SSS-Tier Extraction: From Outcast to Overgod!-Chapter 61: Gearing Up for War
Chapter 61: Gearing Up for War
The big, glowing screen in front of Ryan faded away, leaving him in the quiet hum of the god Weaver’s Core Chamber. The challenges from his rivals were locked in.
He had thirty minutes. Thirty minutes to get ready for a fight that would decide if he was a true leader or just a one-hit wonder.
"No pressure," Ryan muttered to the empty room. A small, nervous smile touched his lips. He had gone from a nobody in a pod to a Sector Governor in just a few weeks.
It felt like being promoted from the mailroom to CEO on the first day of the job. And now, the board of directors wanted to see if he could actually do the work.
He looked around the chamber and spotted the three treasure chests, his rewards from the last big fight. They were just sitting there, waiting for him. They were the Prime Control Cache, the Major Berserker Cache, and the Prime Sector Cache.
"Alright, time for presents," he said, rubbing his hands together. "Let’s see what’s in box number one."
He walked over to the Prime Control Cache. It was a sleek, silver box that seemed to absorb the light around it. It looked very advanced and a little bit mysterious. With a soft hiss, it opened.
Inside, nestled on a cushion of blue light, was a single gauntlet. It wasn’t just a glove; it looked like liquid metal mixed with starlight. This was the Tier 5 "Weaver’s Interface Gauntlet."
Ryan carefully picked it up. It was light but felt incredibly strong. As his fingers slipped inside, the gauntlet shimmered and molded perfectly to his hand and forearm. New information flowed directly into his mind.
[Weaver’s Interface Gauntlet]
Agility +25
Intellect +20
Skill: "System Override" - This would let him hack into and control other ancient Precursor technology. He could turn an enemy’s robot against them or shut down a trap before it went off. It was a master key for all the old tech in the world.
Skill: "Localized Reality Edit" - This was the really weird one. It gave him the power to make small, temporary changes to the world right around him. He could make a patch of weak ground solid for a few seconds or create a short wall of rock out of nowhere.
It was like being able to whisper a suggestion to reality, and for a moment, reality would listen.
"Whoa," Ryan breathed. He took off his old Phase Gauntlet, the one that gave him the short teleport "blink" ability, and gave it a fond pat.
"You were great, old friend. But this is a serious upgrade." He stored the old gauntlet away and flexed his fingers in the new one. He could feel a new kind of power tingling in his arm.
Next, he turned to the Major Berserker Cache. This box was the complete opposite of the first one. It was made of rough, dark iron with angry-looking red lines glowing on it.
It looked like it would bite you if you got too close. When it opened, it did so with a loud clank, revealing a weapon that was almost comically huge.
It was the Tier 4 "Axe of Unrelenting Fury." The axe head was bigger than Ryan’s chest, and the handle was thick and long. It pulsed with a feeling of pure rage.
[Axe of Unrelenting Fury]
Strength +40
Skill: "Sundering Blow" - This skill allowed the axe to ignore a quarter of an enemy’s armor, making it great for smashing tough targets.
Ryan looked at the axe. He looked down at his own lean body. He was fast and smart, not a muscle-bound giant. He tried to pick it up with one hand and almost dropped it.
He grunted, using both hands to lift the massive weapon. It felt incredibly heavy and clumsy in his hands.
"Yeah... nope," he said, carefully setting it back down. "This is not my style at all." He imagined trying to use his quick, precise fighting style while lugging this giant thing around. He’d probably trip over it.
He stored the axe away in his inventory. Maybe he could give it to Chris "Boulder" Magnus someday. Chris would probably love it.
Finally, he approached the last box, the Prime Sector Cache. This one felt important. It was a smooth, white cube that glowed with a calm, steady light of authority. It opened silently, splitting into eight smaller cubes that floated away to reveal the prize inside.
It was a perfect sphere, about the size of his palm, made of what looked like a polished black pearl with a galaxy swirling inside. This was the Tier 5 "Sector Command Orb."
[Sector Command Orb]
Function 1: Remote Monitoring - It would let him see what was happening in different parts of Sector Gamma by connecting him to the Weaver, like a personal security camera for the whole neighborhood.
Function 2: Vassal Communication - He could use it to send orders to any Outpost that became his vassal. It was a direct line to his new employees.
Function 3: Governor’s Shield - Once a day, he could activate the orb to create a powerful defensive shield around himself. It was a one-time emergency button for when things got really bad.
Ryan pocketed the orb. It felt cool and reassuring in his hand.
With all his new toys, he felt a surge of power. He pulled up his personal status screen to see how much had changed.
[Ryan Stone]
Level: 9 (Progress: 3450/5000 NP)
Title: High Governor
Strength: 103
Agility: 128
Vitality: 63
Intellect: 122
Spirit: 94
Threat Level: High Governor
His numbers were now incredibly high. He was stronger, faster, and smarter than ever before. But a leader couldn’t just be strong; he had to support his team.
With less than twenty minutes left on the clock, Ryan turned back to the Weaver’s control panel. He used his new Governor powers to send some help to his friends back in Outpost #7.
He found the menu for supplies and quickly sent over a special package for the four people he was bringing with him.
He ordered a supply of high-grade energy cells for their gear, some instant-use armor repair kits, and a batch of the best stamina-boosting rations the Outpost could make. It was a small thing, but it showed he was thinking of them.
With that done, he opened up a private chat channel to his chosen team.
Ryan: Scarlett, Emma, Jennifer, Chris. It’s time. New challenge against the Crimson Banner. I need you with me. Gear up. Meet at the Outpost center in five.
The replies came back almost instantly.
Scarlett "Red" Viper: Ready.
Emma "Sage" Thorne: Of course. I’m already running simulations on the Shattered Peaks terrain.
Jennifer "Quake" Lee: My senses are yours to command, Governor.
Chris "Boulder" Magnus: YES! Time to smash something for the good guys! I’m on my way!
Ryan smiled. He had a good team. A scout, a strategist, a sensor expert, and a big, friendly tank. Together, they had a real chance.
He used the Weaver to teleport himself back to Outpost #7’s central plaza, appearing in a quiet flash of blue light. His team was already there, their faces set with determination.
They looked at him with trust and a little bit of awe. He was their leader, the one who had taken them from scared newcomers to the rulers of the Sector.
The countdown on their god Interfaces hit its final minute.
"Alright, team," Ryan said, his voice calm and confident. "The goal is to control three locations. Tom Kane is smart and his team is disciplined.
We need to be smarter. We stick to the plan, we watch each other’s backs, and we show them why Outpost #7 runs this Sector now."
His friends nodded, their fists clenched. The final seconds ticked away.
[3... 2... 1...]
[TELEPORTING TO UNIFICATION CHALLENGE: THE SHATTERED PEAKS]
A brilliant white light enveloped them all. There was a strange feeling of being pulled through a long, tight tunnel, and then, just as quickly, the feeling was gone.
The light faded, and the five of them stood on a jagged piece of rock floating in an endless sky. The air was thin and crackled with raw power. All around them were other floating islands, some small, some huge, connected by crackling bridges of lightning.
Strange energy geysers erupted from below, shooting streams of green and purple light into the clouds. In the far distance, the shadow of a truly enormous flying creature passed over them, big enough to swallow their entire island whole.
The real fight was about to begin.
