Standing Next To You-Chapter 326: Misunderstanding Solved
Chapter 326: Misunderstanding Solved
Sunset arrived.
The orange sky glowed behind the couple as they walked side by side, their shadows stretching out before them.
Bei Sangyun watched their shadows sway back and forth until they finally touched at the shoulders.
This gave her an idea. She reached out her hand a little toward Fei Chuan’s side. Her shadow followed her movements. On the ground, it looked like she was holding Fei Chuan’s hand.
Bei Sangyun smiled triumphantly. But then, her smile turned stiff.
Why was she getting happy with just this?
She glanced at Fei Chuan’s hand.
The real thing was just an arm’s length away from her, but she couldn’t even touch it.
Tsk. She shouldn’t have easily agreed to not hold hands in public.
Because Fei Chuan had kissed her and appeased her earlier, she could no longer pull the ’angry girlfriend’ card as an excuse to hold his hand.
Bei Sangyun really wanted to make everyone around them leave until no one was in sight so that she could hold Fei Chuan’s hand to her heart’s content.
Too bad, she did not rent the whole park. On their next date, she promised herself to rent the whole place.
"You don’t have to keep such things from me," Fei Chuan broke the silence.
"It’s not a sensitive topic for me. Every family has skeletons in their closet, especially families like ours." He then turned to her, "Did you mind if I found out about your family matters before you?"
Bei Sangyun thought for a moment and shook her head.
"I don’t mind. But if you make a move without telling me, I might get a bit mad at you. I don’t want to trouble you when I can handle such things myself..." Bei Sangyun’s words cut off, as she came to a realization.
She looked up at Fei Chuan.
Fei Chuan stared back at her.
"I feel the same way. I don’t mind if you know about my affairs. But if you act on your own without consulting me, especially when it concerns my affairs, I might get mad."
Bei Sangyun’s mouth twitched. Fei Chuan was good at setting traps. She had just bitten her own hand.
"...That’s fair. Then what should we do about Fei Min? I am willing to help you, and I have the resources to do that."
Fei Chuan continued to walk alongside her. "...I appreciate your help. But like you, I don’t want to trouble you when I can handle it myself. Fei Min is not important enough for you to be involved."
Bei Sangyun nodded. She could understand that.
She almost made a mistake. Thankfully, Fei Chuan caught her. If not, she might have interfered in this matter and caused Fei Chuan to get mad at her.
Bei Sangyun suddenly paused in her steps.
Hold on.
She forgot something.
"Right! Jang Shin knows that we are dating now. He might tell the whole school."
Fei Chuan also stopped and looked at her in confusion. "So?"
Bei Sangyun: "?"
"He can tell if he wants. It’s actually a lot better if it spreads through him," Fei Chuan added with a smirk. He liked that idea.
Bei Sangyun blinked in confusion, "....You...aren’t you worried people might find out?"
Fei Chuan frowned, "You want to keep it a secret?"
Bei Sangyun: "...."
There was a moment of silence.
Then Bei Sangyun suddenly laughed and slapped her own forehead.
Fei Chuan frowned even harder. He caught her hand and looked at her red forehead.
"Geez, silly me. I thought you wanted to keep our relationship a secret. You made me worried for nothing." Bei Sangyun shook her head, laughing at her own stupidity.
Fei Chuan was stunned and was hit by realization. "...So the reason you didn’t announce it at school was because you thought I wanted to keep it a secret...."
Like Zhong Cheng, Fei Chuan also expected Bei Sangyun would suddenly make a huge announcement in the school forum or directly announce it through the loudspeaker—telling everyone that he had become her man.
With Bei Sangyun’s tyrannical ways, there was a 99 percent chance she would do that.
So he was really surprised when Bei Sangyun was quiet about it on the first day. He thought she wanted to keep it private and was rather relieved she decided to.
Although there was a part of him that was a bit...a tiny bit disappointed that what he expected did not happen.
Bei Sangyun’s eyes suddenly lit up, "Then can I boast about our relationship? Can I tell others that you are my boyfriend?"
Fei Chuan looked at her excited face, and his heart turned soft again, "....Well, you can, but not too excessively."
"Don’t worry, I won’t do crazy things like announcing it through the speakers or anything like that. It’s just that when people ask what we are, I am going to tell them I am your girlfriend and that you are mine."
Fei Chuan’s lips unconsciously curved, "...Well. Whatever."
Bei Sangyun nodded excitedly and couldn’t wait to boast about it tomorrow.
Finally, the bus they were waiting for arrived.
Bei Sangyun excitedly sat at the back. Once they were both seated, she caught Fei Chuan’s hands and played with them.
Fei Chuan watched Bei Sangyun’s small hands playing with his. His gaze softened.
He noticed that Bei Sangyun really liked skinship. Fei Chuan was still getting used to it, although it still made him embarrassed, but it wasn’t that bad.
If he were to be completely honest, it actually felt good and comfortable, as long as Bei Sangyun didn’t do anything excessive aside from holding his hands.
Suddenly, a familiar burning sensation traveled up to his throat, causing him to cough.
"Cough. Cough." Fei Chuan coughed, as if something was stuck in his throat.
Bei Sangyun was startled. She patted his back, "Are you alright?"
Fei Chuan coughed up nothing but air. After coughing, he was back to normal.
"Do you need water?" Bei Sangyun asked, ready to get out of the bus the moment Fei Chuan nodded.
Fei Chuan was quiet for a second, then shook his head. "Later...."
Bei Sangyun looked at him with worry. Was he overworking himself?
"Isn’t that your cousin?" Fei Chuan suddenly pointed out the window.
The sudden interruption halted Bei Sangyun’s thoughts. She looked in the direction he was pointing and indeed found Lin Sunji.
The bus they were on had stopped at a red light.
Across the street, Lin Sunji was holding a basket while talking to a student.
Lin Sunji seemed to be...selling something?
"What is she doing there?" Bei Sangyun asked, stunned.
Then she saw the student turn around to go to another store.
Bei Sangyun wasn’t able to see his face because his back was to her. But then, seconds later, the student came out of the store.
Before she could get a good look at him, the bus started to move.
Bei Sangyun fell into thought.
What was Lin Sunji doing?
