SSS Ranked Shadow Monarch: Summoning Infinite Shadows-Chapter 249: Spar
Aren looked at her for a few seconds, then he looked away, "I’m not interested," he said.
She frowned, "and why is that?" she asked, clearly displeased.
Aren responded, "I get nothing out of this, rather, I’ll be giving you information on what I am capable of, doing that would be dumb," Aren said.
She listened to him and her frown deepened, "so what do you want?" she asked. Kai let out a smile, one of victory.
"All I want is for you to answer one question of mine if I spar with you, no matter what it is," he stated.
Her face returned back to its cold disposition, she took a short breath, "fine, I’ll answer whatever question you ask, as long as it’s within what I’m allowed to talk about," she said.
"Hmmm, in that case, let me ask it now, so that you’ll know if it’s allowed or not," Aren said.
She studied his face first a bit, trying to find what he had planned, but she couldn’t get anything, so she nodded, allowing him to ask.
Aren wasted no time, he asked the question, "why is the Blade family special?"
The question was pretty unexpected, even Peter was stunned by it. Aren looked at her calmly after asking, waiting for her reply.
"What do you mean by that?" she asked.
"Well, I want to know what really makes the Blade family a very powerful family, is it the numbers, is it the abilities, there has to be something that you have that makes you stand above," Aren explained.
"I see," she replied, letting out a calm smile, "what makes us special is the fact that we can awaken divine abilities," she expressed with pride.
Aren listened to her, she should have known she would never utter the real truth, he looked at Peter and it seemed Peter believed that was it as well. But Aren knew better, he knew for sure that there was something else to them, but they didn’t want to say.
’Sigh, no point in any of this, they don’t plan on telling me at all,’ he thought and then propped himself up, "let’s have that spar," he said.
She nodded and led the way. Athena still clung to Aren even as they left, she didn’t want to leave his side now that he had showed up here.
June led them to a platform outside, a place dedicated for training in the open, they even had seats for those that wanted to watch.
June got into the square platform and walked to the other side, she looked at Aren and then signalled him to come on.
Aren looked at Athena, he gave her a nod and she finally let go, walking over to the seats along with Peter. Aren got onto the platform, standing directly opposite of June.
"I’d ask that you try and not hold back anything, you’ll need that to survive," June said plainly.
"Don’t worry about me," Aren said, he lifted one leg and slowly kicked the toes against the platform, then he looked up, eyes bright and a smile across his face.
"Let’s see what you have." The moment the words left his mouth, he launched at her, moving like a rocket through air, June’s eyes kept track with him, and when he was closest, she shifted into a battle stance.
Aren planted his foot into the ground, leaped into the air, spun around and sent a sweeping kick for her face.
She moved with grace, one hand already moving to grab the leg, but then Aren smirked, a tendril shot from the ground and wrapped around the arm.
She was stunned by this and had very little time to even react to it.
BAM
The kick slammed into her face, and she was immediately thrown back.
Aren landed on the ground, but something didn’t sit well.
"That kick, it didn’t feel like it hit her at all," he muttered and then looked up, and to his surprise, she was completely fine, not a single scratch on her face at all.
She looked at him, same eyes as before, "tricky I see." She then rushed forward herself, she moved immensely fast, covering the distance instantly, she attacked with a kick. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Aren leaned back and dodged that kick, but a force slashed into his face and drew blood, he was stunned, but he didn’t allow that to get to him, she was obviously capable of some terrifying damage.
Aren retreated quickly, allowing some distance between them to ensure that he could plan and fight properly.
"Seems you are used to battles going at your pace," she said, taking one step forward, she stretched her arms over her head as she walked. "From the way you attacked, you wanted to control the tempo, well I also fight in a way that forces the opponent’s choices, which means I control the tempo.
Now the real question is, me and you, who does it better?" she said and then fired ahead again, her speed climbing instantly.
’She wants to force me into her pace, I’ll have to drag her into mine’
He activated shadow sense and immediately picked her attack coming, rather than lean back and dodge, he leaned in, his hand extending as he blocked the attack while still pushing in.
Her eyes widened for a moment, as what Aren was doing was extremely risky. The arm that he used to block wasn’t properly set, which meant it was taking the full brunt of the attack from her, and that also meant that arm could break if he wasn’t careful.
Aren understood this, but he wasn’t some weak snowflake, he knew his body better than anyone and he knew that he could tank that attack.
He punched with his second hand, the fist slamming into her chest, but even then, it felt like he had not touched her and as she shot through the air, she flipped and landed on the platform with grace, but still without a single sign of wound or damage on her.
