Chapter 102: THE MASTER’S INTERFERENCE

VINCENZO’S POV

The flight back was swift but my guess was that time flew past just because of the fact that I wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings.

It had been less than a day in Costa Rica yet it felt like I had spent an eternity there which made it harder to leave the country.

As much as I wanted to stay there, I knew that I would only end up endangering their lives. It was already a big risk by even going there as I wasn’t sure that I wasn’t being watched but I couldn’t stay away and even now, it felt it had gotten worse ㅡ my pining for herㅡ the feeling threatened to consume me from inside.

When I finally got back to the mansion late at night, I checked the time. It would be morning in Costa Rica already, had she seen my gift already? Salvatore had explained that he had taken the phone from her because he couldn’t risk the location of the haven been given out so he would only allow her to use it once a week and after careful consideration for her safety, I finally agreed to that.

It was for the best. It just meant that I couldn’t hear her voice and lisㅡ oh shit. I needed to get it together.

When I opened the door to my mansion, Valentina was sitting on the couch, relief flickering across her features as soon as she saw me.

"Don Enzo" she quickly stood up to greet me, a small smile on her face.

I raised a hand to acknowledge her before I took off my jacket, draping it over the chair.

"Don’t give me that shit about being late. I know I’m an hour behind time" I sighed, not really in the mood for her to nag Incase that was what she intended to do.

"Don’t worry, that’s not why I’m still here. Henry said he wanted to speak to you and I was so worried that you wouldn’t be able to make it in time before he decided to barge into the house. I doubt you would have wanted me to shoot your right hand" She rubbed a hand over her face, a tired look replacing her earlier expression.

"That’s not half as bad as you make it out to be" I huffed.

"Emelia?" I asked, referring to the woman we had taken from the docks days back.

Valentina nodded. "Seems like you’re the only one who could get her to talk but since you were gone, I had my fun with her and she told me so I mapped things out so you could take a look at it when you came back. I have everything on my phone. We could get Julius there if we’re good about it. Kill him. End this" She explained.

Seemed solid enough, if I could get Julius out of the picture, the clash would never happen, Lord Rossi would never try to strike at us if his partner was out of the picture.

"Alright, tell me what you’ve got," I said, running a hand through my hair.

She nodded and pulled out her phone, swiping through a few images before turning the screen toward me. A blueprint of a warehouse appeared.

"This is the Bratva hideout we discovered through Emelia, she knows this because she’s been pretty...close with someone high up after she took the job so the man tells her stuff even when she didn’t need it, it seemed he was hell-bent on making her his. Anyways, It’s not just some minor safe house—it’s one of their primary operational hubs. Drug distribution, human trafficking, weapons—everything runs through here. It’s bigger than i initially thought when she mentioned it"

I leaned forward, scanning the layout. "And her information is reliable? I did say I couldn’t trust her completely"

Valentina smirked. "After what I put her through? She’d rather set herself on fire than lie to me again."

I let out a low chuckle. "Good."

She zoomed in on a specific section of the map. "The warehouse itself is heavily guarded—no surprise there. But the real activity happens underground. A network of tunnels, hidden storage rooms, and meeting spaces. According to her, the entrance to the underground facility is restricted to high-ranking members only. There’s a hidden elevator at the back of the warehouse that leads down. She’s never had any business there when delivering shipments so she just has a rough layout."

"How do we get in?"

"Two options." She flicked to another image. "Option one: full frontal assault. We storm in, take out everyone, and burn the place to the ground. Seems pretty simple."

I raised a brow. "Messy. It’ll set off alarms across their entire network. I’d hate to rake that risk."

"Exactly. Which is why we’re going with option two." She swiped again, revealing another image. "A stealth operation. Emelia says the Bratva hosts private auctions here every few weeks here in Sicily and I don’t know how this has happened under our nose for months but it’s really shocking—drugs, weapons, people. We’ll pose as buyers to gain access. Once inside, we gather intel, plant explosives in key areas, and walk out like nothing happened. Then we blow the place sky-high along with the people in it"

I considered the plan, nodding slowly. "Risky, but cleaner. How do we ensure a smooth extraction?"

"I involved Salvatore as you said and I’ll call him and let him know about this , Salvatore and a sniper team will be positioned in advance. If anything goes south, they’ll take out threats before they can react. We’ll also have a secondary exit route through an old tunnel Emelia mapped out for us with help from her Russian crush."

I leaned back, rubbing my jaw. "It’s solid. When do we move?"

"Three nights from now. Emelia is already making contact with their suppliers to set up the meeting and fix a date so she can deliver the shipments on the same day when we’re to go in."

I exhaled, pushing myself up from my chair. "Alright. Make sure Salvatore personally oversees the sniper team. I don’t want any mistakes."

"Understood."

There was a brief pause and then Valentina spoke. "Judging from the look on your face, she’s fine?"

"Perfect, she’s good. Everything’s good there" I said.

"Oh thank god, I’d hate to hear that something had happened"

I stretched, rolling my shoulders. "I got some rest on the plane. I’ll see Henry now. Tell him I’m home"

Valentina gave me a sharp look but nodded, disappearing down the hall. A few minutes later, Henry strolled into the house, hands in his pockets, his expression unreadable.

"Boss."

I studied him for a moment. "Henry."

"You’re finally back," he said, a small smirk tugging at his lips. "I was starting to think you vanished."

I tilted my head slightly. "I had business to handle. What did you want?"

Henry pulled out a chair and sat down, his gaze flickering with curiosity. "Must’ve been important if you went dark for almost twenty-four hours. Valentina was pretty snappy at me. Did we get any Intel on the Bratva? You’ve been awfully silent and I do have a plan that I feel will work out, that is, I’d you want to listen to me because lately you seem to be more secretive than usual"

I didn’t react. "Everything’s handled."

Henry leaned back, arms crossed. "Good to hear. I did everything you asked of me. Master LaRosa checked in twice a few hours ago but you weren’t here to pick the call so I just covered up for you, I feared he might send someone to come check up on the house."

A flicker of irritation crossed my mind, but I kept my face neutral. "That wouldn’t have ended well for whoever he sent."

Henry chuckled. "Fair enough. You missed some action while you were gone. Nothing major, but the Russians have been making noise. They’re on edge about something. I’ll look into that myself and keep you updated."

I filed that information away. "Noted."

"Is Adriana at home? I haven’t seen her in a while?" His gaze flickered up and I stiffened in my seat but my outwardly expression remained the same.

"She’s upstairs"

"She usually comes out for her morning stroll but she hasn’t been out in days..."

Before I could change the subject, the faint sound of the front gates opening reached my ears.

I frowned, my body tensing. "Who the hell is that?"

Henry turned his head slightly. "No one’s supposed to be let in without clearance. The security is supposed to be tight"

My expression darkened. "Exactly."

I stood up just as the unmistakable sound of car doors opening filled the air. My mind immediately went on high alert.

Henry moved to the window, peering outside. "Shit. That’s a lot of men."

I was already walking toward the front door, my steps measured as I opened the door. "Only one person is allowed in without verification."

Henry frowned. "Who?"

The answer came before I could speak.

The car door swung open, and Master LaRosa stepped out.

His presence alone sent a ripple of unease through the air. His face was unreadable—calm, but lethal. Behind him, his men poured out of the vehicles, their expressions cold and unreadable.

Then he pulled out a gun and pointed it directly at me.

Instantly, my men reacted, weapons drawn and aimed at him and his entourage.

I didn’t flinch. I met my father’s gaze, searching his face for an answer.

"Stand down," he ordered, his voice ice-cold.

No one moved. My men weren’t about to lower their weapons just because he said so. They had loyalty to me. Not him.

The flicker of fury in his eyes darkened. "I said stand down."

Silence. The tension was suffocating.

I exhaled and raised a hand. "Stand down."

There was a moment of hesitation before my men obeyed, lowering their guns but staying alert.

Master LaRosa didn’t lower his weapon immediately. He studied me for a few seconds, then he stepped forward with the gun still trained on me, his grip remaining tight.

His gaze flickered toward the house before settling back on me, his tone menacing.

"We need to talk."
