SSS Awakening: I Can Class Change at will-Chapter 315: Death of A Titan
Moon’s eyes finally spotted what remained of the base in the distance. Bodies were scattered on the ground, following the same pattern of destruction the mysterious organization left wherever they struck.
This facility was significantly smaller than any base Moon had previously visited or even observed from afar. If he had to estimate its capacity, it would accommodate perhaps a hundred awakeners at most—clearly a recently established outpost that had met its end far too soon after construction.
"There’s no one here... I guess this location doesn’t serve their purposes," Moon muttered as he walked through the broken base, finding nothing but corpses scattered among the ruins.
The base showed signs of ongoing construction and minimal fortification. It was the perfect, vulnerable target that would fall immediately under attack.
Unlike the larger facilities that had been captured and occupied, this place had simply been destroyed and abandoned by the organization
Moon sighed before departing the gruesome scene and resuming his journey. He hadn’t lost significant travel time investigating this location since it lay directly on his route, and what he found had actually provided valuable intelligence about his enemies’ goals behind their operation—or at least narrowed it down.
These attackers weren’t solely focused on capturing bases for their own use. They were also destroying smaller facilities that offered no value, leaving them as empty ruins regardless of whether the Association or other groups might attempt to reclaim them later or not.
To Moon, this suggested their campaign wasn’t just designed to merely seize control of the bases, but to disrupt the very foundation of Awakeners across multiple regions. They wanted to cripple the entire system of bases and supply lines that allowed awakener society to function effectively.
This was not to mention their casual slaughter of human lives.
Moon noted his observation, understanding their broader strategy would be crucial for predicting their next moves and potentially finding ways to counter it.
Although he wasn’t a hero, Moon naturally wasn’t going to let the mysterious faction destroy the awakener society. He was part of it, and destroying it also meant that he would be affected. And, based on his experience with them, these people were certainly not going to be friendly with him.
They weren’t exactly friendly to those that weren’t part of their faction and it showed. Whilst they could try to recruit Moon, he certainly wasn’t going to accept—which would bring him right back to the position of an enemy.
Moon urged his Direhorse forward towards his destination.

"BREAKING NEWS!"
The anchor’s voice permeated in every household across the city as emergency broadcasts interrupted the regular shows.
"Humanity has lost a hero today. A titan has fallen, and our world mourns his passing. Ascender George Jenkins—the distinguished leader who oversaw the team that successfully cleared the first S-rank gate in recorded history—has been killed in action alongside the brave defenders who fought under his command."
The news anchor’s face grew more determined as she continued the somber report.
"But their sacrifice was not meaningless! Those who continue to protect this nation and safeguard our prosperity will honor their memory through action. As Ascender Jenkins once said: ’We die trusting the living who follow in our footsteps.’"
The announcement of the Ascender’s death sent shockwaves throughout New Avalon, triggering immediate unrest and panic across multiple districts.
Zone D, once a pristine example of prosperity, had been transformed into a wasteland. Most buildings lay in ruins, reduced to rubble and twisted metal, while countless civilians remained trapped beneath the debris—some of the stronger ones injured, whilst most of the others already claimed by the destruction.
"The cowardly attacker maintained his identity hidden throughout the engagement," the reporter continued, her voice rising with obvious anger. "In a final act of desecration, the masked assailant took Ascender Jenkins’ body with him when he retreated from the battlefield."
It was a huge blow to the Awakener’s Association. An Ascender—one of humanity’s powerhouses—had been not just defeated but killed by an unknown enemy whose identity remained a mystery. The theft of the body was the last nail to the coffin.
Emergency sirens wailed continuously across the city as rescue teams from other zones worked desperately to locate survivors, while awakeners and Evolvers tried to find the enemies.
The Enemies had all retreated after the death of George Jenkins, as if their goal had been fulfilled. Most entered through the portals, returning their respective sanctuaries.
As for the Ascender, his location remained unknown—but one thing was certain. He wasn’t inside the Sanctuary, there was no gate to lead to the Third Sanctuary inside Zone D.
Everyone watching understood that the age of relative peace and security that had defined recent years was clearly coming to an abrupt and violent end.

Inside the Second Sanctuary, Emma’s expression grew increasingly troubled as she received the urgent report. She stood right outside the recovery room where Alaric remained unconscious, his condition still precarious despite the healing he’d received.
His injuries from attempting to forge his own path had indeed proven more severe than his previous attempt, leaving him vulnerable and dependent on careful monitoring.
"You’re saying there have been massive coordinated attacks across Earth, the First Sanctuary, AND the Second Sanctuary?" Emma asked.
"Yes, precisely that," the messenger confirmed with a troubled nod. "Many of our facilities have been targeted simultaneously. Our forces have managed to repel most attacks, but not without casualties and damage."
Emma’s frown deepened, the timing couldn’t have been worse—she couldn’t abandon Alaric while he was so defenseless and vulnerable. These same attackers might specifically target him if they had intel of his weakened state.
But she was equally worried about her family members, and about Selene.
"Selene! Did you send anyone to ensure her safety?" Emma’s eyes suddenly widened with fear for the young woman she’d grown to care for like a sister.
Such a large-scale attack might very well target family members of prominent figures like Alaric.
The messenger’s expression grew more troubled. "W-We’ve lost all contact with her. Multiple attempts to reach her have failed—her phone isn’t responding to any calls." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"What?!" Emma’s mouth opened wide as her voice rose.
"Perhaps she’s taken refuge in the Second Sanctuary, that would explain why we are unable to communicate with her."
"Immediately dispatch a full search team to Zone D, specifically to the residence of the S-rank awakener Moon Outlaw. That’s where she’s been staying recently. I want that entire zone searched—do not leave a single area unchecked, do you understand me?!"
"This is Alaric’s sister we’re talking about. You cannot afford to make mistakes. Once he regains consciousness and learns something has happened to her..." Emma’s expression grew cold and dangerous. "Hell itself will break loose, and I won’t be able to protect...even you guys from his wrath."
The messenger nodded grimly, clearly understanding both the urgency and the catastrophic consequences of failure.
"I’ll deploy our fastest response team immediately. Full search and rescue protocols."
Emma watched him hurry away before returning her worried gaze to Alaric’s recovery room, torn between her duty to guard him and her desire to personally ensure Selene’s safety.
The attacks had created impossible choices, and she could only pray that Selene was well.
