SSS-Tier Extraction: From Outcast to Overgod!-Chapter 71: Future Puzzles
Chapter 71: Future Puzzles
Ryan stared down through the metal grate, his mind racing. The three Chrono-Golems stood like statues, silent and deadly. He knew from his "Lore Scanner" that a direct fight would be a disaster.
These weren’t the dumb, lumbering robots the Iron Wolves were smashing. These were special. They could mess with time itself. Rushing in would be like trying to punch a ghost; you’d swing, and they’d already be behind you, hitting you yesterday.
"Okay team, new plan," Ryan whispered, his voice barely a breath in the tight, dusty vent. "We can’t fight them head-on. We need to be clever. Chris, you’re our big, loud distraction. Emma, I need you to find me a power conduit. Jennifer, Scarlett, you’re with me. We’re going to pull a fast one."
Everyone nodded, their faces serious. This was what they were good at.
A few minutes later, the plan went into action. Chris "Boulder" Magnus kicked open a service panel at the far end of the chamber with a loud BANG and jumped down, landing with a ground-shaking thud. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"HEY, YOU BUCKETS OF BOLTS!" he roared, slamming his giant shield with his fist. "COME GET SOME!"
The three Chrono-Golems instantly whirred to life. Their bronze heads swiveled, and their glowing blue eyes fixed on Chris. To them, he was a loud, shiny intruder who needed to be removed. Two of the Golems immediately began to glide towards him, their metal feet making no sound on the floor.
The third Golem stayed behind, guarding the artifact. This was the moment Ryan was waiting for.
While the two Golems were focused on Chris, Ryan, Scarlett, and Jennifer dropped silently from the vent on the opposite side of the room, their feet barely making a whisper as they landed. They were shadows moving in the dim light.
Chris was putting on the performance of a lifetime. He dodged and weaved, blocking the Golems’ energy blasts with his shield. The attacks were strange.
A blue bolt of energy would fire, and Chris would see it coming, but then it would suddenly speed up, hitting his shield before he was fully ready. Another time, a Golem would swing its metal fist, and the fist would seem to slow down mid-air, making it easy to block.
The Golems were toying with him, trapping him in little bubbles of fast and slow time.
"This is weird!" Chris grunted, bracing as a fast-forwarded punch sent him stumbling back a step. "It’s like they’re lagging, but on purpose!"
Meanwhile, Emma’s voice crackled in Ryan’s ear. "I’ve found it, Ryan. On the wall behind the main pedestal. A primary power junction. If you can overload it, it should disrupt all three of them for a few seconds."
Ryan saw it. A thick, glowing blue cable running into a control panel. But the last Golem was standing right in front of it, its head turning back and forth between Chris and the precious artifact it was guarding.
"Scarlett, Jennifer, I need an opening. Just three seconds," Ryan whispered.
Scarlett and Jennifer nodded to each other. Jennifer closed her eyes and stomped her foot hard on the ground. A wave of seismic energy, her "Tremor Sense" used as an attack, shot through the floor. It wasn’t strong enough to do damage, but it was like a sudden, sharp earthquake. The Golem guarding the artifact stumbled, its balance thrown off for a single, crucial moment.
In that same instant, Scarlett moved. She was a blur of motion, throwing a small, smoking pellet at the Golem’s head. The pellet burst into a cloud of thick, black smoke, completely blinding the Golem’s sensors.
That was the opening.
Ryan used his Chrono-Manipulation skill. "Haste!" The world around him slowed down to a crawl. He dashed forward, the air feeling thick like water. He reached the power junction while the smoke was still blooming and the Golem was still trying to find its footing.
He didn’t have time to be gentle. He pulled out his reinforced knife and plunged it deep into the control panel, then used his upgraded "System Override" skill, pouring a massive amount of raw, chaotic energy from his gauntlet directly into the Labyrinth’s power grid.
"Override initiated!" he yelled. "Get ready!"
A massive surge of power erupted from the panel. A wave of blue light washed over the entire room. All three Chrono-Golems froze in place, their glowing blue eyes flickering wildly. They were stunned.
"NOW!" Ryan roared.
Chris, no longer on the defensive, let out a battle cry and charged the two Golems that had been toying with him. He smashed into the first one with his shield, sending it flying into the second one like a bowling ball hitting a pin.
At the same time, Ryan turned his attention to the Golem that was still blinded by smoke. He didn’t just want to destroy it; he wanted to control it. He focused the full power of his new Weaver’s Gauntlet on the stunned machine.
"System Override, full power! Target: Allegiance Protocol!" he commanded.
The Golem’s flickering blue eyes suddenly glowed a bright, solid green. It shook its head as if waking from a dream. Then, it turned, raised its energy cannon, and fired a perfect shot at one of the other Chrono-Golems that Chris was fighting.
The battle turned into absolute chaos. It was now Ryan’s team and one confused Golem against the other two.
Chris was having the time of his life. "Yeah! Teamwork!" he shouted as his new robot friend helped him pulverize the second Golem into scrap metal.
The last remaining Golem, seeing itself outnumbered, tried to activate its ultimate defense. It began to glow, preparing to create a massive bubble of stopped time around the artifact.
But Ryan was faster. With a final, powerful thrust of his knife, he and his new Golem buddy finished it off. The Golem crumpled to the ground, its blue eyes going dark for good.
The fight was over. The chamber was silent, except for the heavy breathing of the team and the quiet hum of their one remaining Golem ally, who now stood patiently, waiting for its next order.
A message flashed on everyone’s screen.

Ryan walked over to the pedestal and carefully picked up the spinning, beautiful artifact. It felt cool to the touch and hummed with a strange, ancient power. He looked at the wreckage of the two Golems, then at the one still standing. He had an idea.
He walked over to the smoking piles of metal and used his extraction system.

A new understanding flooded his mind. He could now create the same weird time bubbles the Golems had used. He grinned. This was going to be very useful.
Suddenly, a new message from the god Warden blared across the system, making them all jump.

Emma’s voice was tense. "Ilsa got one. They must have smashed their way to the Golem foundry."
The race was tied. Now, it all came down to the last artifact: the Spatial Harmonizer. It was located in the very center of the Testing Ground, in a high-security vault protected by the biggest, baddest Golem of them all.
Ryan looked at his team, then at his new robot friend. "Well, team," he said with a determined smile. "Let’s go win this thing."
