SSS Ranked Shadow Monarch: Summoning Infinite Shadows-Chapter 242: Gate Guardians
When Casper opened his eyes again, he was floating inside an empty space, there were lights and strings of soul energy, but barely anything else.
And then he saw Aren, sitting on a chair that seemed to be the focal point of this entire place.
Casper immediately tried to attack, but then he realized that all of his power had vanished. He looked at Aren in rage, thinking that he just had to retarget Aren as his enemy and his strength would return, but even after doing that, nothing came.
"Feeling powerless?" Aren asked, a carefree smile on his face as he looked.
"What did you do?" Casper immediately demanded to know, but Aren simply smiled even more. He took a few seconds before he finally responded.
"I wasn’t even sure this would work, I’m glad it did. Welcome to my world. A place where every rule and every power is made by me." Aren said.
Casper looked around in disbelief, then shot Aren another cold look. "Is this your subspace?" he asked.
"Indeed it is," Aren replied.
"That shouldn’t be able to stop my power," Casper barked in anger. "Even if you have a subspace, it must still follow the rules of the world," Casper said.
Aren then let out a wide smile, his eyes turning to slits, a very demonic outlook forming on his face. "But that’s not what my subspace is," he stated. "It’s not just some pocket, but rather a different universe, separate from the one we came from," Aren explained. He slowly moved his hand and rested it on his palm. "Everything here works through me," he said.
Casper wanted to argue against this, he wanted to fight against it, but he could feel the fact that none of his power was working anymore. He couldn’t adapt to this new place, because this place didn’t give him the permission to.
"If you had a normal ability, then I’m sure you would have been able to fight against it somehow, a little maybe, but your ability only exists within the confines of the domain and our world," Aren explained what he deduced.
He slowly got up from the chair and then got closer to Casper. "Right now, you are alive because I willed it so, and if I did not, you would have died.
I want you to understand that right now, I could leave this place without you and allow you to die right here and right now, or you can promise to not stop me when we leave," Aren stated, giving Casper the final chance.
Casper looked at Aren and then let out a chuckle. "If you kill me, you would have aggravated one of the most powerful families, they’ll kill you for sure," Casper said.
"I understand that," Aren replied, "but you seem to have forgotten, your family will kill me either way. I have already gone against you and your family, they’ll come for me regardless," Aren said.
Casper smiled. "I’m sorry, but there is no way I’ll allow you in, my duty is to stop you," Casper said.
Aren looked at Casper, he took a sharp deep breath, and then spoke. "When I leave here, the natural course of action will take place and I’ll not be able to stop it at all, you’ll die," Aren stated, but Casper was unwilling.
Aren took a deep breath and then without any more hesitation, he left the space, leaving Casper inside there.
He appeared back where he had teleported from. He looked at the gates of the town, and then drew a deep breath. He might have just sentenced himself to death by killing Casper, but he had no other choice.
He walked toward the gates, whatever was inside, he was going to find out now.
The moment he stepped through that gate, the Gate Guardians moved, the beings that never ever moved suddenly shifted and their spears were thrust at Aren.
Luckily for Aren, shadow sense had been activated all along, he sensed the attack coming. His tendrils shot from the ground and wrapped around the spears, stopping the attack.
"I’ve had enough fighting at this point," he said, gripping the ancient devourer that was in his hands. The blade was still hungry for blood, and at this point, Aren was going to give it to it.
The Guardians tore their spears from the tendrils easily and then attacked immediately, but Aren was unfazed. He slashed with the devourer, it curled through the air, heading for one of the Guardians first.
The Guardian used its spear to block the attack.
BAM
The collision sent him skidding backwards.
"I’ll make sure I cut all of you down now," Aren roared in anger, as he retracted the sword and immediately attacked the second who also blocked. Both of them were pushed back, but unharmed.
Aren wasted no time. From the same wound as before, he poured more blood onto the devourer, causing the strength to grow even more, and then he attacked, suddenly leaping into the air like a rocket, his eyes scanning around for the best attack path, then he lunged.
His attack ripped through the air extremely fast. The Guardian parried it, but the head spun around and attacked from behind, biting into the armor hard and ripping a huge chunk of it away.
The second Guardian gripped his spear like a javelin, and then it erupted in extremely hot flames. He locked onto Aren in the air and hurled the spear extremely hard. It cut through the air like a bullet. Aren reacted, parrying the spear, but it made a turn midair and rushed down at Aren again.
Aren gritted his teeth and then swung again, hitting the spear down. It shot into the ground and an explosion followed.
The ground was cracked with a crater there. Aren landed on the ground, breathing a bit heavy.
The Guardians looked at him, and then they started walking towards him. Steam suddenly exploded out of their armor and their power rose exponentially in an instant.
