Chapter 180: Kill him

Aren had no intention of allowing this man to get away. He wanted to know what he was talking about, so immediately Aren chased after him, running as fast as his body allowed, reaching somewhere similar to the man, but Aren on his own was not fast enough to catch up. He gritted his teeth. He was not losing the man.

He summoned the millipede. The moment it came, Aren got on her back and raced after the man. The millipede moved way faster than Aren could have hoped, catching up to the man very quickly.

"Don’t freaking run from me!" Aren yelled. He jumped off the back of the millipede, eyes locked on the man as he came from above, knees first.

BAM!

The collision was thunderous. The man was sent into the ground extremely hard as those knees dug deep into his back. There were some cracking sounds from the man, and the ground caved in as well.

Aren jumped off the back of the man after delivering that fatal blow. He grabbed him by the hair and lifted him up, turning him to look at him, only for the man to attack with a punch. Aren blocked with one hand. The impact shook him to his core, but he was unharmed.

"It’s time you lose that freaking arm," Aren said. Tendrils shot from the ground and wrapped around the man, tightening until he could not move his body at all.

"Go away, you can’t stop us. He must awaken, he must." The man started speaking like a madman, flaring in anger and trying to escape. Aren took a step back and then used claw strike to attack the arm.

It dug deep inside, causing immediate pain, but the attack did not cut the hand clean through.

"Guess I have to do it multiple times," Aren said and got ready to keep attacking the hand. He unleashed multiple attacks, and finally the arm was brutally chopped off. The man was screaming in pain.

What Aren noticed after the arm was chopped off was that the blood was now completely black from that arm.

"What the hell is happening?" Aren muttered. Then suddenly, the arm jerked and then leaped into the air of its own power and lunged for Aren’s face.

"Oh hell no," Aren said, immediately attacking with multiple shadow blades, slashing into the arm and throwing it back.

It landed on the ground, squirming. A mouth formed on the arm and then spoke, "The master must awaken." It said, its long twisted tongue moving in a disgusting manner.

Aren had had enough of whatever this was at this point and decided to end this here. He instantly unleashed a heavy barrage of shadow blades. They slashed into the arm one after the other, butchering it.

The hand tried to get away, but Aren attacked too fast for it to see a way out, and not long after, all that was left was mangled flesh and the bracelet.

It lay there at the center of the blood, twitching. He went there and picked it up, taking a good look at it. "What exactly are you?" He muttered. The eye twitched again and looked at him, as if it wanted to try something else, but Aren used the claw of Wolf Guard to pierce into the eye of the bracelet.

It let out a horrendous screech. The bracelet instantly lost its shine and rusted before crumbling to dust.

"What was it talking about? Who is the master? What the hell is even going on?" Aren was very confused at this point. He took a deep breath. Whatever it was, it either ended here, or it would surely come back to hunt him. He knew his luck, but regardless, he was done here, he killed the man that was attached to the arm. What came next was to go make more people get eliminated.

[.....]

Inside her throne room, Elton sat down as if waiting for someone. She was quiet, even her breathing was controlled. After what seemed like a very long minute, a light shone in the throne room and a figure appeared.

It was a dashing young man, an angel similar to Elton, but he had an extra set of wings. His hair was slicked back beautifully, and his armor was pristine, gold and silver working together.

"Elton, my sister," he spoke in a calm tone, then looked around the throne room. "I love what you have done with the place," he said.

"Let’s not get into that shit now, brother. I know you came for a reason. Tell me and get out," she said.

"Harsh, but oh well," her brother responded, and then his eyes turned to slits. "The anomaly. You have repeatedly failed to kill him, and it has raised concerns. They want him dead before the next trial, before the gods start watching.

You have used many means, yet this anomaly has eluded you and grown stronger. What do you plan to do, or should this task be handed over to someone more proficient like me?" he asked.

Her face twisted in anger as she heard the last part, because in all reality, her brother was far better than her, and this had always been an issue in her life, considering she was slightly older than him.

"I’ll handle it," she said in anger, gritting her teeth.

"How exactly do you plan to do that?" He asked, raising a curious brow.

"An Avatar," she replied.

"An Avatar? You are already going to such lengths? Haha, I could have never expected the anomaly would be such an issue.

Well regardless, you have to kill him now. Whatever plans you have, enact them now and take down the anomaly. Remove him from the trials. That is the instruction I was to give you," he said.

She looked at him for a few seconds, then she finally spoke. "The anomaly has a ton of close ones he considers family. I’ll start there and break his spirit into nothing. That way I’ll be able to finish him off," she said.

"Oh, you have thought it through. Great. I’ll take my leave then, dear sister. Mum and dad miss you, so try to come home every once in a while," he said.

"Fuck off," she replied.

He let out a smile and vanished from there.
