Special Forces Medic-Chapter 727 - 694: The Assassin in Black Clothes
Half of the area was still in revelry, while the other half had already turned off the lights and shut down. Looking down from a high place, the North District was entirely split into two, separated by darkness and light. It was deeply silent and the chaotic side didn't seem to make sense.
In the silence, several shadows slid past and landed beside a dark figure. Without any unnecessary words, after receiving a few gestures, the figures darted in different directions, while the one standing at a height flashed forward from the air, slipping into a shadow below.
Yan Fengying hadn't had a good night's sleep for several days. She felt tired, sleepy, and very hungry. Most crucially, ever since that young man came, no one else had appeared. Except for a person who delivered three meals regularly without speaking much, she had hardly seen anyone else, saving her even the energy to speak.
The environment forced Yan Fengying to calm down. She was too lazy to think about anything, and the facts had proven everything. There was no lawyer, and no one came to bail her out. Recently, she had fallen into a state of bewilderment, feeling isolated and helpless. She curled up on the bed frame, and because it was too quiet, she began to have endless wild thoughts again.
"Hey! Is there anyone there?" The accelerated heartbeat made Yan Fengying jump off the bed and bang on the iron bars forcefully.
It seemed that the entire North District had fallen into an abnormal cycle, unusually dark and silent. With wide-open eyes, she jumped back onto the bed, her whole body curled into the corner, staring unblinkingly into the darkness, feeling as if she was going to be completely swallowed. And amidst this darkness, a shadow blacker than the night was gradually approaching Yan Fengying.
Although people are small and weak, their sharp instincts become extraordinarily keen and accurate when facing danger. So, when Yan Fengying felt inexplicable fear, she sensed that someone was approaching her, and the danger became increasingly apparent as it got closer.
"Are you Yan Fengying?" The cold, low voice pierced Yan Fengying's chest. She was too scared to admit it, shaking her head with her mouth wide open. In the darkness, the man raised his gun and aimed it at Yan Fengying.
"No, don't kill me!" Seeing the opponent raise the gun, Yan Fengying searched frantically for a place to hide. With only a little space in the detention center that could be seen at a glance, the shadow observed her ugly jumping up and down without a word. Eventually, Yan Fengying realized her futility and crawled under the bed, which was a good hiding spot. The utterly subdued Yan Fengying trembled against the ground. "Why kill me?"
"You know too much. Yao Zheng sent me to take you out." The gun fitted with a silencer emitted a bullet that ricocheted off the bed frame, sparks flying, frightening Yan Fengying into screaming loudly.
"No, no!"
"Go find Yao Zheng in the underworld to settle the score!" The bullet hit the lock on the iron door, attempting to force entry.
"I don't know anything, please don't kill me, I'll give you money. Whatever Yao Zheng offered, I'll triple it. Please don't kill me, I don't know anything, I won't say anything." Yan Fengying wailed incoherently. Why haven't the police come? Isn't this a police station?
"I'm sorry, Yao Zheng said only dead people will keep their mouths forever shut. Keeping you alive makes him feel unsafe." Another gunshot sounded as the lock of the iron door was broken. The figure pushed open the door and walked towards Yan Fengying's bed.
Her heart seemed to jump into her throat. Besides screaming, Yan Fengying did nothing but scream. Her tears and snot flowed uncontrollably.
A strong hand pulled her out from under the bed, and no matter how she struggled and fought, she couldn't escape from this hand. Her hair was disheveled, her clothes covered in dust, and she looked up with her tear-stained face, appearing in an indescribably pathetic state.
Her hands were raised helplessly, her lips quivering, while the dark muzzle was mercilessly pointed at her forehead. "Please... don't... kill... me, I beg you."
The shadow let out a cold laugh, and the sound of the bullet uncasing expanded in Yan Fengying's mind as the air filled with the stink of urine. She thought she would die, but when she opened her eyes, the shadowy figure was gone, and her shoulder was marked with blood. The gunshot wound had numbed her from pain, leaving her lower body all wet.
Sounds of fighting erupted, and Yan Fengying hid under the bed, wincing in pain while warily watching outside. Was it that young man wrestling with the man in black, the same person who saved her just now? Yan Fengying couldn't understand how he managed it. Hadn't the bullet just been fired? She could still feel the coldness on her forehead.
"Who are you?" Xiao Lin's voice was heard asking for the other person's identity, immediately followed by the sound of a bullet slicing through the air. Xiao Lin dodged sideways as the bullet hit the wall, but the figure had already taken the opportunity to escape. Xiao Lin did not pursue him but instead entered the cell. "Are you okay?" he asked the person under the bed, crouching down and reaching out. "It's okay now, come out and let me see the wound."
Yan Fengying hesitated and shrank inside, groaning in pain from her shoulder. "Stay there if you want," Xiao Lin remarked.
Just as Xiao Lin was about to leave, Yan Fengying grabbed his ankle. "Wait! Don't go." She crawled out and immediately hugged Xiao Lin, clinging to him and crying aloud. "He wants to kill me, he really sent someone to kill me!"
Standing there with the woman hanging onto him, Xiao Lin stood straight as several policemen led by Shi Shuai rushed in from outside. "Boss, did something happen?" he asked, unexpectedly finding Yan Fengying clinging to Xiao Lin, crying pitifully.
"Call an ambulance; you all go with her to the hospital to get the wound treated."
"No, I don't want to, I just want to stay with you." Upon hearing she would be sent to the hospital for treatment, Yan Fengying refused to let go of Xiao Lin. "I only feel safe next to you."
"Uh... I'll call 120 first," Shi Shuai said, unable to figure out the situation, and turned to leave. Xiao Lin helplessly sat with Yan Fengying on the bed, waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
Yan Fengying seemed to remain in a state of panic, her sobs rising and falling. "How could he do this to me? Show no regard for past relationships, how could he try to kill me?"
"Who wants to kill you?"
"Yao Zheng, that bastard!" Yan Fengying blurted out without thinking, but then she seemed to realize something, and she bit her lower lip tightly, refusing to speak again.
"Yan Fengying, I can't always be by your side. Today you were lucky; otherwise, you know what the result would have been." Ignoring the blood flowing from the wound, Xiao Lin deliberately turned a blind eye. He was a doctor, but that didn't mean he had to save everyone. (To be continued.
