"The queen has summoned me?" She was called from her chambers abruptly. Her morning routine had been disrupted, her hair still wet as the towel clung to her body. Her eyes were slightly enlarged as one of her sisters had delivered the news. She had a bad feeling about it and as she got dressed, her mind raced the events of the days before to see if she had done anything to anger Reina.
Upon reaching her throne room, Reina was staring out of a large window, the sun had just risen and was shining its golden light on everything underneath it. Including Reina.
"My queen." Rami bowed, her hair still wet but now in proper clothes and her gauntlets, her heart shifted wearily to the person she was submissive to.
"You have not done well Rami." Reina started without any filter, and she was taken aback.
"What have I done to displease you?" She leaned forward eagerly, so she did something wrong and doesnt even remember it? She sure was cooked.
"You sent the young ones to hunt, knowing very well it shouldn’t be." Reina’s feet shifted from the window to her throne and for a minute, Rami was frozen. Yes she had sent the younger ones to do the daily hunt but what was so bad in that?
"Yes I have, is there—"
"Yes there is. They are inexperienced, and have no clue on how to hide their tracks. Do not do it again, understood?" Reina did not spare her a glance and feelings of inadequacy began to wash up on her, she took her leave and went back to her quarters in which she stayed in it till the afternoon sun. Her feelings had soon morphed to anger and she didn’t get it. She didn’t get why she was angry with her, and she didn’t get why Ren didn’t pay any attention to her.
"I need to get out of my head." she muttered to herself and stepped out of her quarters, there was nothing going on for her today, and usually she would train with the other soldiers, but someone was doing that. Today was the day she rested, but her feet found Ren’s room. His new quarters were not far from the queen’s but this time, she was determined to have what she believed she deserved.

She had poured some oils on her skin and her lips to make her appearance more pleasing to him and her choice of clothing was translucent. There was no way he would be able to say no to her. Three knocks on the door, and she heard him invite her in. opening the door, she was pleased to see her approach working.
Ren had stared longer than he wanted to and was finding it hard taking his eyes off her. He wondered if it was okay to roam the palace in such attire but soon quickly remembered that she was a high ranking official and couldn’t be challenged.
"My lord." her tone was gentler, sultry and he could see it. He coughed to get his attention back, nodding to her.
"The queen wishes to see me?" he thought Reina had called him, he hoped, but the mention of Reina made Rami’s face sullied with a frown.
"No, rather, I wish to spend some time with you before you go on your mission. I do not know much about you, who you were before you became a hero... your family..." her demeanour softened, putting Ren in a state of discomfort. The word family always brought the memory of his mum to him. His face drooped, and it was only then she knew she had hit a delicate spot, "I’m sorry."
"Nah it fine." he waved it off like it didn’t hurt, "I have a mum and a sister, since I awakened, I haven’t been able to go back to them. The empire wants me for whatever crappy reason they have. And I have always wanted to live a normal life." Ren grabbed a fresh Happi coat that was laid on the bed for him. His casuals now consisted of the coat as the top layer with nothing worn inside and some loose pants to help with mobility. He was given a short sword, a new dagger and a mask, "do you have a family?"
Rami froze for a hot minute, her eyes moving away from him, "not any more. They were lost to the corruption. I had a little brother, he wanted to be the strongest there was." a pained laugh was coughed from her throat, her claws almost sinking into her skin to prevent her from crying, "the queen has been my family since then. She treats me like a sister." She did, but Rami also wanted what belonged to her sister.
Her eyes roamed all around him, noticing how fine he was. It wasn’t just his appearance but his composure and his kindness that made her so drawn to him. She was going to make her move.
"I sympathize with you." Ren shot her a small smile before making sure his things were complete. His mission was simple; return the beasts to their former land and glory. He planned to do that before going on a wild adventure to save the other beast queens and bring an end to the corruption. Whatever it was.
Upon turning around, Rami was in his face, her eyes glistening with an affection he had suspected for a while now, it was creepy, "you are so kind." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

I could never have anything to myself, not even a partner." a scolding glare to her right-hand woman who refused to look her in the eyes, "I thought I could keep you, maybe next time I would rub poison on you." The last part was menacing, but Ren felt pretty bad, he had no idea how it happened and when she could see the distortion on his face, she laughed, "don’t beat yourself up, beasts like we have a natural allure. It is in our scent, even if you try to resist, you will fail."
