Chapter 407: Nosebleed

Fei Chuan splashed his face with cold water, feeling the heat in his body gradually subside.

However, every time he closed his eyes, the memory of Bei Sangyun’s soft lips, her restrained moan, and the way her body trembled in his arms lingered in his mind, reigniting an unbearable heat within him.

If he hadn’t stopped earlier, he feared he wouldn’t have been able to control himself.

He constantly longed for her touch, always dreamed of her kiss. The deeper his feelings grew, the harder it became to suppress his desire for her.

Suddenly, a warm sensation filled his nose. Fei Chuan wiped it and stared at his fingers, stunned to see blood.

His face flushed red. To think he would get a nosebleed just from thinking about her.

"...Damn it." Fei Chuan cursed under his breath before heading to the bathroom for a cold shower.

.....

However, the nosebleed he initially attributed to the relentless heat in his body occurred again the next day.

Two drops of blood fell onto the paper he was writing on. He quickly tilted his head back to stop more blood from flowing and glanced sideways, relieved to see Bei Sangyun still immersed in her studies.

Fei Chuan quietly peeled off the blood-stained paper and, with his back to Bei Sangyun, excused himself.

"I’ll be going to the bathroom," he said quickly, leaving the room to rest for a while until no more blood flowed down.

This time, Fei Chuan knew the nosebleed wasn’t from thinking about R-18 scenes. When he was younger, he had suffered from nosebleeds just before his illness relapsed. It was a symptom that usually signaled he would be bedridden and fighting for his life for days.

"This can’t be happening..." Fei Chuan muttered. The last time his illness flared up was several years ago.

He still remembered it vividly since it happened the day after he convinced Bei Sangyun to attend school. His illness had lasted for a whole week before he was able to return to normal life.

Would he have to suffer again? But he didn’t want to get sick with Bei Sangyun around.

Whenever he was stricken with his illness, it was so bloody that it looked like he was on the brink of death. He didn’t want Bei Sangyun to witness that.

He thought he was cured for good since it had been so long since his last episode. So why was it happening now?

This was a critical time for Bei Sangyun. The mock exams were approaching, and she needed to focus on her studies. If he got sick now, he was certain Bei Sangyun wouldn’t be able to concentrate on her exams.

"...Please don’t get sick now, Fei Chuan," he whispered to himself, hoping desperately that he wouldn’t fall ill.

....

Bei Sangyun’s studies were progressing smoothly. She had the best teacher, the most comprehensive review materials, and with her ability to grasp concepts quickly, she was able to catch up on their lessons.

But there was one problem.

"I’m going to the bathroom," Fei Chuan excused himself, standing up and leaving the room quickly before Bei Sangyun could respond.

Bei Sangyun watched him go, puzzled. Does Fei Chuan have bladder problems? This was the third time he’d gone to the bathroom, and they hadn’t even been studying for two hours.

He did this yesterday, too—he made multiple trips to the bathroom that made her increasingly concerned.

When Fei Chuan returned, Bei Sangyun couldn’t help but suggest, "Do you want to visit the hospital with me? I think we both need a check-up."

She did not want to embarrass him by directly suggesting he see a doctor, so she proposed they both go.

"Why? Is something wrong?" Fei Chuan asked, concerned. "Are you feeling unwell?"

Bei Sangyun smiled, "No, but it’s always good to check if everything is fine to prevent any future issues. We could bring Grandma Pei and the others, too."

Fei Chuan hesitated. "...Oh. Grandma Pei and the others might need that. You can take them with you. I have a personal doctor, and he just checked on me recently, so I’m fine."

Bei Sangyun linked her arm with his and leaned in, trying to act cute. "I trust your doctor, but he hasn’t done a full check-up on you, has he? It’s better to have a thorough examination when it comes to our health. So, let’s go together, hmm?"

Fei Chuan chuckled, amused by her attempt to act cute. It was like a fierce tiger suddenly meowing sweetly, her long lashes fluttering animatedly.

’So adorable.’

He couldn’t resist giving a quick peck on the tip of her nose.

"Alright. Since you’re being this cute, I have no choice but to comply. But I’ll have my check-up only with my personal doctor. I’ll make an appointment. Let’s take care of yours and the others first."

Bei Sangyun blinked in surprise. That sudden kiss made her heart skip a beat.

She smiled. "Okay, keep your word. When you set the date, let me know. I’ll accompany you."

Although Bei Sangyun wanted Fei Chuan to see a doctor as soon as possible, she agreed to go with Grandma Pei first, so she immediately booked their appointments at the hospital.

The full body check-up took longer than expected, and the results wouldn’t be available until the next day. After fulfilling her promise, Fei Chuan also assured her that he would schedule an appointment with his personal doctor soon.

Seeing him take it seriously, Bei Sangyun finally felt a bit more at ease.

.....

The next day, Bei Sangyun received a call from Butler Xin.

She was being summoned by Old Master Lin back to the Lin mansion for the family dinner that evening. While she dismissed the initial command, the second piece of news caught her interest.

"Your father is looking for you. It seems he has made up his mind."

It seemed it was time for a decision. She had given him enough time.

Bei Sangyun nodded. "Alright. I want to see for myself which path he intends to take."

Would Lin Ginxian continue to be her enemy, or would he, by some miracle, change his stubborn ways?

She had no qualms about cutting Lin Ginxian off and leaving him to the fate he met in her previous life. But before doing that, she wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.

It wasn’t that she suddenly grew a conscience or that familial bonds had awakened within her. It was for the sake of the powerful force that had granted her a second chance at life.

If a villain like her, who had ruined several lives, could go back in time to be with the people she cared for and loved, then as someone given such a miracle, she would offer others the chance to forge their own paths as well.

And it would be up to them whether they chose a path leading to destruction or an unknown road that might very well save their lives.

Bei Sangyun informed Fei Chuan that she would be leaving for the Lin mansion and asked if he wanted to accompany her.

"Do you want me to go with you?" Fei Chuan asked.

Bei Sangyun considered it, then shook her head. "Not really. The Lin mansion isn’t a clean place. Besides, I can handle the situation there easily. What I’m more concerned about is you getting bored here alone. But I also don’t want to bring you into that filthy environment."

There were too many unpleasant people at the Lin mansion. She worried their foul words and dirty gazes might affect Fei Chuan.

"Don’t worry about me. I have plenty to keep me busy at home. Just call me when you’re done, and I’ll come pick you up."

"Okay."

With some reluctance, Bei Sangyun bid him goodbye and left.

As soon as the car departed, Fei Chuan called his doctor. He only had half a day to complete the full-body check-up and forge the results as he desired.

...

Since it was a family dinner, every member of the Lin family attended. They cleared their schedules and spent the morning at the Lin mansion.

Bei Sangyun arrived shortly after lunch. Her arrival stirred excitement among the other branches of the family. Both for good reasons and bad.

The first and the fifth branches had been eagerly waiting for her return.

Although they had chosen not to actively pressure the third branch, they still planned to tarnish Bei Sangyun’s reputation at the family dinner that evening. Their aim was to diminish her standing and lower her status in their father’s eyes.

In contrast, the second and fourth branches awaited her arrival for different reasons.

When Bei Sangyun reached the third branch’s premises, Maid Ye Zhai and Driver Chen were there to greet her. She hadn’t brought these loyal servants with her to her own home, so their presence was a welcome and somewhat nostalgic.

Who would have thought she would miss them?

Maid Ye Zhai, who rarely showed much emotion, smiled at Bei Sangyun. She also seemed happy seeing Bei Sangyun again.

"How are you doing, young miss?"

Bei Sangyun returned the smile. "Great. I have a lot of stories to share."

Their conversations typically centered around Bei Sangyun’s love life. Maid Ye Zhai had played a significant role in her success in this area, so whenever there was any progress, she was always the first to hear about it.

Maid Ye Zhai listened intently. Halfway through Bei Sangyun’s story, she couldn’t help but comment.

"It seems you’re both at the height of your feelings for each other. It’s natural to miss each other and crave physical affection. This is what people call ’the honeymoon phase,’" Maid Ye Zhai said, her eyes suddenly glinting.

"This is the best time, young miss. You should take full advantage of it."
