Chapter 17: 17. World of Nethria (2)
Although she didn't expect him to grasp everything just yet because he was still young, Freya did not mind telling him about Nethria.
She already knew her boy was an inquisitive lad. One who was curious and hungry for knowledge in whatever form he could get it.
Freya sat on the chair and shifted the book to one side so that she could keep the bowl in her hand there.
She then carried Drax up and placed him on her thighs, lovingly brushing his hair as the boy's eyes peeked into the bowl on his table.
It was a bowl of cereal and milk, something he and Freya loved very much.
He tried to grab the spoon that was inside the bowl when Freya stopped him.
The Elf Queen kissed her teeth and shook her head as she looked at Drax.
Drax did not say anything, knowing what was going to happen.
He already knew that there was no way she would let him feed himself, not when she was around him.
Drax sighed.
As much as he liked the affection he was getting, he was tired of being treated like a child.
Well, he was a child in Freya's eyes but the Elf Queen did not know that the soul of her son was not really as small as she sees him.
"Open wide, Drax," she said as she took a spoonful of cereal.
She expressed what she wanted Drax to do by opening her mouth wide as well. "Ahhhh...!"
Drax reluctantly opened his mouth and she fed him.
Protesting was not going to do him any sort of good, so he played along until Freya was satisfied.
As Freya fed the half-elf, she began her explanation of Nethria.

"To tell you about the other three realms, I will have to start from the beginning," she said.
"Including some of the things you won't find in any literature because of how classified they are. There were not always four realms in Nethria. In the beginning, it was just one massive supercontinent and everybody lived there, with the only other place being Othrys."
Drax blinked several times as his ears perked up.
"The Land of the Gods?" the younger elf muttered.
Freya nodded her head before taking another scoop from the bowl of cereal.
"Yes. It was just Othrys, also called the Land of the Gods, and the supercontinent of Nethria then until the First Great War happened."
"The revolt against heaven," Drax added.
Freya smiled and pinched his cheek. "Someone has been reading a lot, I see."
Drax giggled sheepishly and Freya began to tickle him as she was impressed that he knew this much at his age.
"Yes, people also called it that but it was officially dubbed the First Great War. Its sole purpose was to end the tyranny of these so-called gods and the oppression they brought upon us.
"You see, sweetie. These gods weren't really good people and that was why multiple heads rose against their rule when enough was enough."
"And the gods were defeated after the war ended," Drax said.
"Yes. But the damage this war caused was on an unfathomable scale. They were defeated and the supercontinent crumbled into many pieces, which were enough to form subcontinents. The different races sorted out a portion of these pieces and made it their home."
"Like Avalonia?" the young elf asked.
Freya affirmed his question with a nod. "That's correct. Just like Avalonia."
Drax glanced at the encyclopaedia and then at his mother.
"So this newly divided Nethria was called the Living World. Here, seven races are dominant. One is us, the elves. Then we have the fairies, dwarves, giants, merfolks, beastkind and humans. There are other races anyway, but they are either affiliated to one of the big seven or living freely or living in seclusion since they are not as powerful as the rest.
"Aside from the Living World, we have three other important locations in Nethria. The Heavenly Realm, or the Celestial Realm, which took its roots from what remained of the ancient Othrys. The new gods reside there as well as members of the World Council, who oversee the affairs of Nethria.
"Then there is the Spirit Domain where Mama Alucard lives."
Drax furrowed his brows.
He barely knew anything about his dragon mother, Alucard. Thus, hearing this one thing sparked his curiosity.
"Isn't she a beastkind? Mother, I thought beastkind lived in the Living World with us."
"You're right. Alucard is a beastkind, but she doesn't live in the Living World. The dragon race was once beastkind until after the war. The Dragon Monarch decided that they did not wish to live in the Living World anymore, and together with every other dragon, they relocated to the Spirit Domain. Alucard comes here because she is my sworn spirit companion."
From everything he had heard so far, Drax concluded that the history of Nethria was indeed deeper than he imagined.
It was not something that Freya could finish narrating to him at a sitting and that was why she tried to summarise it and make it easier for him to also understand.
Regardless, Drax had questions... questions he needed answers to but he knew he couldn't get all the answers in one sitting.
"The Abyssal World is the realm of the undead, demons, nephilims and the likes. Eek!" Freya shrilled and shrivelled as she spoke about the Abyssal World, clearly crept about by the topic of discussion.
"I don't want to go there, Mother," Drax said, hugging his mother tightly.
Freya hugged him right back and they kept a close embrace. "Me too, sweetie! Me too."
The Elf Queen felt the chills as her hair rose erect at the thought of the Abyssal World.
However, she shook it off and just as she was about to continue, a knock came on the door.
"Enter," Freya answered.
The door opened and one of the maids came in.
She bowed in deference to her Elf Queen and Prince and while keeping her head low, she spoke.
"Lunch is ready, my Queen."
Drax groaned. This meant that the story would be abruptly cut short now and he was not happy.
"Did you hear that, dear? Let's go and eat."
