Chapter 68: Sector Directive 001

The party in Outpost #7 eventually calmed down, but the feeling of victory lingered in the air like the smell of a good barbecue. News of what happened in the Shattered Peaks spread like wildfire through the newly connected Sector Gamma CommNet.

Ryan Stone wasn’t just the guy who won a contest anymore. He was the guy who beat an Apex monster by himself and then made the legendary Crimson Banner surrender without even landing the final blow.

His official title was still "Provisional Governor," but nobody called him that. In the chat rooms and private messages, a new name was catching on: Sector Lord Stone.

The Sector Gamma CommNet was a wild place.

Player_X9 (Iron Wolves, #21): So this Stone guy thinks he’s a big shot now? Wait until he meets a real fight.

Zara Khan (Circuit Breakers, #3): His tactical approach was... unexpected. But effective. The data is compelling.

Random Player (Outpost #5): Is anyone selling Sector Lord Stone action figures yet? I’d trade a Level 3 Anomaly Core for one. Does it come with a tiny, terrified Tom Kane accessory?

Ace Striker (Outpost #7): Such disrespect! The proper term is ’Our Great and Wise Sector Lord’! And any merchandise would have to be officially approved by his office! Which I will happily manage!

Ryan read the messages with a small smile. He was sitting alone in the quiet of the Labyrinth’s Core Chamber, the giant, sleeping Weaver machine humming softly around him.

Being a "Sector Lord" sounded a lot like being a landlord for a whole neighborhood of very strange and heavily armed people.

And his first job was to deal with his newest, unhappiest tenant: the Crimson Banner.

He pulled up the glowing Vassalage Contract. It gave him the right to issue orders to Outpost #12. He could be mean about it. He could order them to scrub the floors of Outpost #7 or make them sing songs about how great he was.

The thought was funny for a second, but it wasn’t smart. A humiliated enemy was a dangerous enemy. A useful enemy, on the other hand, could be a great asset.

He thought about the Crimson Banner’s strengths. They were disciplined, skilled, and brave. They weren’t afraid of a tough fight.

So, he would give them one. He began to type out his first official directive as Sector Lord.

[SECTOR DIRECTIVE 001]

[To: Crimson Banner, Outpost #12]

[From: Office of the Sector Lord]

[Subject: Deep Zone Reconnaissance]

[1. Your Outpost is hereby ordered to begin a series of scouting missions into the uncharted ’Deep god Zones’ at the edge of Sector Gamma.

2. Your primary mission is to map these dangerous areas, identify major threats, and locate any hidden Precursor Relic Sites.

3. You are to engage threats only when necessary. Your main goal is to gather information.

4. 80% of all unique resources and data you find will be kept by Outpost #12. The remaining 20% will be sent to the Sector Gamma central reserve for the benefit of all allied Outposts.

5. This mission will use your skills for the greater good of the Sector. Do it well.]

It was a clever order. It was tough and dangerous, which the Crimson Banner secretly enjoyed. It gave them a purpose. And most importantly, it sent them far away from everyone else while making them do something useful for the whole sector.

Tom Kane received the directive in his command center. He read it, then read it again. He had expected an order to do something shameful. Instead, he had been given a real, strategic mission. It was a hard job, but it was an honorable one.

"He’s not a fool," Kane muttered to himself. He stood up and addressed his soldiers. "We have our orders. Prepare the long-range scouting teams. We move out in one hour." The Crimson Banner, for the first time since their defeat, had a new sense of purpose. freeweɓnøvel~com

Next, Ryan turned his attention to the rest of the Sector. Many of the smaller, neutral Outposts were poor and struggling. They were constantly worried about being bullied by bigger groups like the Iron Wolves. He wanted to change that.

He used the Weaver to create a new system, something he called the "Sector Gamma Exchange." It was basically a super-safe online marketplace for all the Outposts.

Any Outpost could list items they wanted to trade, from monster parts to rare herbs. The Weaver would act as the middleman, making sure the trade was fair and that no one got cheated.

For every trade, the Weaver would take a tiny fee, a little bit of god energy that would go into the Sector’s bank. It was a win-win for everyone.

The neutral Outposts loved it.

Player_Neutral_Ben (Outpost #9): Wow! This is amazing! I can finally trade my Glow-Moss for a better knife without worrying about getting scammed! Thanks, Sector Lord!

Player_Trader_Sue (Outpost #6): A secure, automated market with a low transaction fee? This Sector Lord actually understands economics! This is the best day ever!

By making life better and safer for the smaller guys, Ryan was earning their loyalty without ever having to fire a single shot.

As his Influence grew, the god Warden began to treat him differently. It was still a cold, emotionless, but it now saw him as someone important. A new message appeared on his screen, this one for his eyes only.

[Influence Level 25 reached. Access to Sector-level information granted.]

[Upcoming Threat Assessment: A high-probability ’Sector-Wide Anomaly’ is detected forming in the outer voids. Projected arrival in 15 cycles. Threat class: Overwhelming. All Sector Outposts will need to cooperate to survive.]

[New Data Unlocked: Locations of three major ’Precursor Relic Sites’ within Sector Gamma have been partially decoded. These sites contain immense power but are protected by ancient and extremely dangerous security systems.]

Ryan read the message carefully. A giant monster was coming that would threaten everyone. And there were hidden treasure vaults scattered across the sector. It seemed like things were about to get a lot more interesting.

He still had the three Flex Essence Points he had earned for reaching Level 9. Looking at the new challenges ahead, he knew he needed to be smarter, not just stronger. He needed to understand the Weaver, lead his people, and out-think his enemies. He allocated the points.

[+2 points allocated to Intellect.]

[+1 point allocated to Spirit.]

His mind felt clearer, his thoughts sharper. He felt more connected to the Weaver’s systems, and his willpower felt like solid steel. He was becoming more of a king and less of a simple knight.

His level was still Level 9, but he was getting very close to the next milestone. Progress: 4450/5000 god Points. He was a powerhouse, one of the strongest individuals in this part of the god.

And people were starting to notice.

His fame had spread far and wide. Back in Outpost #7, there was now a constant line of people hoping to speak with him. Players from other Outposts would travel for days just to try and get a moment of his time, hoping to trade for a special item or ask for his help.

He was in the main hall of the Outpost, discussing patrol routes with Scarlett, when Ace Striker hurried over, looking very important.

"My Lord Stone!" Ace announced, puffing out his chest. "A representative from the neutral Outpost #14 is here to see you! He has waited for three hours and has brought a gift of some very shiny, but probably useless, rocks! Shall I send him away?"

Ryan sighed. He wasn’t used to having a self-appointed secretary. "No, Ace. It’s fine. Send him in."

A nervous-looking young man walked forward, bowing awkwardly. "S-Sector Lord Stone. It is an honor. My Outpost wishes to formally join your alliance. We don’t have much, but we are loyal. We just want to live in peace under your protection."

Ryan looked at the young man, then at the bustling, happy Outpost around him. He had fought for this. Not just for himself, but for them. For all the people who just wanted a chance to survive and build a new life.

"Welcome to the alliance," Ryan said with a warm smile. "We’re happy to have you."

He was a Sector Lord now. It was a heavy weight, but for the first time, he felt like he was exactly where he was supposed to be.
