Special Forces Medic-Chapter 629 - 291: Work First
Strangely, Mu Rongyun came back, but Xiao Sun, who left the brick kiln factory early, never appeared again. Hua Qingyi wanted to ask, but always felt it had nothing much to do with him; less trouble is better than more. Besides, this person might not necessarily tell him.
No one knows where Mu Rongyun got the IV drip from. The coldness of the infusion made Wu Shuang uncomfortable, while Mu Rongyun was using hot water to warm her arm. As a doctor, he genuinely looked the part.
At that moment, someone knocked on the door. Hua Qingyi glanced at Mu Rongyun and then walked to the door. "Who?"
"Ah, Young Master Hua, it's me, Lao Zhao." Director Zhao stood at the door, chuckling; he really came quickly.
"Oh, Director Zhao, wait a moment, I'll put on some clothes." Hua Qingyi deliberately waited at the door for a while before opening it. "What brings you here so late?"
"No, I specifically came to admit my mistake. Can I come in to talk? I have more information to report." As he spoke, he peered inside.
"Director Zhao, wait for me downstairs. Inside... I'm afraid that's not possible!" Hua Qingyi leaned against the door frame, right hand holding the door, completely blocking Director Zhao, who was half a head shorter, from seeing inside. The dim light sparked the imagination.
"Oh, oh, oh!" Director Zhao nodded repeatedly, wearing a sleazy expression. "Understand, understand, I'm really sorry for interrupting your enjoyment, no problem, I'll wait downstairs, take your time." After speaking, Director Zhao turned around and walked back.
"I'll go out for a while; I'll leave this place to you." Hua Qingyi turned back to whisper inside, then followed Director Zhao downstairs.
"So soon?" The person who just sat down saw Hua Qingyi come over and flushed with embarrassment.
"Work comes first." Hua Qingyi gave no explanation, sitting opposite Director Zhao.
Director Zhao, feeling the eerie gaze, coughed repeatedly, then called over the innkeeper for a bottle of wine, seeming not yet recovered from the fear, his face turning pallid.
"Are you okay, Director Zhao?"
"Too scary!" Bursting out with a nonsensical sentence, Director Zhao took a few gulps of wine. "Young Master Hua, I sincerely apologize; at that time, I was truly scared."
"Isn't it a bit late for this now? Luckily, I was quick and nothing happened; otherwise, saying sorry wouldn't help." Hua Qingyi waved off Director Zhao, finding such talk unpleasant. "I stayed there all the time waiting for you to come back!"
"To be honest, you shouldn't go to that place at night; it's haunted." Director Zhao deliberately ignored Hua Qingyi's last remark. "You refuse to believe it, but now it's... sigh!"
"Director Zhao, what exactly did you see that scared you so much?"
"Can't say, can't say!" Director Zhao repeated several times, his face even whiter, lips trembling.
"What did you see that you shouldn't have?" Hua Qingyi wouldn't let Director Zhao off easily. He forcefully slapped the table, abruptly standing up from his chair. "Director Zhao, this is your last chance; if you still refuse to explain clearly, I will suspect you of being involved in a murder case."
"What?" Director Zhao, hearing 'murder case', slipped off his chair onto the floor, unable to manage the recent three murder cases in less than a month. "Young Master Hua, please don't scare me; my heart isn't strong enough for this."
"Well, unfortunately, just this morning, another body was found in the jar at the brick kiln factory." Hua Qingyi casually looked at Director Zhao sitting on the floor, gazing down at the man from above. "The City Police Department should have transported the body for further investigation, and I can tell you the identity of the deceased right now."
"Young Master Hua!" Director Zhao suddenly cried out.
"What?" Hua Qingyi squinted his eyes. "Have you thought of something you want to tell me now?"
"While you returned to the city center, Wang Canghai went missing." Director Zhao lowered his head, Wang Canghai was notorious in the northern district, often disappearing for days before returning to his base. Hence, no one felt anything was wrong until the girl from the hardware store reported their second boss hadn't come to collect payments for days, making Director Zhao realize the seriousness.
"So?"
"I want to know if the body is Wang Canghai's."
"Director Zhao, you seem more nervous than I am about who this dead person is. Do you have some improper relationship with Wang Canghai, like you did with Ah San?"
"Young Master Hua, I won't hide anything from you at this point." Director Zhao climbed up from the floor, took a few gulps from the wine bottle, exhaled the alcohol, then belched and sighed. "Since Xiao Lin was caught by you, I've been restless, knowing this would come out sooner or later; I just didn't expect Wang Canghai would die."
"Director Zhao, this is a residential area; let's go to your office to talk." Hua Qingyi abruptly interrupted Director Zhao, glanced around, and led the way out of the inn.
Director Zhao followed him, his eyes flashed uncertainly several times, greeting people as they passed, seemingly familiar with the local residents.
"Director Zhao seems to get along well with the people here; usually well-liked?"
"Not bad, we're all old neighbors." Director Zhao moved ahead of Hua Qingyi. After closing time, the precinct's front door was locked, so he took out his keys to find the lock. "These are poor people who can't buy houses in the city center; decades have passed, and they're all very familiar, living generation by generation here; some I've watched grow up."
"Does Director Zhao have any impression of the name Hong Lian?"
"Hong Lian?" Director Zhao repeated, shaking his head. "The migrant registration doesn't include such a strange name; are you looking for this person?"
"What exactly did you see at the brick kiln factory?"
"A white shadow shifting various postures at the door, looking like a person, yet not; constantly moving, sometimes near, sometimes far." Director Zhao turned on the light, instantly brightening the room. "I wanted to get closer and see clearly, but the factory building has always been locked with no one inside. Who knew as I approached, the door started moving, the chain on the door handle fell off, like someone unlocked it from within." (To be continued.
