Chapter 231: What just happened?

The moment Damon confirmed, the Blood Altar pulsed again, violently this time. The entire hall began to tremble from power.

[Ding! You have spent 50,000 Reputation Points.]

The altar started sloshing and gurgling violently as if a whirlpool was forming within it. The next second, a wave of blood energy spread outward in all directions, covering the entirety of the city.

All the vampire NPCs stared in shock as they saw a system screen flash in front of them.

[Ding! Morale surge triggered. All Dark Faction members are immune to fear effects for the duration.]

Gasps echoed across the chamber as one after another notifications started chiming in nonstop. The NPCs who had been groaning from their wounds stood straighter. The ones who had collapsed now rose, their eyes glowing a deep, primal red.

Muscles bulged, shadows clung to their figures like living things, and veins pulsed with new energy beneath death-pale skin. Even the weakest of the NPCs looked ready to tear through metal with their bare hands.

Outside the Blood Hall, across the ruined streets of Niera City, the change was instantaneous. The holy faction players who had been confidently advancing through the streets suddenly found themselves overwhelmed by vampiric NPCs who were moving faster, hitting harder, and fighting like berserkers.

Holy shields shattered. Formation lines crumbled. The purification raid that had once seemed like a sure victory now began to fracture.

And it was not just the NPCs, the dozen vampire players also received the same notifications, making them absolutely dumbfounded. They couldn’t even imagine how someone could have gathered so many reputation points to activate something monstrous like this.

They were all waiting for the quick loss of the blood hall, after which they would be heavily compensated and could even maybe settle for life, but now it looked like the battle was no longer close to ending any time soon.

Despite the rush of power within their bodies, they could only feel shitty as they watched the leaderboard change yet again.

Blood God

At this point, someone from the group hesitantly spoke up. "Guys, Lucien is already dead and is waiting for respawn. Before he comes back, should we go out and get a couple of kills? I mean, it looks like everything is changing, and Blood Hall might win the siege. Shouldn’t we at least try to get some rewards from this side? I really don’t want to return empty-handed."

There was a long, uneasy silence among the vampire players. What had once seemed like a hopeless, suicidal battle was now surging with overwhelming momentum. All of them could see this.

"Do you guys think Blood God might actually somehow win this whole damn thing?"

"These buffs are ridiculous."

The vampire who said he would eat shit earlier especially started sweating. He swallowed anxiously as he looked outside at the mayhem all around them. Then suddenly, a figure landed in the middle of this mayhem with a loud and powerful thud, instantly sending out a ripple of shockwave from his mere presence.

"Blood God... left to fight..." The guy weakly spoke as everyone turned their heads to the window to take a look at what was happening.

Outside the Blood Hall, amidst the collapsing formations and fleeing holy players, the crater left by Damon’s landing still hissed with residual blood mana. He stood in the center of the crater, his cloak fluttering like torn wings in the wind, eyes glowing with primal crimson.

His presence was no longer just intimidating. It was predatory. The kind of presence that made even the most devout paladin falter in prayer.

The moment he landed, blood lances appeared all around, at least a dozen in number. These lances shot forward in different directions, instantly impaling a dozen holy players.

The blood essence from these players rose up in crimson tendrils as they shot towards Damon with a hunger of their own, spiraling into his body like rivers being called home.

Damon didn’t even flinch as the energy surged into him. On the contrary, his expression twisted into one of serene satisfaction.

Notifications continued to roll in one after the other, which Damon quickly turned off. There was a lot of blood to be claimed, so there was no need to check these just yet. "Holy blood is always the best." He licked his lips as a devilish look appeared on his face. His aura was filled with blood lust and greed, and he did not hold himself back at all, charging into the fray at full speed.

It was time to start the slaughter and rack up the number of kills, notoriety points, blood units, stat points, and skills, all in one fell swoop. Not to mention the glorious item drops that came from NPCs. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

War was the best time to profit after all!

There was nothing like a good old war to fill up the coffers and drink up the power boost that he oh so needed at the moment. He still did not know who exactly orchestrated this whole damn thing but by the end of it, he would be ready to pay back everything a hundred fold.
