Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 81—Scheme
Cole watched Eleanor stand behind him while completely ignoring his presence.
Her eyes were locked solely on the man in front of her.
"You vermin really need to know your place," she said with an annoyed look.
While still holding the sword, she sent out a tiny flick through the air straight at the Man’s head.
The man was too scared to even dodge; his eyes were shaking violently while he muttered.
"Demonic spirit Eleanor,"
The attack arrived in front of him silently and hit him squarely on the head.
A small cave appeared at the point of contact, and the man’s muscles lost their tonicity as he fell towards the ground unconscious.
Seeing the threat neutralized so easily, Cole felt quite amazed and in awe of the power displayed by the teachers.
"They all must be really strong," Cole thought with bright eyes.
He hurriedly deactivated the Lightning coat in a bid to hide it for some weird reason.
After neutralizing the threat, Eleanor now felt free enough to look at Cole.
"What are you doing out here?" her eyes judged him.
"Uhmmm, I came for some personal training," Cole lied.
"Be careful next time; trouble seems to always revolve around you," she said.
Cole didn’t even try to retort since he knew that what she said was actually the truth.
"Why do I actually almost always get in trouble," he asked himself.
"And you should really take care of that technique if it is really special," Eleanor said.
"Technique? "Ohh, the lightning Coat,"
Cole figured Eleanor attributed his lightning coat to a technique, but he couldn’t seem to figure out why.
He tried thinking about it, but his mind still wasn’t settled from the close shave with death.
He looked ahead to see Eleanor already far in the distance. He looked behind him to see the growing bushes.
Immediately, he ran in a bid to get out of there as soon as possible and prevent any more accidents.
"If it weren’t for Miss Eleanor’s intervention this time, I really might be dead," Cole thought.
He had been feeling a little confident ever since he had advanced to the awakened stage, but now he is realizing just how weak he actually was.
"I was saved by the man called Isaac before and now Miss Eleanor. When exactly will I start standing on my own?" He questioned.
Lost in his head, he approached the occupied part of the academy. He had been quite ruffled up by the encounter, but he didn’t really seem to care about his appearance.
A few more minutes later, he arrived at the real academy; the few students on the street stared at him with weird eyes while they murmured.
"Where is he coming from, and why does he look like that?"
Cole was used to all of this; since the time of his stay in the slum till now, his people had always been doing the same thing.
He had no reason to care anymore. He didn’t attempt to stop by anywhere else, only going straight for his hostel.
He hadn’t really been staying there for the past few days due to his search for a new ability, but now that he had gotten one, he could finally rest a bit.
After thirty minutes of running, he arrived at the hostel and entered his room.
Bryan was in the room, sitting on his bed in a lotus position, but he doesn’t seem to be cultivating it, as Cole couldn’t feel the flow of Life energy converging at all.
Cole decided to not disturb him, so as quietly as he could, Cole went towards his own side of his room to rest.
"Coming from the arena?" Bryan asked.
"I didn’t disturb you, did I? I saw you busy cultivating," Cole responded.
"I was just meditating, not really cultivating."
"Why do you look so ruffled up, did you get into a fight?" Bryan asked worriedly.
"It’s nothing," Cole lied.
As much as he would have wanted to tell Bryan he was attacked by Quinox again, he had no explanation as to what he was doing in the forest, so he could only completely hide everything.
"Okay then, do you," Bryan replied before returning to his meditation.
Cole looked relieved that Bryan didn’t press further as he went to lie on his bed.
While he rested, he thought about his encounters while evaluating his response to them.
"I was overconfident and not careful enough."
"I need to work on that."
He had completely forgotten about the need to report what he saw in that place since his mind was now dominated by the attack.
"What was miss Eleanor even doing in that location?" he suddenly realized.
He tried guessing for a while, but none of his thoughts seemed convincing enough to actually believe, so he eventually gave up.
He then proceeded to cultivate for a while to regain a bit of his confidence and reassert himself after that encounter.
While Cole was cultivating, though, someone else was scheming heavily against him.
"What were you able to get about him?" a prideful voice asked.
"After asking around, I found out he was an orphan from the slum," a jittery voice responded.
"A lowly scum like that dared to humiliate me," Sylvester said while his face grew red.
"My brother needs to hear of this," he said.
Thinking about his brother’s reaction, he immediately denounced that idea.
"Maybe he shouldn’t know for now; I will handle it myself. He will have no idea what hit him."
"Go and get me Mr. Claus; tell him I have something for him," He said to the person kneeling before him.
"This must work."
While Cole was cultivating, the day flew by in a blur, and in no time, everywhere was dark.
"I really need to get some sleep; tomorrow is an important day," Cole thought.
He moved to lie on his bed, ready to fall asleep; due to all the accumulated fatigue, Cole fell asleep almost instantly.
"Get up, Cole; today is the day," he heard in his sleep.
He was immediately activated while he thought about what the day would be holding.
"The Academic mission will begin today," he thought with a fiery expression.
