Chapter 133: NYX!

His SS-Grade familiar, Level 20, was capable of taking down a 2x opponent instantly.

That was a known quantity now. Daniel stood calmly in the blank, white virtual space, a faint, satisfied smile on his face as he recalled the triumphant Nyx into his storage ring.

The test was straightforward, the opponent merely a simulation, but the data proved invaluable. He now had a clear baseline for his strongest companion’s abilities.

Outside, in the vast plaza of Astralis Academy, the atmosphere was anything but calm.

The holographic screens, which had just displayed the shockingly brief fifty-seven-second defeat of the 2x strength Sango, flickered and then reset, bathing the stunned faces of the assembled aspirants in a neutral white light.

"Impossible..." Travis Standen, the scarred Vice-Principal of the Combat Techniques School, breathed out, his usual booming voice reduced to a gravelly whisper.

"That wolf... its power output is nonsensical. It’s tearing through Sango’s calibrated strength levels like they’re made of wet paper.

What the hell did he feed that damn thing?"

Director Gareth’s face was a grim mask.

The test, designed to be a marathon of endurance, had become a series of quick, intense bursts.

The objective was no longer to measure how long Daniel could last, but to find the absolute peak of the power he commanded.

"Raise it again," Director Sterling commanded, his voice sharp, cutting through the murmurs of the crowd.

His earlier confusion had given way to focused, relentless

"Three times the strength of a standard Level 12 Awakened! Don’t wait for the ten-minute cooldown protocol, override it! I want to see its limit!"

The technicians near the dais scrambled, their faces pale with sweat. "B-but Director, the energy draw is already causing fluctuations in the secondary grid! Pushing it to 3x strength so soon..."

"Do it!" Sterling snapped, his gaze fixed on the test pod.

"Boom!"

The pod containing Daniel hummed ominously, the air around it crackling with a new level of contained energy.

The ground beneath it seemed to tremble faintly. Inside, the blank white world reformed.

Sango materialized once more, but this time it was different. It was larger, its smooth form looking denser, heavier.

The light from its spear was no longer soft, but sharp and piercing, and the very air around it felt heavy, charged with a formidable, oppressive power.

Daniel felt the shift instantly. This 3x Sango was a significant leap. It felt less like a virtual construct and more like a genuine, high-level threat.

He could feel Nyx stirring in his storage ring, her battle spirit still burning, eager for another round.

He sent a calming thought through their familiar bond. Easy, girl. Let’s see this one up close first.

He had seen Nyx’s raw power, but he also sensed her struggle against the 2x opponent.

The regeneration had been faster, the fight just a little longer. Against a 3x opponent, an instant kill was no longer guaranteed.

It would be a brutal, drawn-out fight, one that would test the very limits of Nyx’s newly awakened draconic bloodline.

It was a perfect, if dangerous, opportunity.

"Alright, Nyx," he projected, his own resolve hardening. "One more round. But this one... this one will be a real fight. Don’t hold back. Show me what that Leviathan’s soul truly gave you."

With a flash of swirling shadow, ice, and fire, the colossal, two-headed form of the SS-Grade Ice and Fire Draconic Wolf appeared once more.

She let out a dual-toned roar, a challenge that shook the virtual space. Sango responded by lowering its spear, its stance becoming more solid, more menacing.

Nyx charged.

"BOOM!"

The ground shattered under her powerful paws.

The wind shrieked as she closed the distance, her two heads unleashing a coordinated storm of elemental fury.

Blue soulfire and searing white frostfire converged on the 3x Sango, creating a vortex of destructive energy.

The initial impact was immense, but Sango, its defenses now significantly amplified, weathered the storm.

Its form shuddered violently, but it held, its regeneration kicking in almost instantly, knitting together the virtual damage.

With a movement that was surprisingly fast for its new bulk, Sango counter-attacked.

Its spear shot forward, a blur of white light aimed directly at Nyx’s chest.

Nyx, in her battle fury, tried to dodge but was a fraction too slow.

The spear slammed into her shoulder, not piercing her Leviathan-scale hide, but the sheer force sent her stumbling back, a pained yelp escaping her fiery maw.

The battle devolved into a brutal stalemate.

Nyx would unleash her elemental hell, scarring and damaging Sango, only for the construct to regenerate moments later.

Sango, in turn, would land heavy, powerful blows that Nyx’s impressive vitality could endure, but they were clearly taking a toll.

Nyx was getting frustrated, her attacks becoming more ferocious but less focused. She was losing the war of attrition. novelbuddy-cσ๓

Daniel watched, his mind calm and analytical. He felt the strain on Nyx through their bond, her frustration, her growing exhaustion.

He considered recalling her. She had proven her might.

But then, he felt something else from her: a surge of defiance, a desperate, unyielding will to win.

No! Not yet! the feeling came, sharp and clear. I can do this!

A deep, guttural roar, more ancient and powerful than any she had made before, erupted from Nyx’s core.

The air in the pod crackled with a new, draconic energy.

On her two massive heads, just above her glowing eyes, two small, sharp points began to emerge from her skull, glistening like polished obsidian.

Small, but undeniably draconic horns!

The Leviathan’s essence, pushed to its absolute limit, was forcing a true evolution, awakening her latent bloodline!

"BOOM! KRA-KOW!"

A shockwave of pure, untamed draconic power exploded from her.

She opened both her mouths, and this time, it wasn’t just fire and ice that came out.

It was a single, focused beam of swirling energy, a powerful blend of soulfire, frostfire, and raw draconic force.

She had instinctively unleashed a devastating new attack.

The beam slammed into the 3x Sango. There was no resistance, no flicker of regeneration.

The virtual construct was simply... erased. Utterly, completely, and instantly.

The virtual space fell silent once more. Outside, the Vice-Principals were on their feet, their mouths agape.

"Did you see that? Horns! It grew horns!" Travis Standen bellowed. "A true draconic awakening! In a recruit’s familiar!

This is history!"
