Chapter 131: Chapter 90: Intervertebral Disc 3

"Iโ€™ll go talk to him." ๐•—๐ซ๐ž๐•–๐•จ๐ž๐—ฏ๐š—๐• ๐˜ƒ๐ž๐š•.๐œ๐—ผ๐š–

Chen Yu sighed and went to find J Kidd.

Just then, he ran into Nelson and Skiles, who had hurried over.

When he heard it was a bulging disc, Nelson was stunned and broke out in a cold sweat.

Before the game, J Kidd had looked to be in good condition, and Nelson had been planning to let him play. If Chen Yu hadnโ€™t arrived and discovered the problem, who knows what more serious issues might have arisen if he had played without any treatment.

Skilesโ€™s brow furrowed. "So, will he be able to play again?"

Bird retired early at age 35, his career tormented by back injuries caused by a herniated disc.

Chen Yu said, "Playing isnโ€™t the problem, of course. Right now, itโ€™s just a bulge, and itโ€™s not pressing on any nerves, so it wonโ€™t affect his ability to play. But heโ€™ll need to be careful and protect it to keep it from getting worse."

J Kiddโ€™s current condition was nowhere near the point where he couldnโ€™t play.

โ€™Olajuwonโ€™s bulging disc is much more severe than his, and heโ€™s still chasing a championship, isnโ€™t he?โ€™

Skiles finally let out a sigh of relief. Hardaway was already out for the season. If J Kidd was out, too, the Phoenix Suns might as well call it quits for the season.

When they got to the examination room and J Kidd heard the diagnosis, he was completely stunned.

"So youโ€™re telling me I got a bulging disc from that one fall? Fuck! That bastard Bruce... Iโ€™m gonna kill him." J Kidd exploded with profanity.

After his tirade, J Kidd demanded angrily, "Chen, youโ€™re the head of the leagueโ€™s player health management department. Arenโ€™t you going to do something about this?"

Chen Yu froze. He really hadnโ€™t considered that.

โ€™Indeed, does this kind of intentional injury, even if itโ€™s from an opponent and not a teammate, fall under my departmentโ€™s jurisdiction? The main problem is that itโ€™s hard to define. For instance, in this case, Bowen could just say he was trying to pull him, just going for a common foul, but he misjudged his strength.โ€™

Besides, Chen Yu remembered there used to be plenty of this kind of behaviorโ€”intentionally trying to cripple players, brawls, and fights.

The Bad Boy Legion of the Pistons.

And Tomjanovich, he practically had his brains beaten out of his skull.

Skiles immediately chimed in, "Thatโ€™s right. We canโ€™t just let this go. Iโ€™ll talk to Brian and have him appeal to the league. We need to get Bowen a flagrant foul and a suspension."

Chen Yu sighed.

โ€™Fines, suspensions... whatโ€™s the use? The damage is already done.โ€™

โ€™Then again, thereโ€™s my system.โ€™

Chen Yu considered using his systemโ€™s healing abilities. Perhaps they could produce some kind of unbelievable result.

โ€™If it really works, that would be incredible.โ€™

โ€™After all, quite a few players in the NBA suffer from herniated discs. And for many players, especially big men, a herniated disc is the very reason their performance falls off a cliff. This thing is basically an incurable condition; thereโ€™s no real cure.โ€™

The next day, the team returned to Phoenix as scheduled. Chen Yu, however, went to NBA Headquarters to take care of some business for the Player Management Department.

There wasnโ€™t much to do, probably because it wasnโ€™t the end of the season yet, so injuries hadnโ€™t started to pile up.

Once he was done, Chen Yu hurried back to Phoenix.

With J Kidd injured, Chen Yu now had to figure out how to "grind" for High-Level recovery effects.

โ€™For medical treatment, he could grind by performing difficult surgeries, but for recovery? For the moment, Chen Yu really couldnโ€™t think of a way to grind for that.โ€™

Upon returning to Phoenix, his first stop was the hospital to check on Ronaldoโ€™s condition.

Just as he finished parking and got out of his car, Chen Yu heard someone calling his name.

He turned his head and saw the door of a nearby van slide open. A figure inside was waving at him.

It was Cavagale. He got out of the van first. Behind him, Redondo was slowly easing himself out of the vehicle on crutches.

"Heโ€™s agreed to the surgery," Cavagale said urgently, running up and panting.

Chen Yu glanced at Redondo, who was now out of the van but standing still on his crutches. He grunted softly. "Donโ€™t just have him stand there. Come on in."

โ€™In the end, the guy just couldnโ€™t give up that green pitch.โ€™
