SSS Technology System: My Talent's Name Is NanoForge-Chapter 35: The First Division Of New Nexus
[Kruulith, have you found what we’re looking for?]
A voice spoke from the interface.
"Yes, I have. And it appears to in the possession of a human."
[A human? Dispose of him and retrieve the D.A.C]
"It’s not that simple, it seems to have already bonded with his genetic code."
[Bonded with his genetic code? A human? Absurd. Retrieve the D.A.C, no matter the cost, Agent Kruulith.]
The panel disappeared, leaving only the irritated smile on Sophia’s face. "Mason Harris huh? To think NanoForge would fall into the hands of a measly human."
..
New Nexus
The New Nexus stood tall, a structure of steel and glass that reached into the sky. Its shining walls looked clean and perfect, but hidden within were countless layers of security and secrets. Inside, wide halls and vast training rooms stretched on, each one built to push its students past the edge of their limits.
It was more than just a building. The New Nexus was a place where the strongest were shaped and sharpened. Those who stepped inside were not there to study—they were there to be molded into the world’s most dangerous agents.
"Hey there, diamonds in the rough." In the debriefing room, Shawn stepped forward, and four individuals lined up before him.
They were the first division agents of New Nexus, and wore uniforms of white and silver, sleek and close-fitting like a second skin. The design was light enough for silence and speed, yet strong enough to handle the weight of combat. Thin silver lines ran along the edges of the suit, giving it a sharp, clean look without making it stand out too much.
Every part of the uniform had a use: hidden layers for protection, boots built for balance and quick movement, and gloves shaped for both fighting and control. Together, it gave the agents a smooth, almost ghostlike presence, made to move unseen, yet strike with power when needed.
"Sorry for making you wait this long, but then again, to the new recruit, welcome to new Nexus. Like I told you all on the day you were brought here, this is where heroes are born, legacies are cemented and legends are created. Hopefully, we hope to do the same with you too." He began.
"But sir, diamonds in the rough? Isn’t that a reference from that sports anime... Erm the one about football?" One of the boys spoke.
’Aiden Nightshade, one of New Nexus’s elite agents in the first division. His compatibility with the Gene Matter Serum birthed an unbelievable ability within him.’
’He possesses the ability to control energy, no matter what kind it is, from kinetic to solar, to magnetic fields. If well trained he could become one of the Soviet Alliance’s most powerful assets, and also a counter for the heroes we already have at hand. But his personality is rather... Displeasing.’ Shawn thought, accessing one of the recruits in his mind.
"I think it’s Bluelock he was talking about." Another recruit spoke.
’Sasha Rivers, also one of New Nexus’s elite agents in the first division. Her compatibility with the Gene Matter Serum is almost on par with that of Aiden. She awakened the ability to transfigure molecular structure of any matter into a liquid state, in theory she can control water.’
’But it’s more complex than that, she didn’t just control water, she created it. We are yet to understand how it’s possible, but basically any unrelated matter is her weapon as far as the limits of her abilities are concerned. But she’s too carefree, I guess it’s natural given her abilities.’ He thought again, turning his sights to another recruit.
"You mean that anime that has Isagi Yoichinas it’s Main character? I love that show!"
Shawn turned his sights again to the third agent. In their discussions, he remained silent, observing and analyzing the abilities and personalities of the new recruits he brought in.
’Suki Freecs. The daughter of one of Titan’s industries biggest investors, generally they assumed submitting their daughter at birth for an experiment with the Gene Matter Serum would profit them. A cruel but wise decision, this city is run by the worst after all, it takes sacrifices to create a future for one self. After all that’s the Soviet Alliance’s goal, to rid the city of these corrupt bastards that rules it.’
’Much like her collegues, she awakened a fruitful talent, however this talent wasn’t one that was planned, but due to an accident thankfully it turned out well. The ability to manipulate solar energy and radiation, she can harness the full power of the sun. And once she does, you could say she can literally envelop herself with the sun. A frightening ability which could also mean the end of earth if not used carefully.’
Then he turned his attention to the last recruit who remained rather timid.
’Vanessa Reginald, the daughter of the head scientist in Nex Industries, and also the head scientist of Project V.E.X.A.M. She was an unplanned casualty, and it’s all because of that Shadow Vigilante, Night Hunter.’
’For a while the Gene Matter Serum lost it’s feasibility, and it became dangerously unpredictable to those who would have been compatible like Jackson. Because of that, we needed the stabilizing agent, namely the V-Core we found from that meteor.’
’We needed it in order to perfect the serum and launch the Nexus Academy project. But that foolish Vigilante intervened, and due to time limits we promised the Soviet, Dr Reginald had no choice but to submit his daughter to the experiment to create a last minute substitute.’ He sighed, slipping his hands into his pockets as the gravity of the situation fell on him.
’Normally the candidates we selected for this project were all trained since birth, nutured to control and master their awakened talents. But thanks to the Vigilante, this was an unplanned event. Not only did she had to leave behind her life, she also left behind her family. Now I’m sure more than ever, Dr Reginald wants nothing more than the head of this so called Night Hunter.’
"That’s enough chattering. I hope you all have had your rest?" He cleared his throat, ready to get down into the business of the day.
"Yes sir!" They all responded in sync.
Since the day they arrived here, they had been training nonstop, their bodies pushed to exhaustion and their minds sharpened past hesitation. Every dawn began with drills that left their muscles aching, and every night ended with lessons that tested their focus and control over their abilities.
It was an academy, failure was not scolded—it was corrected, broken down until there was no room left for weakness.
Day after day, the cycle continued, until time itself seemed to blur. Constant, piercing pain became routine, and progress came in silence.
It was all for one cause.
"Glad to hear that, because you’ve all been assigned your first mission."
"What!?"
"Really!?"
"Hmph. It’s about time." Aiden clenched his fist, he’d been stuck down here for as long as he could remember without properly doing anything. Finally, it was time for some action.
"Yes, a covet mission."
"Aww come on!" The two girls — Suki and Sasha, complained. They were as just as sick as Aiden at being stuck down here doing nothing but fighting stimulations, they wanted some action to.
"That’s right, even the top heroes started out like this. To become a hero is to access every situation and pick out the most viable option. But also, to become a hero isn’t just by saving lives and being praised for it, it’s about doing what’s right when it counts. You’re all just new recruits, there’s no need to be putting yourselves out there in danger until you’re ready."
He chuckled softly, here he was preaching righteous acts of heroes when he did the exact opposite.
’It’s all for the Soviet’s cause, right now sending this recruits into the open will alert that Vigilante. Telling him about the Gene Matter Serum was a mistake, instead of making him lose hope, he got motivated instead and showed off some cutting edge tech that not even a super mutant could handle.’
"Yes sir..." They all muttered under their breaths, they were a bit disappointed, but at the same time, orders were orders.
’Now that Night Hunter knows about the Gene Matter Serum and isn’t backing down, we have no choice but to eliminate him. Luckily, my contacts are already on that, and it doesn’t matter how powerful his tech is, no one can escape them.’
"Your mission is in the next two days. Dismissed." He dismissed them, and they mumbled on their way back to their quarters.
"Vanessa." He called Vanessa back.
"Yes sir?" She turned around, standing at attention.
"How’s your stay in New Nexus going so far? Are the agents giving you any trouble?"
"Umm, good I guess, no they aren’t. They are more welcoming than I expected." She was still upset at what he did the day before, seizing her only form of communication with Mason.
"Is that right? Well that’s good. Hope your ready for your first mission?"
"Yes sir."
"Alright. You can go."
As she left, he glanced at her, not missing a single detail.
"She’s a different story from the rest. She awakened a talent that allowed her to read minds, gives her access to psychic abilities, telekinesis. And to top it all, she has the ability to regenerate lost cells and tissues in not just her body, but others. A healing ability. She might be one of the greatest assets in New Nexus, maybe that’s why she got into the First Division even as a new recruit."
