Chapter 584: Chapter 584: Beyond Superhuman

"To begin with, all of you are now beyond superhuman, you’ve all grown exponentially more powerful than you were before entering the Final Dungeon. Miss Cleo confirmed as much shortly after she woke up.

Besides the obvious boosts to your Power Levels, this growth has also drastically increased your lifespans. Now, we don’t know exactly how long you’ll live, since this is unprecedented.

But, based on our estimates, it’s likely that Jaden and Ciel will live to around five hundred years. Miss Cleo, you’ll live a bit longer, perhaps somewhere between six to seven hundred."

Woah, for real?

"And as for the two of you, Kai and Ariella, you’re functionally immortal now. Your bodies aren’t aging, and you’ve both developed something similar to Monster Cores in your solar plexuses, our analysis indicates that those Cores are now your only vital spots.

In other words, even getting stabbed through the heart or decapitated probably won’t kill you," Cameron informed us, my eyes widening in bewilderment, Ariella looking pretty stunned herself, glancing down at the middle of her torso.

Wait, seriously? How? 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

<I’ll explain that later>

Huh? You mean you know what’s going on?

<Yeah, I do>

I exchanged a glance with Aria, before nodding and turning our attention back to Cameron.

"Well, that’s certainly a lot to process," I remarked in bemusement.

"Yes, I’d imagine so," He nodded with a wry smile.

"Damn, five hundred, huh? Wonder what the world will look like by then?" Mused Jaden in fascination.

"Guess you’ll find out eventually. Now, to continue...Cleo, Kai and Ariella, the three of you should be just fine once you’re fully rested and recovered. Unfortunately, Ciel and Jaden, by the time all of you were brought to me to be healed, it was too late to regenerate your limbs.

Ordinarily, the amount of time that had passed wouldn’t be a problem...but your bodies’ natural healing prowess sealed the stumps of your missing limbs too thoroughly. But, well, if it wasn’t for your improved healing, your injuries definitely would’ve killed you in the first place.

The blood loss alone would’ve been fatal. You in particular, Jaden...by all accounts, you should’ve been dead, it’s nothing short of a miracle that you survived those injuries. I’m guessing you used your Magic to splint your injuries and keep yourself alive, but to remain conscious in that state is just insane...in short, you survived solely through sheer fucking willpower," Remarked Cameron incredulously.

Wow.

"Huh. Cool," Grinned Jaden, giving him a thumbs up.

"That said, once things settle, we can set you up with state-of-the-art prosthetics, a bit of physical therapy to get used to the artificial limbs and you’ll be more or less as good as new," Cameron smiled encouragingly.

"Um...I have a thought. Maybe Ciel’s Personalis Arma might help? I-I mean, mine changes form to suit me when I transform, so...," Suggested Cleo.

"Oh, good thinking, that might work," Nodded Aria, before we glanced at Ciel.

"I guess it’s worth a shot," She muttered, reaching down with her left hand as Jaden opened the box for her with his telekinesis.

As Ciel took hold of the bracelet, it began glowing, before floating out of her grasp and expanding around the stump left of her right arm.

The glow brightened intensely as it took shape, before steadily fading as it finished forming, a jet-black prosthetic arm with red streaks of a similar hue to her Magic.

"Huh, cool, wonder if mine will transform into legs," Remarked Jaden, his box floating up and landing on his lap, before he opened it with a gleam of anticipation on his face.

"This feels strange. I can move it just like I could with my real arm, but I can’t actually feel it," Muttered Ciel, as she opened and closed her new prosthetic hand a couple of times.

"Aw...mine isn’t transforming," Jaden sighed wistfully, as he strapped his Personalis Arma around his waist, before adding with a shrug, "Oh, well, it’s fine. I can just float around with telekinesis, so I don’t really need legs. Although...it might be a bit of a pain to have to use my Magic every single time I want to move. Guess I’ll have to go for regular prosthetics."

"Alright, well...I think that just about covers everything. All of you should make a full recovery before much longer. I’ll have some food brought to the room shortly, eat your fill and then get some rest," Cameron instructed us.

"Now that you mention it, I am kinda hungry," I replied with a wry smile.

It’s weird though, I’m not as hungry as I’d expect to be after two days of no food. I wonder why?

"Same," Nodded Jaden in agreement.

"I guess I could eat," Added Ciel, her stomach rumbling.

"Oh, right, you three haven’t eaten...Cleo and I already ate, since we woke up a fair bit earlier," Grinned Aria sheepishly.

"Alright, then, I’ll take my leave now. Like I said, eat to your hearts’ content and rest up, you’ve all more than earned it...after all, the five of you are the heroes who saved our world," Smiled Cameron gratefully, before stepping out the door with a wave.

"Heroes, huh? Not gonna lie, that feels kinda weird," Laughed Jaden, after a brief silence.

"I was just thinking the same thing," I nodded in agreement.

"Same, it just feels kinda...I don’t know, cheesy, I guess?" Added Aria wryly.

"Honestly, I couldn’t care less," Responded Ciel with a shrug.

"Is...is it really over? Are the Monsters really gone for good? I just feel like it’s too good to be true," Remarked Cleo with a slight frown.

"I know what you mean. Things have been going wrong for so long that it’s hard to believe it’s really over," I replied with a wistful sigh.

"Huh. If it really is over, does that mean Hunters aren’t necessary anymore?" Wondered Jaden.

"Well, if human history is anything to go by, now that humanity isn’t united against a common enemy anymore, maybe we’ll start killing each other in a few decades or so," I suggested with a shrug.

"Hey, come on, don’t joke like that," Responded Aria, giving me a disapproving nudge.

Honestly, I was only half-kidding.

Well, whatever...there’s no telling what the future holds, but for right now, we’re probably better off focusing on the positives.
