Chapter 722: Unfair

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Damon was not pleased. While he was forced to waste his time on these idiots, the other guy was coolly taking off and jogging at a leisurely pace towards the top. This was complete bullshit!

All the preparations he could do was try to grab more territories. But the other party had made certain other preparations. How was the guy casually jogging in this kind of pressure?

With the pressure mounting on him and his mental exhaustion building up, Damon was this close to losing it. At this point, was there even any meaning in his aiming for something? He might as well give up and leave right now. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Damon’s eyes widened, and he calmed down. He was getting affected by the pressure all around him more than he thought. He closed his eyes and reached out for his blood thrall.

He had his doubts about whether this would work or not, considering that he was not able to talk to Blood Reign or even summon his pets. But it did. Maybe because it was his own skill. The woman was just a few feet away from him on a different side of the mountain slope.

It would be a waste of his time to go there, but if he could get his hands on this shortcut, the others are so clearly suing, it would all be worth it.

When he was close enough, Damon sent a command to Viola to meet him halfway and explain what was going on. Bingo! He had been right on the money. It was a damned potion!

A potion commonly used by many in these kinds of trials. It temporarily gave them a defensive layer to withstand pressure, murderous aura, and killing intent.

Thanks to Viola running to him as fast as she could, Damon ended up saving a lot of time, and he also received the potion without many prying eyes. He then downed the potion and started climbing upwards, giving Viola the command to deal with anyone who chased after him.

Damon had used his actual face this time, as his mask did not work in the trial, and with this, he doubted if his control over Viola would last much longer. So he simply went all out and took the full advantage of the situation.

Still continuing to absorb blood essence from all over, Damon started his climb again. This time, he was running.

Damon had a big smile plastered on his face as he felt simply incredible at the moment. Having all of that pressure lifted off his shoulders, all in an instant, made him feel as if he was floating in heaven right now.

His muscles and his bones were singing in joy. His body wept tears of joy. His speed jumped instantly.

Damon almost laughed out loud as he shot up the slope. The crushing pressure that had been trying to grind him into paste was still there, but it felt... distant. Like someone had turned the weight dial down by several notches.

"So that’s how you’re doing it," he muttered, eyes burning.

With the potion active, the mountain felt completely different. His legs moved freely. His breathing evened out. The timer in the corner of his vision slowed to a crawl, ticking forward like it finally made sense again.

This was the advantage. No wonder those idiots were jogging.

Damon leaned forward and pushed harder. Wind rushed past his ears as the golden doors flew by one after another. He didn’t even look at the lower ones anymore. His target had shifted higher. Much higher.

Behind him, chaos erupted. Viola didn’t disappoint. Screams echoed as blood essence continued to flow into him. Now that he had experienced it, he was able to sense the special strands even without the insane pressure and the resulting mental clarity, but when he tried to isolate them, the result was still the same.

More and more failures, again and again.

"Fuck it. I am opening a damned door first." Damon shook it off and continued to run at top speed. He could sense multiple figures all around the mountain slope, all shooting upwards at the same speed. "Motherfuckers." Damon gritted his teeth. "Cheaters all around me!"

Coincidentally, he met yet another familiar face next. It was none other than the famous fire mage, Magicaa. Just as Damon’s gaze fell on the guy, the other guy also noticed him. But there was no smile on his face like the orange head. Instead, the poor guy looked constipated as his face twisted into an ugly expression.

Damon grinned. "You still haven’t forgotten our last meeting, huh?"

Magicaa started stammering. "How are you.... You should not... I was promised..."

"Heh." Damon chuckled. "What? I shouldn’t have the special cheat that you all seem to have? Say, how many men do you guys have here? What the fuck? How could so many golden tokens appear in the game? Don’t you think that this is unfair?"

Magicaa’s face paled. "Unfair... unfair... unfair..." He kept repeating the same word, fear and dread filling his eyes.

"Say, how about you give me some more of the potions? There is no need for us to fight here, is there? I mean, we are old friends, after all."

Viola had only five potions, and just to be on the safe side, Damon wanted to see if he could extort some potions from this guy. Nothing dropped if he killed him, so unless the guy handed the potions to him personally, he was not going to get any.

But something told Damon that he would get some.

In fact, the guy in front of him was the perfect candidate for a second Blood Thrall. How could he let go of such a wonderful opportunity?

Damon activated his mental corruption skill, followed by his blood enslaving skill. It did not even take a second before a notification flashed in front of him.

[Ding! You have successfully created a Blood Thrall]
