Snowstorm: I'm Super Rich in the Apocalypse-Chapter 60 - Planting

Chapter 60 -60: Planting
Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng didn’t go home either, they found a deserted place where both of them entered the Space to have lunch.
The Space was even more stocked than Food City. Recently, during their resource gathering, they’d also placed some furniture in the Space. Lu Ruisheng had sectioned off a small area and built a partition by himself, creating a living room and a bedroom. If any danger arose in the future, they could lead a more comfortable life inside.
So, when they entered the Space this time, they took off their down jackets and relaxed while watching the tablet and having lunch.
After eating, the two rode their snowmobile to Shi Liang’s place.
When they arrived at Shi Liang’s, he had just returned from lunch and greeted them warmly, “Sis, brother-in-law, you didn’t come in the morning. I was worried something had happened. It’s so good to see you.”
Gu Pan didn’t hide the truth, “Indeed, something did happen. We were attacked in the middle of the night, but luckily we were prepared and resolved it. Don’t worry.” Of course, she didn’t reveal too much.
Shi Liang patted his chest, “It’s good that you’re fine, really good. Some people really are blind to attack you guys.”
Gu Pan laughed, “You have that much confidence in us?”
Shi Liang looked at them with admiration, “Of course, you guys are the most awesome in my heart.”
Lu Ruisheng also smiled, “Your flattery has improved along with your recovery from injury.”
Scratching his head and laughing, Shi Liang said, “I’m telling the truth, brother-in-law.”
After joking around for a bit, the three of them started discussing trade by the side of the road.
Shi Liang spoke with some hesitation, “Sis, I now have two people who want to barter for milk powder. One of them only has an alcohol cellar full of various drinks. But the thing is, if not stored properly, they might freeze and spoil, so he can’t really barter them away, and the price is really low. The other one has grains, but you don’t need grains. I was thinking of waiting a bit more, to see if I could find something more suitable for you, knowing that you like gold.”
Gu Pan thought for a moment, “Let’s go with the one who has the alcohol cellar. We can still get hold of milk powder after all. Keep asking around. I can still make other trades for gold.”
Shi Liang quickly agreed, “Okay, I’ll give you the address for the guy with the alcohol cellar. He’s my own client, so you don’t need to go through the higher-ups. You can trade on your own, which should give you more flexibility with your time.”
Gu Pan liked the idea of trading with just her and Lu Ruisheng. This way, they could take items out of the Space at any time and also store them at will. Of course, she was aware of how good Shi Liang was to them; doing it this way meant that Shi Liang would not make a profit.
Gu Pan took a bag of rice out of her backpack, “Don’t turn me down. Your brother-in-law and I can indeed use the alcohol.”
Shi Liang hesitated but then took it, “I won’t stand on ceremony with you, sis.”
Gu Pan smiled, “Then we’re off.”
Shi Liang quickly placed the rice in his arms, waved goodbye to Gu Pan and the others, and watched them leave before he returned to the crowd.
Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng didn’t plan to go directly to that household today. They were pretty tired from yesterday, so they decided to first go home for some rest and then look for insulated boxes in the Space to see how they could transport the alcohol.
They couldn’t use the Space in front of others; at least they needed a plausible way to transport the alcohol, so further actions wouldn’t arouse suspicion.
Also, they planned to host guests that evening and throw a feast, treating everyone to some delicious food.
Upon their return home, Cheng Yang’s voice came through the intercom, “Brother, sister, you’re back. Room 301 has moved out.”

Gu Pan didn’t expect it to be so quick, “They’re really scared of us now. From now on, I guess no one in this area will dare to mess with us.”
Feng Zhekai was especially happy, “Yesterday, not a single one of us got hurt; that made me the happiest.”
Gu Pan said, “Then tonight, let’s have a barbecue at 901. I’ll bring all the stuff, you guys just show up.”
Chen Lang cheered, “This is great, we’re finally having meat!”
The reprimand from Duan Shumei towards Chen Lang then came over the radio, which was a bit of relaxation for everyone I guess.
After putting down the walkie-talkie, Gu Pan took out eight boxes of cured meat from the Space, including a box of chicken wings, ox tongue, and three boxes of seafood, followed by slices of steamed bun. She took out a box of frozen vegetables and thawed them to make a cold dish, because using fresh vegetables wasn’t normal.
Then Gu Pan also took out a bowl of cold chicken, considering their group was all quite young, these snacks were probably all flavors everyone missed.
After everything was ready, Gu Pan called Chen Lang over the walkie-talkie to meet them at the door, then had Chen Lang help them carry the food upstairs.
Upon seeing the food, Cheng Yang’s jaw dropped, “Brother, Sister, you’re practically the saviors of our culinary world.”
Gu Pan said, “I still have plenty of good stuff hidden away. I’ll share it with you all gradually.”
As she spoke, they had already started the barbecue grill, which was charcoal-fired, warming up the room as they cooked.
Everyone sat around together, one with a small stove Gu Pan brought, and a brazier; two were enough.
Chen Shaonan ate a skewer of cold chicken, “I really missed this taste. I haven’t eaten much of it since moving to the north. Meeting Xiao Gu and Xiao Lu is really our good fortune. We haven’t starved or suffered hardships after the apocalypse.”
Duan Shumei also added, “Exactly. If it weren’t for them, we really wouldn’t have been able to survive in the apocalypse. It’s been less than five months since it started, and it’s already this brutal. Without meeting them, those of us who can’t martial arts or handle guns wouldn’t dare imagine.”
Feng Zhekai said, “As a doctor, I don’t know what kind of group would’ve captured me. By then, I would probably be a prisoner.”
Cheng Yang said, “With no real survival skills like me, I would probably be one of the first to be killed.”
Gu Pan said with a smile, “Maybe not. You actually all have survival skills and aren’t Holy Mothers. With caution in the apocalypse, you should be able to make it.”
Of course, she couldn’t say that in her past life, Feng Zhekai didn’t make it through a snowstorm, and it wasn’t long before Chen Shaonan’s entire family disappeared.
Lu Ruisheng was grilling some chicken wings. When they were done, he started distributing them to everyone and said, “Our team complements each other and is indispensable. We have to keep improving to survive in the apocalypse since we don’t know what the future will hold.”
At this point, Chen Lang asked, “Do you think it’ll always stay this cold? Wouldn’t that turn our place into the Arctic?”
Cheng Yang said, “If it really stays this cold, we won’t be able to plant anything. If crops stop growing, how will we survive?”
Chen Shaonan replied, “Then we would have to go hunting in the deep mountains. If people can survive, that means wild boars and bears in the mountains can survive too.”
Feng Zhekai said, “But humans can’t go without vitamins, and we can’t just eat meat all the time. It wouldn’t be bearable.”
Lu Ruisheng said, “Hasn’t the country started building bases? They should have greenhouses and the like for growing crops, right?”
Gu Pan said, “I think so too. Oh, right. I have some vegetable seeds and pots with soil at home. We have electricity now, and we’re burning a lot, so it’s warmer inside. Maybe we could plant some fast-growing vegetables indoors, couldn’t we?”
Lu Xuerong, who had a say on this topic, said, “I usually like to plant vegetables on the balcony, and I even grew strawberries before. I bought this house partly because it has a large external balcony. I also have some seeds at home. Let’s pool them together later and each try planting something.”
Duan Shumei didn’t object, “Fine by me. Although I don’t tend to plants myself, I grew up in a village and know how to garden.”
Cheng Yang scratched his head, “I really don’t know anything about it.”
Lu Xuerong said, “Zhekai and I will help you.”
Cheng Yang quickly expressed his thanks.
