SSS Class Awakening: Start With A God-Level Choice System-Chapter 156: Elyndra: I Want To Spar With You!
The Blood Puppets pulled Caspian’s parents closer, forcing them to kneel directly before their son.
"Caspian..." his mother whispered softly, tears streaking down her face.
His father struggled fiercely against the chains, veins bulging on his neck as he shouted, "Kill me if you must, but let my wife go!"
Ainsworth ignored them. Slowly, he raised his hand, condensing a kitchen knife out of aura. The weapon pulsed with his aura, its edge glinting like glass under dim light, reflecting the fear and despair on their faces.
"Observe," Ainsworth said coldly, "and remember this moment until the time I kill you."
With a single motion, he swung the blade. Megan Sterling’s head flew into the air, arcs of crimson spraying across the ground before it landed with a dull thud.
Blood Puppets picked the decapitated head reverently, placing it on a tall pike before Caspian’s very eyes.
His mother’s lifeless gaze stared down at him, her mouth still frozen in her final words.
Caspian’s body trembled violently as despair consumed him. His teeth clenched so hard they nearly shattered, his jade eyes bloodshot with rage and grief.
"AAAINNSWORTH!!!" His scream tore through the blood-soaked base, echoing louder than any plea that had come before.
But Ainsworth only turned his gaze away, indifferent to the hatred directed at him.
Although Caspian’s father, Joseph, didn’t scream, his eyes were as bloodshot as Caspian’s, glaring at Ainsworth.
"What did my son and the Sterling Family do to you to warrant this much hatred and retaliation?! Even if my family has wronged you, it’s impossible for all the Sterling Family to offend you!"
"And besides, do you really think the Awakener Association won’t hold you accountable for committing familicide and mass murder? Even if you are an SS-rank Awakener, you aren’t above the law!"
Joseph was merely a Three-Star S-rank Awakener, so he couldn’t see through Ainsworth’s power. Since he suddenly appeared here with his power sealed, he merely assumed that Ainsworth was an SS-rank Awakener who was even stronger than his father.
He dared not assume that Ainsworth was an SSS-rank Awakener since he was too young to be one. Moreover, the thirteen publicized SSS-rank Awakeners didn’t include Ainsworth, so Joseph dared not believe Ainsworth was one.
Hearing Joseph’s threat, Ainsworth jeered, "Heh! Even the Awakener Association can’t hold me accountable for this. S-rank and SS-rank Awakeners are permitted to kill their enemies, but I’m above them."
"What do you think this is?"
Forwarding his right hand, Ainsworth opened his right hand. A diamond badge appeared on top of his palm with a huge symbol of "SSS" at the center, with five golden stars surrounding it. Below those symbols was a name written as "Ainsworth Arthurford", signifying who the badge belonged to.
Seeing the badge revealed by Ainsworth, Joseph and Caspian’s faces turned pale as they almost spoke in unison, "Impossible!"
Joseph exclaimed in disbelief, "Why do you have a Five-Star SSS-rank Awakener badge?!"
Both Joseph and Caspian wanted to believe it was merely an illusion created by one of Ainsworth’s skills, but the Awakener badge could never be false.
As for why, each badges at S-rank and above were created by the Earth Will. Awakeners at S-rank and above had the privilege to summon their Awakener badge that was made by the Earth Will for them, in contrast to those created by the Awakener Association.
Each S-rank and above Awakener badge had one notable ability, which was that it could make others believe that it was indeed genuine. It could never be counterfeited or replicated, as replicas would be acted upon by the world rules and would be shown as "fake".
Because of that, no matter how Joseph and Caspian wanted to delude themselves that Ainsworth’s Five-Star SSS-rank Awakener badge was a counterfeit, they knew by instinct that what he was holding was indeed the authentic one.
Not bothering to answer Joseph’s rhetorical question, Ainsworth flipped and caught the kitchen knife in his hand multiple times, playing with it in boredom as he spoke, "To be honest, I had planned to show off my cooking skills by butchering your mother’s corpse and using it as an ingredient to feed you and your father."
Before Ainsworth could continue his words, Joseph already lost it as his face became red in anger, reprimanding Caspian, "Caspian, what the fuck did you do to him? Did you steal his wife? Did you exterminate his family?! Why else would he go to such extremes?!"
Gritting his teeth, Caspian could only confess, "I hired an assassin team to kill him! I- I didn’t know he was an SSS-rank Awakener!"
Ignoring the father and son’s bickering, Ainsworth checked his wrist, but he immediately remembered he didn’t wear a watch. Nevertheless, his Ultimate Freedom (SSS) granted him the freedom to do anything he wanted, so he could freely check his watchless wrist and know what the time was.
"Sigh, it’s getting late. Elyndra and her team should have already arrived half an hour ago. My time is precious and I can’t waste it on you wasteful lot."
Feeling that it’s too overkill to let Caspian and Joseph eat their mother/wife’s corpse, Ainsworth decided to leave and let the Blood Puppets deal with the aftermath, as he granted them artificial intelligence.
He gave the Blood Puppets a copy of his Five-Star SSS-rank Awakener badge so that they would be able to handle the aftermath well. Even if the Awakener Association wanted to investigate, they’d know that an SSS-rank Awakener called "Ainsworth Arthurford" was behind the Sterling Family’s massacre.
Since he had returned to Earth, he was too busy dealing with the Otherworld Invasion, counterinvasion of the Monster World and Demon World, his sister Kyla’s disappearance, and even now the massacre of Caspian’s family.
Wanting to take a break, Ainsworth left the Sterling Family’s base. In a single step, he disappeared and teleported to Edenbridge High.
...
At Edenbridge City, Ainsworth arrived at Edenbridge High School.
He noticed that the protective barrier of Edenbridge High was activated, and the school staff were protecting the students and evacuating civilians.
He wasn’t surprised, as while he had retained the Guardian’s Sanctuary to protect Edenbridge City, none of them knew who did it or how long it would last. So rather than relying on protection from an unknown source, the school staff took matters into their own hands, which he respected.
As soon as he returned to Edenbridge High, the students and school staff immediately recognized him.
"Wasn’t he looking for Elyndra?"
"Wait, wasn’t it Elyndra looking for him?"
"Ah, forget it! Let’s just inform him about what happened."
Due to Ainsworth’s superior senses as an SSS-rank Awakener, he could clearly hear the whispers of the students who saw him.
Under his control, he used God-Level Charm to change the affinity of his charm to that of an approachable big brother next door as he asked, "Bro, is it true that Elyndra is looking for me? Where is she?"
Hearing Ainsworth’s questions, they weren’t startled by it.
Even though they weren’t close with Ainsworth, the aura Ainsworth emanated made him seem approachable and friendly to them, so they reciprocated it, and one of them replied:
"We have seen Elyndra at the Mission Center. From what we last saw, she was with her teammates and even chatted with the principal."
"We didn’t know what they were talking about as we dared not eavesdrop any further, but we did hear that Elyndra was looking for you."
As an SSS-rank Grand Archivist, Ainsworth could determine that what they were saying was the truth, so he thanked them, gave them several thousand Awakener Points, and then headed to the Mission Center.
In a single step, he arrived at the Mission Center. When he did, he immediately saw Elyndra, Mira, Nyx, Aria, and Isolde waiting for him there.
He recognized Nyx, Aria, and Isolde despite them not having many interactions due to them awakening SSS-rank classes during the Unified Awakening Ceremony.
He had already deactivated the effects of his God-Level Charm and suppressed it so that it wouldn’t affect his interactions with Elyndra and her team. After all, XXX+ grade charm would make him even more handsome than a God of Beauty, and he disdained relying on it to captivate Elyndra.
At most, he made his charm stat the same grade as Elyndra’s, which was around SS+ grade.
As soon as Elyndra saw Ainsworth, she immediately released her Ruler’s Aura (SSS) at full power, focusing it on suppressing him!
Ainsworth felt the existence of Elyndra’s Ruler’s Aura, yet he never felt the suppression. His freedom prevented him from being suppressed and oppressed by her tyrannical might.
Seeing that Ainsworth acted as if her Ruler’s Aura didn’t exist, Elyndra wasn’t surprised, as she had already guessed possible class traits and abilities that Ainsworth’s SSS-rank Freedom Freelancer would have.
Elyndra smirked confidently, "As I have expected! Your main class is truly the counter of my Tyrannical Ruler class!"
Unsheathing her sword, Elyndra tightly gripped the hilt of Regal Severance in her right hand, pointing it towards Ainsworth as she declared firmly, "Regardless, I want to spar with you, Ainsworth!"
