SSS Class Awakening: Start With A God-Level Choice System-Chapter 154: Schemes
Although Ainsworth had decided to slaughter Caspian and his family, he could still distinguish right from wrong. He knew that Caspian and the assassin team Caspian had sent weren’t the ones responsible for his sister’s disappearance.
However, it was undeniable that they offended him at the wrong time. It would have been fine if Caspian hadn’t hired an assassin team to kill him, but he even had the audacity to let the assassin team intrude into his house.
Ainsworth knew that if he were a weak Awakener, he would have long died, and it was all due to the pettiness and arrogance of Caspian. Even if he could easily kill an assassin team composed of one S-rank Awakener and ten A-rank Awakeners, not all Awakeners could, especially with just one Otherworld Mission completed.
Because of that, Ainsworth’s gaze had become resolute as he took a glance in a certain direction where the Sterling family’s companies and ancestral lands were located.
Since Caspian’s death was already a given and no one could stop him, especially with the current power he possessed, he no longer paid attention to such a dead man, and instead, he recalled his last encounter with Kyla.
’Kyla’s clone had already decided to leave long ago since I returned to Earth after my Otherworld Mission. Speaking of which, the last time I saw her aside from this departure was when I had just recently awakened my Awakener class.’
’At that time, I was only an Awakener without any rank, so it was unsurprising for me not to notice anything amiss with Kyla. If I’m not mistaken, the older sister I’ve spent time with has always been her clone. Or at least, that has been that way since I transmigrated into this world.’
’I’m not certain if the Kyla that the previous Ainsworth had spent time with before my transmigration is Kyla’s real body or a clone. However, it doesn’t matter much as I already knew Kyla’s intention for staying in this world. It was only when I had sufficient power to protect myself and see through her that she left, so her intentions were quite obvious.’
Recalling the time he had spent with Kyla since he transmigrated into this world, he was certain of one thing: Kyla’s clone was indeed his sister.
No wonder Kyla had denied him when he claimed that she wasn’t his sister. After all, the "sister" he was referring to at that time was the one he spent time with, the one who baked him a mango cake to celebrate his 16th birthday. She was the one who made him breakfast, albeit of poor quality, which even prompted him to teach her how to cook.
For him at that time, he wasn’t strong enough to discern that her consciousness was not the real Kyla’s. Even so, the time he had spent with her had truly proven that she acted just as his sister would have if she were there.
But to say that she was truly his sister wasn’t right as well, considering that Kyla’s main body was likely traveling the vast Otherworlds.
’What happened to my sister? It has always been a mystery to me that my family was alive and well in my past life, yet in this parallel world, they all died or mysteriously disappeared. Even the only sister I had left turned out to be a clone left behind by my sister’s real body.’
’Although with how Kyla’s clone acted no different from the original, she should have synchronized memories with the main body. It was only due to my past life’s memories being vivid enough, as well as my experience with Hive Minds, that I could see through Kyla’s status as a clone.’
’Otherwise, even if I had become an SSS-rank Awakener, it wouldn’t have been that easy to see through it, especially if she chose to hide it. But since she didn’t and even chose to discard her clone, Kyla’s clone should have already served the purpose the main body had with her when she left her on Earth.’
As he pondered more about it, he couldn’t help but feel that he was entangled in a scheme, and it was even his sister who schemed against him.
He hadn’t forgotten that she had emphasized that what he had believed to be true would be false.
When he contemplated it, he couldn’t help but guess, ’If I’m not mistaken, Kyla shouldn’t have been just an S-rank Awakener. I now doubt if her eyes were truly gouged out and stolen by the Mysterious Eye Organization.’
’If she was lying about that as well, then she hadn’t erased her memories regarding the Mysterious Eye Organization and is likely in a deep-seated grudge with them. Or, there’s also a possibility that not only was her Divine Eyes of Death Perception not stolen, she even likely became a member of the Mysterious Eye Organization.’
’No matter which one it is, it’s undeniable that if I want to find my sister, I can only find clues from the Mysterious Eye Organization, so my goal of targeting them doesn’t change much.’
’But if her eyes weren’t stolen, then what’s her true purpose of lying about it? Is it to motivate me so that I can have a goal to pursue?’
As a World Master and an SSS-rank Awakener, Ainsworth knew a lot about "World Lines" and "Children of Destinies".
If he wasn’t mistaken, the reason Earth was favored by the Universe Will and the Multiverse Will, so much so that even lawful-alignment Otherworld Factions secretly supported it and deterred chaos-alignment factions like the Main God Space and Abyss Paradise, was because Earth’s World Lines had given birth to countless protagonists.
Those with Luck stat attribute at S-grade and above were existences comparable to protagonists in the Otherworlds. Yet, Earth alone had a lot of them, which was why even with just 30 years of development, the Earth already had SSS-rank Awakeners.
Not only could Earth give birth to many protagonists, it could even accommodate them to the extent that such a phenomenon became the norm. For example, existences like Elyndra, Mira, Nyx, Aria, Dante, and others could easily have been the sole protagonist of a given Otherworld.
Recalling information about those world lines and protagonists, he seemed to have guessed Kyla’s intentions of feigning the loss of her eyes and directing his hatred towards the Mysterious Eye Organization.
’In the novels I read in my past life, it’s not unusual for such a plot to occur. From a narrative perspective, the Mysterious Eye Organization is likely the first big goal I’ll strive for, and after that, there would be another one.’
’My family background, while not an orphan’s, is already comparable to a protagonist’s. After all, my parents died in a car accident, my younger brother got hit by a truck, my younger sister mysteriously disappeared, and even my only living sister had plans in store for me.’
’If nothing went wrong, my world line would have been awakening the A-rank Adventurer class, then getting ridiculed by the death-seeking young master Caspian. Fueled by the motivation to avenge my sister and retrieve her eyes, I’d then ask either the school or my two best friends for a Class Rank Upgrade Crystal to at least raise my class to SS-rank.’
’Due to my desire for revenge, I’d likely grit my teeth and do everything just to become stronger, to the point my relationship with Elyndra won’t progress due to being occupied with becoming stronger. In the end, I might eventually succeed, but then I’d realize I’m just a pawn in the grand scheme of things.’
Feeling frustrated about the original world line he would have experienced, Ainsworth contemplated, ’Even with my transmigration, that all would have happened, and my sister Kyla should have deduced that much into the future, which was why she conjured that tragic revenge backstory.’
’I’m at least certain that while she had schemed against me, it’s not out of malicious intent. Otherwise, she could have easily killed me with just her clone when I hadn’t even transmigrated yet.’
’However, even she hadn’t expected the original world line to fail to occur, for an anomaly had appeared, and that anomaly was none other than my system. No matter what, it was impossible for her to know about my system.’
’But because of the system’s assistance, it had caught her off-guard at my rapid progress, which forced her to abandon some of her plans and even her clone. After all, it’s truly unprecedented to reach S-rank in just the first Otherworld Mission and then SSS-rank just a few hours after returning to Earth.’
’The time it took me to achieve that is merely a year, but in my sister Kyla’s perspective, it’s only been a week.’
Realizing just how fast his progress was, Ainsworth didn’t let it get to him, as while he was fast, others were literally born as an X-rank True God at the start, so he heeded his sister’s advice to not remain conceited.
Knowing that all schemes could be broken with absolute power, Ainsworth no longer thought much about it but merely decided to confront his sister if he became powerful enough to deal with the Mysterious Eye Organization.
