The Shadow, or rather Night, Elemental released an odd vibrating sound that shook the airwaves. It was like a slow building, deep bass roar that echoed through the entire pocket dimension, its core pulsing violently as its law pressed harder against the storm’s natural rhythm.

The crimson-red lightning surging through the domain was faltering further, dimmed by the relentless advance of the darkness.

Yet, Lassim could feel the Storm Law resist giving up its natural hegemony of the space made from its law power, its chaotic energy pushing back in defiance of the night elemental’s control.

Lassim’s storm-filled gaze seeming to rotate in a new speed, twirling at almost a hypnotic rate as his spiritual pressure surged, amplifying his connection to the storm.

He wasn’t just an observer in this fight—he was part of the storm itself now with his new law, the red lightning within him, tethering him to the Tempest’s Cradle and the space in a way no one else could understand.

The Lightning Elemental flared once more beside him, its jagged form crackling with red lightning as it could no longer wait, launching a series of attacks at the tendrils.

Each bolt of lightning severed the shadowy extensions, forcing them to retreat briefly before reforming.

The elemental conveyed a surge of urgency, its emotions raw and unfiltered as it urged Lassim to act.

Lassim nodded, his mind racing as he analyzed the situation. "Follow my lead," Lassim said aloud, his grip on his halberd tightening as crimson and azure arcs of lightning crackled along its shaft. "We’ll cut this thing down piece by piece."

He activated [Storm’s Dance], the miniature lightning storms around his feet activating with his fused mana to allow him to compress the space and instantly travel to the boundaries of the advancing Night mana.

The oppressive aura of the [Law of Encroaching Darkness] pressed against him as he closed the distance towards the central region where the night elemental and its core were, but Lassim didn’t waver. The red lightning within his fused mana flared, a giant school of the new red lightning sprite fish emerging and pushing back against the darkness.

The shadowy tendrils reacted immediately, lashing out at Lassim with blinding speed. Each strike carried the weight of the elemental’s law, pressing forward with the inevitability of nightfall.

Lassim twisted through the air, his movements smooth and as fluid as Mari’s billowing fins as he evaded the attacks with ease. Sometimes a clean twisting dodge or a simple sidestep with [Storm’s Dance]. His halberd swung, carving through the tendrils with streaks of crimson and azure, glittering lightning.

The Lightning Elemental followed closely behind, no longer holding back, its attacks creating openings for Lassim to exploit.

The elemental made copies of itself and mimicked the giant fist attacks that he first used against Lassim all those months ago.

These massive constructs of red lightning and black clouds like giants struck the tendrils, forcing them to retreat.

Lassim could feel the balance shifting slightly. The night was expending limited energy that it struggled to regenerate in a space with extremely limited night mana, allowing the storm to reclaim small portions of its natural flow.

"Not enough," Lassim muttered as he swung his halberd again, releasing a series of [Storm Slash] attacks this time with the weapon’s spatial energy distorting the air around it. Each strike disrupted the tendrils’ and the blanket advancement of the night mana’s structure, but the elemental’s core at the center remained untouched, its oppressive aura seemingly growing stronger with each passing moment.

Lassim then realized that pushing it back was forcing it to reabsorb the expanded night mana and recondense it, ultimately forcing it to regain some of its power.

Seeing this, he redirected his focus, channeling his fused mana into the surrounding space and storm itself. The crimson-red lightning arced unpredictably, amplifying the storm’s chaos and natural ability to further disrupt the tendrils’ movements. The elemental’s advance came to a complete standstill as the storm’s natural rhythm surged back to life.

The Lightning Elemental conveyed a surge of emotion—approval and determination—as it intensified its attacks.

Together, they began to unravel the Night Element’s grip on the domain, but Lassim knew they were still far from victory.

The Night Elemental roared again, its form begun shifting as the gray veins surrounding its core expanded. Waves of night mana rippled through the pocket dimension along with another vibrating roar, forcing Lassim and the Lightning Elemental to retreat briefly.

The tendrils coiled themselves around each other into thick spears, their movements faster and more coordinated as they targeted Lassim directly this time. The Night Elemental realizing the newcomer was the bigger threat.

Lassim was forced into an emergency, gritting his teeth as he twisted through the air to evade the tendrils. The red lightning within him pulsed violently, creating a barrier of energy that repelled the attacks long enough for him to create some distance, but not without some making it through and causing injury.

One spear struck his right calf, puncturing a large hole through it and causing his right foot to dangle helplessly as he floated in the sky. He activated [Lifestream Aegis] and pushed his fished mana to its limits to try and regenerate the lost muscle and tissues as soon as possible. Otherwise his ability to use [Storm’s Dance] was limited until then.

Thankfully he could still use [Teleport] if needed but the condensing of space was less risky and faster to activate.

The Night Elemental’s movements became more deliberate, each tendril striking with precision as it noticed his injury, attempting to overwhelm Lassim. This continued for a long five minutes before Lassim felt his leg had mostly returned to normal and the muscles, and tendons were connected again.

"Time’s up," Lassim muttered, his storm-filled gaze narrowing. "Nice effort, but let’s see what you do about this."

He kept [Lifestream Aegis] activated for additional protection for his next plan as he used [Storm’s Dance] again, the miniature storms around his feet reappearing as he took a step towards the shadowy region.

As Lassim neared the core in just four steps, the oppressive aura of the [Law of Encroaching Darkness] instely surrounded him.

The elemental’s presence pressed hard against his spiritual pressure and divine mana, its energy attempting to suffocate him and his [Law of the Storm]. Lassim could feel the strain in his fused mana, the [Lifestream Aegis] barrier, and even his enhanced body.

It was like he was being crushed by an eternal night, the night mana easily creeping into the crevices of his robes—anywhere there was shadow—and squeezing him until his bones creaked.

But he wasn’t about to let up with what he had in mind.

Lassim channeled his fused mana into his halberd, letting the red lightning surge through the weapon’s shaft. The energy crackled violently, mingling with streaks of azure and faint iridescent glimmers from the Space element.

The storm responded to his intent, its chaotic energy aligning with his will as he prepared to strike.

He focused on the white tendrils spreading from the core to the elemental, his storm-filled gaze narrowing as he analyzed their movements.

Each tendril followed a specific rhythm, their patterns predictable. Lassim adjusted his stance, "Let’s see how you handle this," Lassim said as he raised his halberd.

The storm around him boomed with thunder in response, the crimson arcs of lightning in the surroundings and from the Lightning Elemental aligning with his intent as they lashed out.

A large 1,000 school of lightning spirit fish emerged from the surroundings, popping into existence from his intent and will from the Lightning as they "swam" towards the Night Elemental.

The Elemental’s core pulsed violently, the jagged gray veins surrounding it radiating waves of energy that rippled through the domain as each fish and lightning bolt struck and bit through the night mana’s tendrils.

The thicker and quicker tendril spears retaliated, popping the fish in large waves but endlessly using up its energy reserves.

Lassim continued the assault by directing more of the lightning and sprites to attack while releasing a [Storm Slash], causing the Night Elemental to go completely on the defensive.

He advanced through the air, closer to his target as his [Storm’s Dance] allowed him to evade the tendrils’ strikes that were growing more desperate by the second.

He still attacked as he advanced, each step of his left trails of crimson lightning that disrupted the shadows, forcing them to retreat. The spatial mana within his fused mana distorted the air, creating pockets of instability that further destabilized the tendrils.

The Lightning Elemental joined the vanguard assault, its jagged but cloudy form flaring a bright crimson as it unleashed a barrage of red lightning strikes. The combined attacks forced the tendrils to spread back into their thinner sizes from earlier, creating openings for Lassim to press forward even more.

"Keep it up!" Lassim shouted over the sounds of the booming thunder and lightning, his storm-filled gaze locked on the core.

He could feel the storm’s energy shifting, its natural rhythm beginning to overpower the elemental’s influence. The entire balance of the pocket dimension was going back to their favor. He even noticed the Lightning Elemental’s power seemed to be subtly increasing as the balance swayed in their favor.

But the Night Elemental wasn’t done yet.

With another bass-filled vibration roar that shook Lassim’s insides violently, its form shifted. Waves of shadow energy rippled outward, forcing Lassim and the Lightning Elemental to retreat slightly.

The tendrils coiled tighter around the core, their movements more erratic as the elemental tried to consolidate its power. It started to release its grip on the domain to return the night mana back towards itself, causing it to begin to swell in size and power.

Before, the Elemental was easily within the realm of Spirit Mystic level 2, but now it’s power continued to rise quickly.

Lassim and the Lightning Elemental released several more attacks and lightning bolts but the elemental’s defenses were becoming more formidable, while the oppressive weight of its [Law of Encroaching Darkness] pressing harder against the storm.

"This thing’s not giving up," Lassim said towards the Lightning elemental. "We need something more and NOW! Otherwise it’ll be too strong."

The Lightning Elemental flared beside him, its attacks creating brief openings in the tendrils’ defenses as if in confirmation to the dire situation.

Lassim could only do what he knew and keep using his strongest attack [Storm’s Slash], using the opportunity to press forward as the wheels in his brain turned, desperately trying to think of something strong enough to overpower and defeat the elemental. His halberd launched a flurry of back-to-back-to-back swirling tempests of red lightning, fused mana and schools of sprite fish.

Lassim’s mind raced as his halberd tore through the advancing tendrils. His attacks were cutting them down, but not quickly enough to stop the elemental’s core from growing stronger.

The oppressive force of the [Law of Encroaching Darkness] was growing stronger, thicker and darker, and he knew they were working against the clock.

Lassim’s halberd swung again, a brutal arc that sent a swirling wave of crimson lightning and fused mana toward the elemental’s core.

The storm boomed in response, flashes of red and azure streaking across the dimmed sky as the tendrils of shadow recoiled. The attacks were working, but Lassim could feel it—this wasn’t enough to destroy the elemental outright.

The Night Elemental roared again, its core pulsing as the night mana surrounding it condensed further, making him realize it was now most likely reaching Spirit Mystic level 5, if his guess was accurate.

Lassim frowned in frustration, his brain working at full speed as he tried to piece together a solution. He couldn’t let it grow any stronger or its ability to regain control would be too easy. If the elemental reabsorbed enough energy to strengthen itself even a single level higher, it would be able to easily overwhelm him and the lighting elemental with the battle would shift entirely in its favor.

As another tendril lashed out, Lassim countered with a strike of his halberd, releasing a burst of crimson lightning. The bolt struck true, disintegrating the tendril in a violent explosion of light.

But as the energy dispersed, something unusual caught his attention.

The crimson arcs didn’t simply vanish—they lingered in the air for a fraction of a second, flickering brightly before converging into a single, jagged streak.

The bolt snapped upward into the stormclouds, splitting the dense clouds overhead before disappearing entirely.

For that brief moment, the sky above looked shattered, fragmented into a jagged web of light before returning to its darkened state.

Lassim froze, his mind locking onto the sight. His storm-filled eyes swirled quickly like hurricanes as he replayed the moment in his mind.
