Wow, I...I actually pulled it off.

I really didn’t think it’d work, but I couldn’t think of a better plan, so it was my only option.

I deliberately avoided using my Stealth and Accel Skills, so that he’d underestimate me significantly enough that I’d be able to catch him off-guard. I fully gambled on banking on exploiting an opening once he was about to finish me off...and somehow, it went exactly according to plan.

The chains of my weapons are made of a special alloy, one that turns stiff and rigid when Mana is run through it. If I want to using stabbing and piercing attacks with my blades, I have to run Mana through the weapons to stiffen the chains first.

But I avoided doing that until my last attack, only using slashing strikes against the Archdemon.

Gotta say, though, I was pretty surprised that my fake-glance behind him actually worked. I probably would’ve failed to land my last attack if it hadn’t.

I was counting on whatever little panic he’d have felt when he realized I’d tricked him, and by using Stealth to turn invisible, resulting in him catching no sight of me when he turned his gaze forward again, confound his panic further.

It wouldn’t last long, since even though he couldn’t see me, he could still feel me through his grasp over my hair.

But that momentary panic and confusion was exactly what I needed. And the invisibility also masked my attack until the moment it pierced his skin, and by then, it was too late.

The Super Accel Skill doubles the speed of my attacks, briefly making my strikes as fast as a lower-mid level X-Ace.

Too slow to land a hit against a Calamity Level Monster head-on, but fast enough when they’re taken by surprise.

I let out a slight chuckle as I lifted my gaze, staring up at the ceiling of the dome around the Sanctuary.

I really did it, I took down a Calamity Level Monster all by myself. I managed to live up to the Demonsbane name...as the Guildmaster, it’s the least I could do.

I mean, sure, my left arm is completely mangled, my back is in a lot of pain, I’ve definitely got a ton of fractured, but I’m still alive, these injuries aren’t fatal.

That said, I take on another Calamity Level Threat, I’ll definitely die, I doubt my luck would be much better against Critical Levels either, but...I should at least be able to take down High Levels and lower, even in my current state.

My right arm is still intact, and so are my legs. I can stand, I can walk, and I can attack...if I use Stealth, I can do it, I can make things at least a little bit easier for everyone else.

"Alright...up we go," I muttered as I shakily got back onto my feet with a grunt, wincing slightly before taking a few deep breaths. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Ow, damn it...now that the adrenaline is fading, the pain is really setting in...

"[Super Accel Ice Slash]!" I exclaimed, whipping my spear across as cold, freezing mist swirled around the blade.

A sharp snarl rang out as the Monster I was fighting, a King Ant, deflected my swing with its sharp, exo-skeleton covered, claw-like fingers, a clang ringing out before the King Ant drove its claws towards my stomach.

I twisted my body across, before gasping in pain as its claws inflicted a deep gash across my side, blood gushing out and streaming down before I gritted my teeth and lunged forward, unfurling a powerful thrust of my spear.

The Monster shuffled across, evading my thrust with ease, before driving its claws towards my face.

I let out a sharp cry as I tilted my head across as fast as I could, the claws slicing across my left eye and dragging along my skin towards my left ear, before splitting my ear in half.

I lifted my right foot and drove it towards the middle of the King Ant’s torso, before stiffening with a hiss of pain as the Monster caught hold of my ankle before my foot could reach it, its claws digging in deeply.

Suddenly, it lifted me off the ground and flung me away with a powerful snap of its wrist, sending me hurtling across to my right, before I crashed onto a nearby car, the windows shattering as the side of the vehicle dented in upon impact, jarring my shoulder and elbow painfully.

I collapsed onto my knees as I tried to get back up, my right ankle too damaged to put any weight on my foot, before I quickly rolled out of the way as the King Ant flew up and swooped down towards me.

Its feet slammed against the ground with immense force, deep cracks spreading out across the concrete as puffs of dust rose up around the Monster, who turned its gaze towards me and narrowed its eyes as I scrambled back while on my knees, unable to stand up.

D-Damn it...

Is this how it ends for me?

I was the Guildmaster of the Paragon Guild, until it was merged with the Diva Guild, along with the Dragon Slayer Guild...I was considered one of the strongest in Sanctuary Theta.

And now, here am I, unable to kill a single Monster, when there are thousands upon thousands attacking us.

Am I really about to die here? Helpless against this lone, glorified insect?

No...no, I refuse to just roll over and die!

At least, not without a fight. If I’m going down, I’m taking this bastard with me, damn it! If nothing else, I am not going to die in vain.

"Bring it on, you ugly fucking bug! So, what if I can’t use my legs? I’ve still got my arms, and that’s all I’m going to need! Now, come at me!" I snapped, as I pointed my spear at the King Ant...
