SSS Evolution: Upgrading My Trash Grade Skeleton to Godhood-Chapter 52: Body Refining Rank 3
One of the few things in life that brought true peace to the soul was a happy meal cooked by yourself. Lukas was no cook, but still he knew the basics.
However, because of his indeed rare traits, he never grew tired, never felt hungry, so he had never paid any attention to food all this time.
So without wasting any time, he started preparing the meat, taking out thick tender pieces of Comet Fang Wolf. After the last wave, the Comet Fang Wolves had flooded the market.
"You are cooking in this room? Do you even know how to cook?"
Ambrose said with a surprised look in her eyes, her rosy red lips widened in a large O shape. However, no one could witness this alluring sight—even though both of them had struck a deal, Ambrose had still not taken off her mask.
An indifferent smile was on Lukas’s face as he simply said, "Just a bit...!"
With a calm look, he took out the kitchen knife and started separating the wolf meat. Like a knife through butter, the knife easily sliced through the meat without faltering in the slightest. It was surprising, considering the meat belonged to a First Sequence epic grade monster.
It was pure muscle with a comfortable absence of fat. Just imagining the heavenly taste, Lukas almost salivated.
The seasoning was simple yet effective. Coarse pink salt crystals imported from Earth, fresh clove leaves formed the coating, enhanced carefully by the star energy-infused herbs picked from the inner tree forest. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
When the seasoned meat hit the hot surface of the cast iron pan, a satisfying sizzle shot through the room. The aroma that followed was rare and enticing. Ambrose, who had been looking intently, suddenly swallowed her saliva.
To be completely honest, it had been days since she had anything worthwhile. She had been surviving on the bland food offered by the Whitewood Inn all this time.
Lukas watched the meat intently, controlling the flame. He didn’t want to overcook the meat, yet he allowed a few spots to overcook for a slightly crunchy flavour.
Once the meat was prepared, he put it in a glass covered box while moving his hand to prepare the sauce. Taking out the stone crusher he had already purchased beforehand, Lukas took a few pieces of meat and crushed them into a thin paste while adding a few seven-spotted berries and mint leaves. Still, the paste was slightly thick, so to water it down he added a taste-enhancing potion.
With the final few additions, the sauce was perfectly prepared. It was time to dive in.
Ambrose’s face was red as a tomato, but she couldn’t bring herself to ask.
Lukas noticed her looking at the freshly prepared tender meat greedily and pointed two fingers in her direction. "200 star crystals."
Caught off guard, she let out a surprised yelp and nodded without hesitation.
Forget about 200—if Lukas had asked for even 400, she would have agreed without hesitation.
Lukas shook his head inwardly when he saw her readily agree, thinking he should have asked for more.
But well, there was no point in regret.
With a measured smile on his face, he gave one generous serving to her, then plated one for himself.
Ambrose slid the mask just enough to allow her to take a small bite. Immediately, the tender juices sealed within the slightly hard, crunchy exterior exploded in a cool and satisfying medley.
Lukas paid no attention to her and devoured his own portion in several pieces. Eating elegantly be damned—after all, he had a full twenty kilograms to eat. If he ate like her, it might take several years just to finish the entire thing.
With that thought in mind, Lukas’s hands moved like a machine, cooking and eating at the same time.
Thankfully he enjoyed cooking, otherwise he didn’t even want to imagine the headache.
So in just one hour, the entire twenty kilograms of meat was gone. Ambrose, who had just finished eating her portion, looked at Lukas with naked shock in her eyes. Then a strange look appeared in her eyes as if saying where is mine?
It might come off as surprising, but she wasn’t satisfied with just one portion. She wanted more, but Lukas hadn’t even bothered asking.
It was surprising she was willing to eat more star monster meat, as most awakeners avoided the meat because of several complications and toxin accumulation. Ambrose didn’t seem to be worried about it at all, neither did she express those concerns.
Meanwhile, Lukas paid no attention to her. Sitting in one corner of the room with his legs crossed and eyes closed, he started to use the Star Eater Body Refining Method. Star energy moved from the void, slowly circulating through his body before converging into the stomach. As the energy reached it, something miraculous happened. The large pieces of meat that were bloating his stomach immediately turned into pure nutrients in their most basic form to be assimilated by the body directly. He watched in awe as the cells divided rapidly, muscles rewrote and reformed, thicker than before. Lukas’s strength was rising in real time.
The coppery glow emitted out of his body solidified with each moment. Just then—
Bang!
A loud explosion echoed in his head. Whatever the bottleneck that had been blocking his path to Body Refining Rank 2 shattered.
With just twenty kilograms of meat, his strength had risen by more than eighty kilograms, reaching the two hundred kilogram threshold.
Lukas was now a body refiner standing at the second rank, with each of his casual attacks carrying two hundred kilograms of force.
On paper such an increase might look drastic, but this raw power was nothing against star monsters. Some of them had skin as thick as steel, so two hundred kilograms might not even be able to tickle their skin.
Still, progress was progress.
However, Lukas didn’t celebrate. Instead, he focused on something different. As the star energy circulated through his body, he noticed tiny dark particles scattering throughout, mixing with the blood, traveling all the way to the heart.
So these are the impurities.
While it might appear as if all the star monster meat had transformed into nutrients, the reality was different. Only ninety percent had turned into nourishment, while the remaining ten percent had turned into impurities. In the end, no matter how impressive it was, Star Eater Body Refining Method was only a rare grade skill.
Maybe if I can upgrade the technique, the impurities might lessen, or in the best case disappear completely.
