Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 77—What must be Done
Beads of sweat formed on Cole’s face as he felt the gaze of the crowd on him.
Even the referee and the student in the ring looked at him with a bit of shock.
"What did you just call me?" Stormchaser said with slight annoyance.
Cole felt ready to back out at that moment; he was feeling a lot of pressure due to the people’s eyes, but he just couldn’t leave it.
"It is what must be done," he said to himself.
"You heard me; I said you were trash," he said again to the student.
Now Stormchaser was already trying his best to calm himself. He just ended a battle to restore his pride, and now someone was stepping on it again.
He won’t let it slide at all, but he made sure to be careful. He observed Cole’s uniform with detailed eyes.
The more he looked, the more annoyed he became.
"You First-year 1-star bastard dare to call me trash."
"Has the academy fallen so much that freshmen don’t know their place anymore?"
Stormchaser’s small and lanky build was now flaring. His nostrils expanded wildly as he exhaled angrily.
Cole didn’t do too much before he responded again. He had thought about it well enough before deciding on doing this and would undoubtedly follow it through.
"I said what I said; a second-year trash is still trash." He said with a fully arrogant face.
Now the student in the ring was about to lose it completely. His eyes have grown so bloodshot he could go blind.
But Cole maintained his confident and arrogant look.
"Get down here now," the student was finally able to make out.
"Mission accomplished."
"People really easily lose their cool," he thought.
"Fine, if you want to get humiliated, I have no choice but to give you the opportunity," Cole said while he stood to his feet.
He got up and went towards the stage; the crowd followed every one of the steps with their eyes as they couldn’t just believe what was going on.
"Are Freshmen really so audacious now?" some said between themselves.
Cole was extremely nervous as he headed towards the ring, but he hid it all under a very confident face.
After some time, he finally arrived in the ring.
The referee in the ring was already smiling from ear to ear. More battles equals more pay for him.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we have something special," he shouted out.
"An inter-year battle between a Freshman and a second-year."
"The storm chaser vs ..." the referee paused as he looked towards Cole to get a name from him.
Cole hadn’t prepared any in his head, so he could only spout out the first thing to come to mind.
"Stormstealer," he said arrogantly.
"There you have it, guys, Stormchaser vs. Stormstealer." The referee shouted.
With that announcement, he rushed off the ring to get out of harm’s way.
Stormchaser was already extremely ready to battle. His eyes were locked directly on Cole, not allowing any distractions.
"You will pay for this," he said.
With that, he activated his Lightning coat again, shrouding himself from head to toe.
Cole was already prepared with the Eyes of Scrutiny, so a smile formed on his face as he began his study again.
Stormchaser noticed the smile and instantly mistook it for a taunt.
"Bastard," he shouted out before rushing straight ahead.
Cole was ready with his Kinetic Acceleration already activated; there wasn’t really a time gap between the activation and effect anymore since Cole advanced.
As the opponent approached, he already blazed to the other side of the ring.
"You can’t even touch me," Cole said while his eyes were still locked on his opponent.
Stormchaser didn’t respond to him, though; he only turned around and charged again.
With the same action, Cole dodged again to the other side of the ring.
The crowd felt amazed by Stormchaser’s situation, so they all laughed and began cheering, Cole on.
Cole felt a little happy by the cheers, but he didn’t allow them to distract him from why he was here.
"All I need to do is completely study the ability," he said.
He didn’t even bother trying to attack; instead, he kept dodging all about, but every single time, the space of safety grew shorter.
Stormchaser was learning and adapting and even slowly regaining his Cool.
But Cole didn’t mind at all; he wanted only the only thing on his
mind.
"Booooo,"
The crowd started shouting out as they grew bored of Cole’s continuous dodging.
"Fight like a man!" One of them shouted out.
Stormchaser’s face had now grown almost serene; he didn’t attempt to charge straight at Cole.
Instead, he just stood in his place and stared at Cole.
Cole wondered what was going on and immediately began scanning his surroundings hurriedly.
He wasn’t able to get anything, though, as nothing appeared around him.
"Just a little more, and I think I will be done," Cole thought.
Then he began feeling it; Lightning was spreading into his body, and the source was beneath his feet.
"Have a taste of Lightning Infusion," the student said with a smile.
He felt quite confident he had trapped Cole in his place, and there was nothing he could do.
Lightning Infusion allowed him to send lightning through objects into other things, and this time he used Cole.
The damage caused by the attack wasn’t that high, so he doesn’t really utilize it in combat, but it allowed him to stun and stall opponents, and that was exactly what he did.
Seeing Cole was already unable to move on short notice, the student was ready to humiliate him.
He charged straight at Cole with his hand opened in a slapping form upon arriving in the right position.
He jumped high into the air to increase the impact.
Cole watched all of this with wide eyes but a soft smile.
He was done.
He had been able to get the intricacies and confidently say he knew how the ability worked.
So in that vein, he decided to end the battle.
While staring at the student coming straight at him from the air.
"I give up," he said with a smile.
"Uhhhhhhhh," the crowd shouted in unison.
