Chapter 337: Are you giving him a chance?

Lin Ginxian’s red eyes turned to Bei Sangyun. "You! You ungrateful brat!"

He let go of Butler Xin and reached out for Bei Sangyun’s neck. But Butler Xin immediately caught his hands. "Please calm down, master."

"You let me go! How dare a lowly butler like you deceive me! I accepted a lowlife like you into the family, and this is how you repay me. I just invited a bunch of wolves into my house."

Lin Ginxian was so angry that he hurled curses at Butler Xin.

After the last fight with Bei Sangyun, Lin Ginxian understood that scolding and getting mad at her was just like shooting himself in the foot. No matter how much he vented his anger, the other party remained unaffected and still—like a wall. He would only hurt his own hand if he punched. Even his father, who scolded Bei Sangyun, got ill instead of intimidating her.

It was easier to vent his anger on Butler Xin.

Bei Sangyun scratched her ears.

It was so noisy.

"Put aside your anger right now. Because of your anger issues, you can’t even see the situation in front of you. I don’t think you have the time to be angry at us."

Lin Ginxian did not take her words seriously at all. This wild child had turned smarter and tricked him once, but she wouldn’t be able to trick him twice.

"I’ve had enough of you, Bei Sangyun. If you continue to act like this, then don’t blame me for being heartless. I will not just throw you back to where you came from, but I and the Lin family will make sure you will never be able to step foot in the capital," Lin Ginxian threatened.

The capital was the land of golden opportunities. As a Lin, Lin Ginxian indeed had ways to ban Bei Sangyun from entering the capital. This was equivalent to cutting off her wings. She would only be able to stay in that small town of hers until she died.

"Oh?" Bei Sangyun’s eyebrow arched in surprise. "You have ways to cut me off from this damn family? Go ahead then. I am looking forward to it," she answered sincerely.

If Lin Ginxian could really cut her off from the Lin family, Bei Sangyun would be thankful. She wouldn’t need to work so hard to grow her influence and power just to get out of this family. Lin Ginxian would do that for her.

Lin Ginxian: "...." Of course, he didn’t have a way. Unless it was the Head Master who kicked Bei Sangyun out of the family.

Besides, he painstakingly brought her into the family; how could he really throw her out after all the effort and investment he made?

He gritted his teeth. "Bei Sangyun, I am giving you a warning. You think you are safe right now because you have this bastard with you. But you are too naive. You will regret relying on lowlifes like him. What you have done today angered the head of the family. Do you think you will be safe? Do you think a person like him can defend you?"

Bei Sangyun rolled her eyes. Her patience was thinning. "Mister, listen well. You have totally lost control over me. So leave it at that while I am still in a good mood. Be thankful that I am not asking you to pay for all the grudges I have against you."

Lin Ginxian was baffled. Bei Sangyun had totally dropped all pretenses.

His face was dark. "Without my protection, do you think you’ll be fine? The other branches will eat you alive."

Bei Sangyun opened her arms with a shrug. "Then let them. However, Mister, I wonder if you’ll be fine if the other branches attack you." She smirked. "Can you handle being attacked on both sides? For example, the first branch and the fifth branch teaming up against you. I wonder how long you can last." freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Lin Ginxian’s face collapsed. "What do you mean?"

Bei Sangyun leaned on the doorjamb and smiled. "Told you. Because of your anger issues, you can’t even see what’s in front of you."

She nodded at Butler Xin. "I have no patience to explain it to you. But my butler can. However, will he explain it to you after you almost strangled him?"

Bei Sangyun laughed mockingly and closed the door.

"What do you mean? Open this door! Bei Sangyun!"

Lin Ginxian pounded on the door. Butler Xin sighed and took out a folded paper from his coat.

"The Young Miss was supposed to give this to you after dinner. But you got angry. If you had only controlled your anger and talked to your daughter, perhaps we wouldn’t be having this conversation today."

Lin Ginxian was angered by Butler Xin’s nonsense. He did not want to be lectured, especially by a traitor. He did not believe these people had something he did not have. He grabbed the paper and opened it.

When he read the contents, his eyes widened. "...How did you get this?"

This written report was like a slap in the face. He had spies everywhere, but this detailed report wasn’t something his spies could have even gathered.

"How we got this is not important. What matters now is what you are going to do about it."

Lin Ginxian paled. "....This is impossible. These two can’t just team up to target me. Why me?"

The first branch was already the strongest branch of all. If they teamed up with the fifth branch to kick him out using the strategy in the written report, there was a big possibility that Lin Ginxian might really lose against them.

But what scared him was that these two were already planning behind his back while he was in the dark. He might lose everything without even knowing how or why!

"They started the plan around the time the fourth branch decided to continue to compete. They were supposed to attack the second branch but decided to turn against you instead," Butler Xin explained.

"....Where’s the rest? Where’s the rest of it?!" The report in Lin Ginxian’s hands was incomplete. It only revealed half of the plan that the two branches intended. With this, it was not enough to mount a counterattack.

Butler Xin remained calm and did not answer.

Lin Ginxian glared at him. "I don’t know how you got this information, but I will be able to confirm whether it is true or not. Until then, you two can hide or run if you want."

As Bei Sangyun said, Lin Ginxian wouldn’t have much time to be angry at them. He would be busy with the continuous attack of the two branches against him.

If he didn’t do anything, he might lose everything before he knew it. So, although he wanted to handle these two ungrateful bastards right away, it had to wait.

When Lin Ginxian left, Butler Xin let out a sigh of relief.

His eyes then turned complicated.

To be honest, although Bei Sangyun’s power and influence were not enough to go against the first and second branches, it was enough to finish Lin Ginxian off cleanly.

But she didn’t do so.

Why?

Bei Sangyun was not the type of person to pity others. In Butler Xin’s eyes, she didn’t have the conscience of normal people to be sympathetic and pity others, especially towards the person who had treated her badly in the past years.

Butler Xin was wracking his brain and could only explain Bei Sangyun’s decision as part of a plan for something greater.

Epilogue:

At the coffee shop, while Bei Sangyun was waiting for Fei Chuan, she was also working.

Bei Sangyun glanced at the reports from her spy. Lin Zhe had arrived in the country and had been investigating the matter with the fourth branch as Lin Fei had said. There was a particular action from him that Bei Sangyun found familiar.

Bei Sangyun stared at the photo of Lin Zhe’s subordinate visiting the fifth branch’s office. There were several photos of them meeting in different locations.

It seemed like Lin Zhe had compromised by cooperating with the fifth branch he once looked down on. The failure of acquiring the fourth branch must have irked him. Thus, he became impatient and worked with the other branch to successfully bring someone down.

He did this too in the past. Although he did it much later, when Bei Sangyun got Old Master Lin’s approval and successfully married off Lin Sunji to a commoner.

But who would be Lin Zhe’s target this time?

It would likely be the second branch.

Bei Sangyun tapped her fingers. After thinking for a few minutes, her tapping paused.

The family dinner was just around the corner.

Her eyes lit up. An idea came to her mind. She had just thought of something that could keep Lin Ginxian busy.

Bei Sangyun called Butler Xin and instructed him on a few things. When she finished, Butler Xin could not help but ask.

"Since you already have this weapon in your hand, why not use it to completely get rid of Lin Ginxian?"

"Getting rid of him is just a matter of time. But using him more would bring more advantages to us than getting rid of him."

"Are you sure it’s not because he is your father?"

Bei Sangyun laughed. "Are you seriously asking me that?" Was she someone who got easily swayed in Butler Xin’s eyes?

Butler Xin paused. His silence was an agreement.

"Leave this to him. Let’s see what decision he will make," Bei Sangyun spoke again.

Butler Xin was still hesitant. "What if he uses this against you?"

"Then he has made his decision."

The other line was silent again. Bei Sangyun knew why Butler Xin was hesitant.

He had worked with Lin Ginxian over the years and understood best what drove that man. For Lin Ginxian, his daughter was the least of his priorities and a liability he could throw away when needed.

Perhaps, Butler Xin thought she was making a foolish decision, assuming she was doing this because he was her father.

"...You might get hurt in this. Do you really have to give him a chance?" Butler Xin asked after a long pause.

Bei Sangyun looked down. Her long lashes covered the dark pools of her eyes.

Lin Ginxian’s daughter had been driven mad and died long ago. Before she died, she managed to get her revenge in the most cruel way possible.

That’s why after her rebirth, she didn’t bother with the Lin family. She had already exacted her revenge and witnessed their harsh ending.

But a villain like her was given a second chance by the heavens. She did not know why she was chosen out of all the people in the world. But this reason was enough for her not to spend her time hating the Lin family and her father.

That’s why when she held the fate of the fourth branch in her hand, she did not choose to destroy it as she did in the past. She gave the decision to them. It would be in their hands whether they wanted to be doomed or not.

"...I’m not giving him a chance. I’m giving him a choice. I am not generous. So if he messes this up, then he won’t be able to blame me if I destroy him again."

Bei Sangyun did not want to spend her time taking care of or getting revenge on these people. They would get what they deserved.

However, unlike in the past, she wouldn’t do it blindly in a crazed frenzy.
