Spoiled by the CEO after amnesia!-Chapter 26 The Car is Too Precious to Take a Hit
Jiayi’s eyes widened as a thought flashed through her mind!
The moment that man arrived at JJ, Manager Cui was inexplicably transferred to the warehouse. Could this really be a coincidence? Who else could it be?
Seeing her change in expression and sudden silence, Tang En’en whispered, "That old witch got what she deserved... Who told her to scold people all the time? You’re so lucky. If Manager Cui hadn’t been transferred immediately, she would probably be scolding you right now. You’re really lucky, and I don’t know which company executive made the decision, but they are truly your benefactor!"
She hesitated guiltily, saying nothing, when Tang En’en suddenly let out a soft exclamation, pointing to her skirt, "Huh, did you change into new stockings? Where did you get them?"
"Yeah." Jiayi reflexively pulled back her legs, perfunctorily replied, "I always carry an extra pair of new stockings with me."
Really? She hadn’t seen her holding anything when she went into the restroom just now. Tang En’en was very doubtful, her eyes suddenly brightening as she fluttered her eyelashes, "Hey, don’t lie to me. Did someone really bring them to you? You were in the restroom for so long..."
Having an overly enthusiastic new colleague was a good thing, but dealing with her curiosity was quite exhausting. Jiayi smiled helplessly. "What are you talking about? Who would send me stockings? And even if they did, they couldn’t send them into the restroom." In her heart, however, she felt a stampede of a thousand "grass mud horses" rushing through, thinking, there are people like that, men who not only send women stockings but also deliver them to the restroom, and it was the illustrious CEO to boot!
Just then, not far from where they were sitting, the sound of female colleagues discussing caught their attention.
"Wow, Manager Cui has been transferred. Will Mina have a chance to take her place?"
"It’s possible. Mina is beautiful and capable. Just last month, she landed a big client, and she’s always been favored by the company’s upper management!"
A wave of flattery made the young girl in the center curve her red lips into a smile that seemed to convey her determination to succeed.
Qiao Mina, with her internet celebrity-like delicate features, v-line face, slender waist, and notable curves, had an innocent look in her large eyes. Interrupting the flattering remarks of her colleagues, she bit her plump lower lip, her tone a bit aggrieved, "Manager Cui has just left, you guys shouldn’t be like this. It wouldn’t be nice if she heard us, and besides, I’m so young and lack seniority. How could I be capable of being a manager?"
Jiayi noticed that the group led by Qiao Mina were the very ones who had been the most vicious in mocking her torn stockings earlier.
Tang En’en covertly gave her a knowing look and whispered, "That Qiao Mina, she really knows how to play innocent. She’s very ambitious and has ousted several of her competitors since she joined the company, some of whom were even her close friends. As for men, she’s very good at that too. Our executive managing director at JJ, Samuel Gu, is a ’diamond bachelor,’ rich and handsome. Every time he appears, Qiao Mina knows exactly how to pose and play the pure lotus flower."
At that moment, a supervisor came to inspect, and the cluster of women in the office quickly fell silent, not speaking any further.
The first day at the company passed without incident.
Without Manager Cui around, Jiayi felt much more relaxed. After reviewing JJ’s materials and asking Tang En’en about anything she didn’t understand, she became familiar with the business knowledge.
When it was time to clock out, Jiayi and Tang En’en left the company together. As they walked out of the office building, Tang En’en said with a smile, "Where do you live? Which direction? Do you want to share a taxi or take the subway together?"
Jiayi hurriedly replied, "No need, I’ll just walk."
Tang En’en guessed she had just started working and didn’t have much money, wanting to save, and said generously, patting her shoulder, "It’s no big deal, sis, I’ll treat you to a cab ride!"
Jiayi smiled, "Really, there’s no need. I’m used to walking. It’s good exercise."
Tang En’en, seeing her insistence, felt somewhat sympathetic. She had learned today that Jiayi was not a local and had only recently come to G City, introduced to JJ by an acquaintance.
A young girl, not a local, striving alone in a foreign city, it’s really not easy. Tang En’en frowned, "You still have to spend the living expenses you ought to. Don’t worry, I’ve been working a few years longer than you, so I have the money to treat you to a cab ride."
Jiayi was quite moved by Tang En’en’s words, feeling fortunate to have met such a friend and also feeling a bit guilty for not being able to tell her the whole truth, when a woman’s voice accompanied by the clacking of high heels floated over:
"Just taking a cab, why all this fuss? It makes others think that the employees at JJ are stingy—wonder how that reflects on JJ’s image."
A few female colleagues were surrounding Qiao Mina as they walked out, one of them couldn’t help but sneer.
Qiao Mina slightly tilted her chin up, her gaze falling on Jiayi with a touch of arrogance.
When she noticed this newcomer today, she had speculated that although the girl’s suit was not fashionable, nor a trendy luxury brand of the season, it seemed to be custom-made attire, possibly even more impressive than those popular luxury brands.
She was shocked at first, wondering if the girl was some low-profile wealthy descendant. It had been awhile since JJ had brought in someone new, especially such a young lady.
But after seeing Manager Cui scold Jiayi as if it was nothing, Qiao Mina relaxed, probably having thought too much. If the girl really had a powerful background, how could Manager Cui dare to scold her?
Now, seeing Jiayi insist on walking home, unwilling to even take a cab, Qiao Mina was even more convinced—the girl was nothing but a poor soul.
That outfit must have been begged or borrowed from someone she knew. On her first day at such a glamorous company, she would certainly try to dress up as best she could.
Thinking this, Qiao Mina smiled, "My car is over there. Would the new colleague like a ride? This is a business district; it’s quite far from the residential areas. Walking back would be very tiring."
Jiayi looked over, a red Mini Cooper was parked next to the building, as eye-catching as its owner.
"Mina, you’re so kind and generous," complimented a female colleague.
This was clearly not an invitation but an act of charity, an attempt to show off her grace in front of her colleagues, not even deigning to address Jiayi by name! Tang En’en answered on Jiayi’s behalf, "No need, thank you!" With that, she pulled Jiayi’s hand and they walked away.
Jiayi, thinking of George waiting ahead at the intersection, couldn’t be bothered to say more and left with Tang En’en.
Qiao Mina watched the two women walk away, her smile curling with contempt.
After leaving the office building, Tang En’en saw that Jiayi was still determined to walk home and bade her farewell before leaving first.
Jiayi hurriedly walked forward, and about ten minutes later, she arrived at the intersection where George was supposed to wait for her in the morning.
The familiar luxury car was parked quietly in its spot, appearing like an understated monarch amidst the passing traffic, attracting the attention and amazement of many pedestrians, who wondered who the car was waiting for.
As she approached, the car door automatically opened, and she quickly jumped in amidst the envious gazes of the onlookers.
George greeted her respectfully, "Miss is off work now."
