes, I can see it, your Mana steadily draining away. And whatβs more...," Smirked Slasher, before veering across as Ciel fired out rapid explosive bolt towards her, evading it before adding as the projectile struck the ceiling of the barrier and exploded, "...the female cannot use her Magic while intangible, so you need to briefly remove the effect of your Magic on her when she attacks and-..."
She trailed off as Ciel suddenly took her hand off Rexβs shoulder and fired out a rapid volley of small explosive projectiles, the Monster swiftly weaving across the air to evade them, before raising one of her floating blades in front of herself, spinning it with immense speed, and blocking another explosive blast.
Ciel quickly grabbed onto Rex again as the second floating blade zipped down towards them, getting back into contact with him right as the blade phased through him, before phasing through her as well.
The blade then began zipping back and forth through the two of them, staying on them as they began to rush across to try and get away from it, but they couldnβt outrun it, the spinning blade forcing them to stay intangible.
"My Mana capacity is several times greater than either of yours, you shall run out well before I ever do. Hm, but I would prefer not to waste time waiting, so I suppose I might as well experiment. To begin with...what if I tear apart the ground youβre standing on? What sort of an effect would that have?" Chuckled Slasher maliciously...
