Slaying Demons: Starting with Upgrading my Calligraphy-Chapter 431 - 385: God’s Loathful Remnants
Discovered me?
Noticing the malevolent gaze of the God’s Loathful Remnant, Qi Xiu was slightly astonished. He was concealed by [Cloud Conceals Moon], and his Hunyuan Myriad Laws Immortal Body also provided Divine Luster Inward Concealment.
Even a Dao Expert couldn’t detect him.
This God’s Loathful Remnant was just the resentment left by a deity after death, yet it managed to discover him.
It seems that the deity buried in this mausoleum is no ordinary entity, quite possibly a Primordial Spirit Realm Innate God, Qi Xiu’s eyes narrowed slightly.
There were indeed differences in the strength of deities.
Powerful Innate Gods, or some special Postnatal Gods like the Water God of Dianchuan, Elder Shui, possessed strength comparable to a Primordial Spirit True Honor.
Weaker ones, like Mountain Gods and Well Gods, might not even be a match for Initiate Realm cultivators.
However, most of the deities in the Valley of Deceased Gods had been personally slain by Li Zhexian, and they were at least at the Dao Body Realm.
And the Divine Mausoleum he had just accidentally opened probably housed an Innate God who possessed Primordial Spirit Realm strength during their lifetime.
Attempting to move, Qi Xiu observed the God’s Loathful Remnant’s gaze.
Sure enough, as he moved, the God’s Loathful Remnant’s gaze shifted, clearly fixated on him.
The next instant, the God’s Loathful Remnant moved.
She slowly lifted her bare feet and took a step. The ground beneath her instantly seemed to shrink and pull closer, and in the blink of an eye, she had almost reached Qi Xiu.
Earth Shrinking to an Inch?!
His expression tightened, and Qi Xiu’s figure explosively retreated.
At the same time, thousands of golden lights emerged around the God’s Loathful Remnant. Countless [Suppression Talismans] interconnected, forming an indestructible cage that securely locked her down.
Now that he could form talismans with his mind, Qi Xiu’s speed in deploying Talisman Scripts and Rune Arrays had reached a whole new level.
He could do so almost instantaneously.
This was especially true for the [Suppression Talisman Sealing Skill].
The [Suppression Talisman], his first mastered Cloud Seal Talisman, when infused with the full power of his Seven Realms Calligraphy, could completely seal the cultivation of an ordinary Blood-Dyed Ninth Layer cultivator.
A [Suppression Talisman Sealing Skill] formed from thousands of [Suppression Talismans] could even briefly suppress a great cultivator at Blood-Stained Peak who had formed a spiritual body.
At the Blood-Stained Peak level, even a single second of suppression could mean the difference between life and death.
Trapped tightly by the chains formed by the [Suppression Talisman Sealing Skill], the God’s Loathful Remnant slowly lowered her head, and a dense, ominous power began to emanate from her.
CLANG-CLANG—
Invisibly, it seemed as if pairs of colossal hands were tearing at the golden chains formed by the [Suppression Talismans]. In just a few breaths, the golden chains began to deform and even shatter.
Calmly watching the God’s Loathful Remnant struggle to break free, Qi Xiu slowly stroked the Golden Cry Jade Beads in his hand.
It was expected that the [Suppression Talisman Sealing Skill] wouldn’t be able to hold the God’s Loathful Remnant.
If the greatest danger in this Valley of Deceased Gods could be dealt with so easily, the Sect Master wouldn’t have warned him repeatedly.
Judging by this speed, a thousand-talisman [Suppression Talisman Sealing Skill] can only contain this God’s Loathful Remnant for less than ten breaths. What about a ten-thousand-talisman version...?
A thought sparked, and an intense light gradually filled Qi Xiu’s eyes.
A ten-thousand-talisman [Suppression Talisman Sealing Skill] was something he had never attempted before.
After all, even though he previously had the means to draw talismans in the void, drawing ten thousand [Suppression Talismans] was still a significant undertaking.
Moreover, previously, deploying a ten-thousand-talisman [Suppression Talisman Sealing Skill] would have involved a lengthy process just to activate and revive all the [Suppression Talismans], making it impractical.
But now that he could form talismans with his mind, this idea had a chance of becoming reality.
As this thought emerged, Qi Xiu’s eyes narrowed slightly. In his Ancestral Aperture, his soul—seated atop Yama’s Great Hall—began to radiate golden light. Below, tens of thousands of adoring, subservient remnant souls kowtowed and cried out in worship, unleashing a torrential wave of immense soul power.
His eyes gleamed with a myriad of colors. Around the God’s Loathful Remnant, beams of golden light emerged once more.
And compared to before, the number of golden lights this time was a full ten times greater!
Just as Qi Xiu was preparing to test whether a ten-thousand-talisman [Suppression Talisman Sealing Skill] could suppress and seal the God’s Loathful Remnant for an extended period, a familiar aura suddenly appeared within his perception.
"Hmm?"
With a soft exclamation, Qi Xiu frowned and turned his head, his eyes, swirling with purple light, looked to his left.
Demonic Evil Cultivators?
He was greatly surprised to detect the presence of Demonic Evil Cultivators in the Valley of Deceased Gods.
According to the Sect Master, the Human Race completely controlled this valley, and there was only one entrance.
Northwestern Dalang was located deep within the Great Xuan Dynasty’s territory; Demonic Evil Cultivators simply couldn’t reach this far.
Even if some scattered, wandering Demons had somehow managed to sneak into Northwestern Dalang...
Without divine remains, how did they enter the Valley of Deceased Gods?
BOOM—
The sky full of golden light abruptly ceased. The Thunder Light Escape Skill shot into the sky, covering a thousand miles in an instant, leaving behind the God’s Loathful Remnant, who had just torn apart the [Suppression Talisman Sealing Skill], standing stock-still, as if deactivated.
Transforming into a streak of lightning, Qi Xiu vanished a thousand miles away with a single thought.
Compared to the God’s Loathful Remnant, the appearance of Demonic Evil Cultivators gave him a sense that something was amiss.
Something that shouldn’t appear had appeared in a place it shouldn’t be.
Anomalies like this always mean demons are involved!
Following the demonic aura he had sensed, Qi Xiu formed several spell signs with his hands. His Observing Qi Skill was pushed to its limit, and the purple hue in his eyes surged like a raging tide.
...
PFFT...
A mouthful of blood spurted out. The big-bearded man, Tie Mu, who had been the first to enter the Valley of Deceased Gods, flew forward at breakneck speed with a fiery red gourd on his back.
Behind him, several Great Demons leisurely pursued, not rushing to attack but tenaciously tracking him to prevent his escape.
"Beasts, a bunch of beasts!"
Cursing loudly, Tie Mu looked down at his right arm.
There, on his forearm, a distinct, jet-black five-fingered handprint was deeply seared into his flesh. A cold, ominous power, laced with a potent curse, was continuously spreading into his body through the handprint.
He tried to use his cultivation to remove the imprint, but no matter what method Tie Mu employed, the handprint clung like a maggot to bone, not only failing to improve but worsening.
"Damn it!"
Cursing under his breath, Tie Mu’s gaze hardened. He abruptly reached out and tore off his entire arm.
He casually tossed the severed arm aside, but the next second, as a new arm grew back, the handprint was still in the same old spot.
His expression grave, Tie Mu glanced back at the Demons distantly tailing him, his heart sinking.
Now he truly understood the terror of the God’s Loathful Remnant.
Merely being scratched by that thing had rendered his cultivation useless. If his Magical Treasure hadn’t automatically protected its master and helped him escape, he would likely have been killed by that creature.
Even now, having escaped, the injuries left by the God’s Loathful Remnant wouldn’t heal and were constantly worsening, threatening to eventually spread throughout his entire body.
It’s strange. Why did the God’s Loathful Remnant only attack me and completely ignore those Demonic Evil Cultivators? It even seemed to intentionally avoid them...
Recalling his encounter with these Demons and the God’s Loathful Remnant, an unsettling feeling arose in Tie Mu’s heart.
When he had encountered these Demonic Evil Cultivators, they were digging a large hole in the ground.
Then, the God’s Loathful Remnant emerged.
He hadn’t been the closest to the God’s Loathful Remnant at the time, yet it had bypassed the several Great Demons in front of it and charged straight for him.
Furthermore, those Demons seemed to have anticipated this. Their attitude towards the God’s Loathful Remnant was surprisingly calm, even tinged with the amusement of watching a show.
Just as this thought crossed his mind, a sudden, intense unease erupted within Tie Mu. He forcefully suppressed his internal injuries, flared his cultivation, and instantly became a fiery glow, shifting hundreds of miles sideways.
A large, black-furred hand slowly retracted into the depths of the void. If he hadn’t dodged that strike in time, he would likely have been gravely injured.
"Big-bearded guy, stop running! Let us kill you, and at least your soul will remain. If the God’s Loathful Remnant catches up to you, you’ll never reincarnate!"
Demonic energy billowed. A Great Demon with a bull’s head, a human body, clad in tattered robes, and covered in black fur, let out a bizarre laugh.
Beside him stood a Weasel Demon in a scholar’s long robe and silk headscarf, holding a folding fan with a smile in its eyes. There was also a portly man wielding a butcher’s knife, wearing a blood-stained apron, his face fleshy and his eyes a dark green.
"Old Cow, why waste so many words on him? Kill him quickly! The bones are yours, the flesh and blood are mine," the portly man spat out a glob of viscous yellow phlegm, baring a mouthful of foul, rotting teeth as he stared at Tie Mu with an eerie glint in his eyes.
"No rush," the Bull Demon said, eyeing Tie Mu warily. "These humans are veteran cultivators from Blood-Stained Peak. Who knows what hidden trump cards they might have? If we rush in carelessly, we risk being dragged into mutual destruction with him."
"No matter. We just need to hold him off. Once the God’s Loathful Remnant catches up, he’s doomed, even if he has heaven-defying abilities," the Weasel Demon giggled, lightly fanning itself, a malicious glint in its beady eyes.
"A bunch of cowards! If you don’t have the guts to face me, then I’ll come for you!"
Having seen through the three beasts’ intentions, Tie Mu, with his fiery temper, resolved, If I’m going to die, I’ll damn well take you all down with me!
"The old bastard is desperate! Keep your distance!"
Seeing Tie Mu turn and charge at them, the three Great Demons quickly increased their distance, stalling for time.
As long as they waited for the God’s Loathful Remnant to catch up, the old man was undoubtedly dead.
"Hahaha, exhilarating! Cat playing with mouse... It truly gladdens a demon’s heart," the Weasel Demon said, putting on airs as it adjusted the headscarf on its head. Its folding fan snapped open and shut with crisp sounds.
"Is it that delightful? Then how about I make it even more delightful for you?"
The sudden voice startled the Weasel Demon, causing all the fur on its body to stand on end.
Without a second thought, the Weasel Demon swept its folding fan. Instantly, countless beastly shadows roared towards the heavens as terrifying storms surged and swept through, shattering space in an indescribably bizarre and chaotic maelstrom.
The Demons who dared enter the Valley of Deceased Gods were all elites, Great Demons of Blood-Stained Peak.
Even so, the power unleashed by this Weasel Demon in its hasty attack was terrifying, nearly obliterating the void within a hundred-mile radius with a single strike.
[Universe in the Sleeve]!
Qi Xiu had no desire to get entangled with these Great Demons. He simply waved his voluminous sleeve, and a sky-obscuring black hole instantly engulfed the Weasel Demon.
Having snatched the Weasel Demon away in an instant, Qi Xiu calmly gathered his sleeve.
His sleeve was seen bulging intermittently, and from within came incessant, chilling screams that sent shivers down the spines of the Bull Demon and the fat butcher.
