Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 59—Preparations
He had already gotten a direction he wanted to focus on. He wasn’t just grasping at straws now.
The battle had indeed shown Cole quite a lot and exposed him to a lot of things.
Experiencing Cain’s moment of Comprehension and advancement further consolidated his plans.
"I know what to do," Cole thought.
His body was still too weak to even try going anywhere. He had to use everything he had to escape that previous attack.
About 15 minutes later, the nurses returned to the room. Their steps were jittery and disorganized.
They kept stealing glances at Cole but did not dare to look for too long.
Only the woman who appeared to be the head nurse was confident enough to speak to Cole.
"Your friends’ injuries aren’t too severe, so they have been discharged."
"But you, you are in extremely terrible condition,It is a miracle you are even still standing." She said sternly.
"Your body looks like it had been forcefully patched together," She said while scanning Cole.
Cole could observe a subtle greenish aura emanating from her eyes while he thought.
"Patched together, how?" He questioned.
The woman looked at him with a fierce expression like he just asked the stupidest question she has ever heard.
"Don’t you know you can’t use just Life energy to heal your injuries?" She berated.
"Life energy doesn’t heal it the way it is supposed to; it just closes the wound, that’s all it does," She said.
"Young Spiriters, just doing everything without care," She mumbled.
Cole felt shocked by what he just heard. He had never expected healing using Life energy could have such detrimental effects.
"I really need to be careful," He decided.
"If you had kept on like this for a few more days, your body would have collapsed and you would have died," she said.
Cole was even further frightened by those words. The fear of death increased resolutely.
"Since you weren’t careful, you will have to stay here for a while," She said.
Cole felt both sad and happy at the same time upon hearing those words.
He felt he had more time to contemplate his Innate spirit and attempt to advance since he had nothing else to do.
But he also knew he would be missing a lot due to his absence from class.
Cole could only console himself and look on the bright side. It wasn’t like he could do anything about it.
"Won’t I be losing academic points for my absence?" He suddenly asked.
The nurse looked back with slight annoyance.
"Class had been delayed for a week, for all students to regain themselves after that incident," She responded.
Cole immediately let out a sigh of relief, but he also felt a little bit of melancholy as he thought about the dead students.
"Freaking Quinox, you all better watch out," He thought with a flaming gaze.
The nurse watched Cole with a dismissive expression as she watched him lie on the bed.
"Ignorant kids," she thought.
The remaining younger nurses still stood in the room, but they tried as much as possible to prevent any interaction with him.
Cole lay on his bed while he slowly drifted into the world of imagination.

"That damn geezer, I almost completed my mission!"
"Hadn’t that wastrel Isaac gotten involved, the kid would be dead by now," He muttered while he walked.
He was walking in a passage that looked to be underground. The walls were made from excavated rocks, resulting in a jagged appearance.
There weren’t any adornments or designs in particular in the hall, just some lights.
He continued deeper down the passage as he continued to lament.
After about fifteen minutes, he arrived at a hall that was completely different from the passage he previously was in.
The hall was extremely grandiose with golden embellishments all around it.
It looked like it was made in a rush but also made to appear extremely lavish.
In the far end of the hall was a majestic throne. Behind the throne floated a massive dark crystal that was emitting faint dark lights.
The lights seemed capable of shattering the space around them as small tears spread out from behind them.
On the throne, Dr. Thomas sat in a lotus position while Life energy revolved around him.
Wilce walked to the end of the hall with a grave expression; even a trace of fear could be seen.
He arrived in front of the throne and immediately went on his knees.
"I failed, master," He said with gritted teeth.
Doctor Thomas slowly opened his eyes as he left the cultivation state.
"Relax, it is all part of the plan," He responded.
Wilce was shocked; he expected some harsh retaliation from his master, but instead he only got steady words, and this scared him further.
"If not for that wastrel Isaac, I would have ended him directly," Wilce continued.
"You wouldn’t have," Doctor Thomas continued.
"Do you think those sly old men are that easygoing? thank your stars Isaac was there," He said.
"Your mission wasn’t to actually kill the kid; you already did what you were supposed to."
"Just lay back and relax; the plan is progressing."
The room grew increasingly chilling the moment he said those words; even Wilce felt a shiver down his spine.
"The academy won’t know what hit them," Wilce thought slyly.
————
The rest of the day was progressing peacefully when Cole suddenly felt a new intrusion in the room.
He snapped his eyes open with urgency as he prepared for the worst.
The worst he expected didn’t arrive, though; only the old man appeared in the room.
The old man calmly headed towards a bed and proceeded to sit. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Those seemingly natural actions the man performed scared Cole even further, as they weren’t natural in this situation.
The aura radiating from the old man was completely opposite to his actions.
His aura felt just like a predator ready to pounce on his prey.
After settling himself, the old man turned to look at Cole before saying calmly.
"Here’s your judgment."
