Chapter 265: The Demon of Serenity?

Arachne clicked her tongue sharply, the sound slicing through the tense air. She stared at Luna, taking in the twisted posture, the unnatural movements. It was clear. Luna had fully surrendered to the corruption.

Crystal’s eyes widened in disbelief. She stepped forward, her voice trembling as she called, "Luna?"

Luna responded with a laugh that was feral and unhinged, raw madness spilling from every breath. Her body contorted painfully, limbs bending in ways no human should move. Her blackish crimson eyes locked onto Arachne, burning with fierce hatred and something dangerously close to insanity. Then in a voice warped and distorted beyond recognition, she hissed, "I am the Demon of Serenity."

Crystal, Aria, and Greg stood frozen, stunned by Luna’s chilling declaration and Arachne’s calm acceptance.

Arachne spoke with cold finality. "This is what she has become. The only way to help her is to kill her before the corruption consumes everything."

The room fell into a heavy silence. Aria’s voice cracked as she whispered, "No. We can’t give up on her."

Greg’s fists clenched tightly. "We will find another way."

Crystal’s voice broke as she looked at Luna’s twisted form. "She’s still in there somewhere. We have to save her."

Arachne’s eyes never wavered. "I have seen this before. The corruption will drown her mind completely. Mercy lies in the end."

Luna’s feral laughter echoed again, wild and broken, drowning out all hope.

Lily’s sudden shot echoed sharply in the tense silence. Crystal, Aria, and Greg all froze, eyes wide with surprise.

Lily didn’t lower her gun. Her voice was calm but firm. "I’m not planning to kill her. She’s my best friend. This is just to buy us time."

Confusion rippled through the group. Crystal frowned. "Buying time? What do you mean?"

Aria glanced at Greg, unsure what to think. "How does a bullet help?"

Only Arachne’s gaze remained steady, but her eyes narrowed with something like disdain. "Very well," she said slowly. "I will follow your plan for now."

She paused, her voice dropping to a warning. "But know this: my presence here is limited. There is only so long I can remain on this plane. If we do not act quickly, everything will be lost."

Lily met Arachne’s look without flinching. The others exchanged uneasy glances, unsure of what lay ahead but knowing the stakes had just risen higher.

Greg’s jaw tightened. He looked at Lily and then at Luna’s twisted form. Without hesitation, he chose to believe. "Alright," he said, voice steady despite the pounding in his chest. "Let’s do this."

He surged forward, muscles coiling and releasing like a spring. His fist arced toward Luna, raw determination fueling every movement.

Aria stepped back, her hands rising instinctively. A clear, haunting melody spilled from her lips, weaving through the air. The song wrapped around the group like a shield, sharpening their senses and bolstering their strength.

Crystal moved with quiet precision, hands glowing faintly as she prepared spells to support Greg and Aria. "I’m running low on mana," she warned softly, eyes flicking nervously toward the others. "I won’t be able to keep this up much longer."

Behind them all, Arachne’s form shifted. Bone-like spider appendages burst from her back, scraping against the stone floor with a wet, chilling sound. Penny’s breath caught in her throat, a wave of disgust washing over her as she stared at the unnatural limbs.

Greg lunged forward, muscles coiled and eyes locked on Luna. She moved with terrifying speed, her limbs twisting and snapping like a wild beast. Each strike came fast and furious. Greg barely managed to dodge, sweat stinging his eyes as he narrowly avoided the jagged claws aiming for him.

Arachne’s bone-like spider limbs slammed against the stone floor, then whipped out with deadly precision. She aimed to trap Luna, to pin her down with crushing force. But Luna’s body bent and contorted unnaturally. She slipped through the grasp of the spider limbs, moving with a twisted grace that defied all reason.

Lily fired again and again. The bullets pierced Luna’s shoulder, but they were no ordinary bullets. Each one bloomed instantly into sharp, wood-like vines that tried to bind her like roots of a tree. The bark-like tendrils wrapped tightly around Luna’s flesh, attempting to hold her fast.

But Luna barely flinched. She shook off the wooden bonds quickly during the gaps between Greg’s dodges and Arachne’s attacks. The corrupted power flowing through her made her near impossible to hold.

Greg’s breath grew heavy. Every dodge cost him more strength. Crystal and Aria watched tensely, worry etched deep on their faces. Lily’s shots kept coming, but even she looked strained, her hands trembling slightly.

Luna’s speed only increased. Her attacks became wilder and more relentless. Each strike carried the maddened fury of something beyond human. The three fighters were pushed to their limits, exhaustion creeping in, but Luna seemed to grow stronger with every hit.

The battle raged on, punctuated by the sharp crack of wood snapping, the sharp crack of gunfire, and the sickening thud of limbs striking flesh and stone. Time was running out.

Penny pushed herself up from the cold stone floor, her legs shaky but determined. She knew she had to do something. Anything. Her heart pounded as she searched for a way to help.

Then she remembered. The only thing she could think to do was use her skill, Dramatic Pose.

As she struck the pose, a sudden golden light poured down from above, bathing her in a radiant glow. Music swelled around her, bright and triumphant, cutting through the chaos of the battle. The light and sound forced Luna’s attention, drawing her gaze away from the others and toward Penny.

For a moment, Penny thought she had succeeded. But then Luna’s eyes met hers. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

They were bloodshot and wild, filled with a hungry, bloodthirsty madness. The feral glare pierced right through Penny, freezing her in place.

Her heart skipped a beat. Panic bubbled up inside her chest.

"What was that?" Penny muttered to herself, her voice sharp with embarrassment. "Really dumb move me. Way to catch the attention of a crazed demon."

She swallowed hard, readying herself for whatever came next, regretting every second of that dramatic show.

Luna was about to rush Penny when an unexpected gunshot rang out and Luna’s head snapped to the side.
