Star Odyssey-Chapter 3552: The Perfect Point
Chapter 3552: The Perfect Point
"Child, have you thought about how you will face your father?" Shan Xian asked. They were traveling towards the Sima Chamber of Commerce.
Yue Susu was no longer able to represent the Sima Chamber of Commerce, as she had been disowned. Lu Yin still needed to learn the truth behind Yue Cheng's murder, and the Sima Chamber of Commerce was necessary for that.
However, he had also promised to not harm Yue Ting, due to his concerns regarding the Seraph. Yue Ting was capable of finding materials to produce sequence bases for the entire Spirit Nidus, which made him too important to the megaverse as a whole. If something happened to Yue Ting, the High Seraph would not be able to sit idly by.
Additionally, Yue Susu had promised Lu Yin something, which was that she was absolutely certain that Yue Ting would not go against the Grandverse Manor because of anything regarding Yue Cheng’s murder.
She said that Yue Ting was too cautious. Not to mention Yue Cheng—even if she, Yue Susu, had been kidnapped by the Grandverse Manor, Yue Cheng would have done nothing more than ask the Ascendant Hall for help. The man would never attempt to directly go against the Grandverse Manor.
Yue Susu stared off into the distance, still in a daze. "I don't know..."
Shan Xian let out a helpless sigh. He had no idea what to tell the young woman.
Yue Susu would rather face the High Seraph himself than Yue Ting at this moment.
As for Shan Xian, he no longer needed to return to the Gate of Laws. That demand had been completely dropped by Zhan Ming.
After watching the passing stars for a time, Yue Susu stood up and walked over to Lu Yin, much to Shan Xian’s confusion.
Qing Xiao had been watching Yue Susu. He respected the woman a great deal. How many people throughout history had been able to outmaneuver one of the Seven Seraphs? This woman was even weaker than Qing Xiao, and yet she had already accomplished things that he could never even dream of doing. She was an absolutely amazing woman.
Yue Susu strode past Qing Xiao as she walked up behind Lu Yin. In front of her was Qing Yun, whose hand was being held by Lu Yin.
"Third Boss."
Lu Yin said nothing as he continued to silently examine Qing Yun’s physique. After a moment, he dismissively said, "Qing Xiao, move a bit further away. You’re blocking the view."
Qing Xiao was confused. "I’m standing behind you."
"I can see back there as well," Lu Yin replied in an irritated tone.
Qing Xiao clenched his teeth. This guy, he’s doing this on purpose.
Qing Yun was also angry. Her anger was not obvious, but her physique revealed her emotions quite clearly, which satisfied Lu Yin. It was precisely the reaction that he had wanted to see.
Yue Susu spoke up again, "Third Boss."
"What is it?" Lu Yin asked.
Old Tao glanced back, but after a single glimpse, he turned his attention back to the front.
Yue Susu asked, "Why did you save me?"
Lu Yin took a moment before replying. "I can’t say. I just couldn’t stand the sight of a bunch of old monsters bullying an abandoned girl. Honestly, it was quite tragic."
In seeing Yue Susu and Shan Xian, Lu Yin had been reminded of the remnants of the Lu family who had struggled to survive on their own in the Perennial World.
Yue Susu gave a bitter smile. "With your strength, Third Boss, you must have already seen everything. While I don't understand your motives, I still thank you for saving my life."
As she spoke, she slowly knelt down, which prompted Shan Xian to step forward and bow low. "Thank you, Third Boss, for saving this child."
Lu Yin waved his hand. "There’s no need for any of that. Just help me make a lot of money."
Yue Susu was surprised. "Make you money?"
Lu Yin responded in a matter-of-factly tone, "I already said that, didn’t I? I saved you because you can make me money. I can see another woman’s shadow in you, so I’m keeping my eye on you."
He was referring to Qiong Xi'er, but to those listening, Lu Yin sounded as though he was speaking of an old flame.
Qing Yun subconsciously glanced at Lu Yin. He could be so casual when mentioning someone he cared about, but the more casual the comment, the more deeply that person must be engraved on his heart.
So even the Third Boss had such a side to him.
Yue Susu’s expression grew solemn. "Third Boss, you don’t need to worry. I will do anything you ask of me."
That was enough for Lu Yin. "From now on, make sure you cooperate closely with Ye Laogui. The Sima Chamber of Commerce isn’t bad at all."
"The Sima Chamber of Commerce?" Yue Susu was caught off guard, and everyone else also looked at Lu Yin in surprise.
He casually replied, "That’s right. You risked your life to save the Sima Chamber of Commerce, so naturally, it belongs to you."
Yue Susu instantly thought of Yue Ting, which complicated her feelings greatly. "Then, what about my father?"
"He is him, and you are you. He can go to the Ascendant Hall. Isn't he supported by the High Seraph?" Lu Yin replied.
Only then did Yue Susu understand that it was quite possible that Lu Yin actually wanted her to make money. What does he want money for?
In the Spirit Nidus, money meant spirit seeds.
In the Tianyuan Megaverse, Lu Yin had constantly worked to obtain money because the more star crystals he had, the more useful his die became. Ever since he had first started cultivating, he had used his die to eliminate countless dangers. However, after arriving in the Spirit Nidus, he had lost any interest in making money, as the spirit seeds here were of no use to him. It did not matter how many or how few he had.
However, the spirit seeds that he had received from Yue Susu had sparked an idea. While those spirit seeds might not be of any use to Lu Yin himself, if he could remove all the spirit seeds from the Spirit Nidus, would that not erase the megaverse’s future?
This possibility had become entrenched in Lu Yin’s thoughts, and he felt that he should pursue it, even if the chances of success were extremely remote. His goal was to destroy as many spirit seeds as possible.
The fewer spirit seeds there were, the fewer the number of people who would be able to start cultivating in the Spirit Nidus. There was no doubt that many geniuses would fail to rise to power if this happened.
Not every genius was born to a powerful family or one of the major powers.
Many people might end up living their entire lives without ever obtaining even a single spirit seed. If Earth’s apocalypse had taken place on another planet, Lu Yin would have still ended up becoming a cultivator, because he had already been making plans to do just that. However, the people of Earth would not have had the same opportunity, and a number of talented cultivators had come from Earth. freёnovelkiss.com
Lu Yin wanted to weaken the future potential of the Spirit Nidus as much as possible.
Old Yu wanted to reset the Consciousness Megaverse so that the Spirit Nidus would produce a greater number of Immortals than the Tianyuan Megaverse, which would forever fix the hierarchy between the two megaverses. As for Lu Yin, he wanted to reduce the Spirit Nidus’s future potential by eliminating their most powerful experts.
The longer it took the Consciousness Megaverse to be reset, the more advantageous the situation would become for the Tianyuan Megaverse.
Everything boiled down to whose plan would be more effective.
Before reaching the Spirit Nidus, Lu Yin and those who traveled with him had been prepared for death. However, it was becoming clear that death might not come for them quite as soon as they had believed.
Old Yu might really intend to follow the plan that he had mentioned to Lu Yin, which would result in the Spirit Nidus and the Tianyuan Megaverse coexisting, but Lu Yin did not trust the old man. The future was unknown, and Lu Yin could only take things one step at a time. He was in the Spirit Nidus, not the Tianyuan Megaverse, and it was impossible for him to control everything.
During the confrontation in the Daquan Domain, Lu Yin had wanted to use his spirals of karma to expose the Karmic Lines of Old Yu and the others so that he could observe their karma and uncover any potential plans they might have in place. However, it was extremely difficult to use karma against such old monsters, as they were all able to sense the threat of karma.
If even Mr. Li could avoid Lu Yin’s spirals of karma, then there was no need to mention the three in the Daquan Domain.
It would not be easy for Lu Yin to uncover their secrets.
"Third Boss, there’s something, but I don’t know if it’ll help you or not." Yue Susu spoke up hesitantly, but after seeing that Lu Yin showed no reaction, she continued, "There’s a rumor that a third key to the Gate of Laws might be in the hands of the Daquan Domain’s Chamber of Commerce."
Lu Yin whipped around, his eyes sharply focusing on Yue Susu in an instant. "What did you just say?"
Yue Susu replied, "I don’t know if the rumors are true or not, and they are not widely known, but it’s something that I once heard from my father. I have no idea where he heard it, though.
"The Gate of Laws is not just one of the seven major powers, but rather an actual gate that can be opened with three keys. One is in the hands of the Zhan family, one is with the Ascendant Hall, and the third has been lost for countless years. Throughout the years, many have searched for it, but since so few even know about it, there are fewer and fewer people looking for it nowadays.
"The group that has the greatest chances of finding that key is the Chamber of Commerce. One of the reasons why the Chamber of Commerce first established the system with the five official trade associations was to search for that third key."
Lu Yin’s eyes flickered. "You aren’t completely sure that it’s in Yi Shang’s hands?"
Yue Susu shook her head. "I can’t be sure."
Lu Yin looked away. The missing piece to the puzzle had just been provided.
Old Yu was not the key piece to the puzzle. Rather, it was the third key.
Why had the Gate of Laws cooperated with the Chamber of Commerce? What gave the Chamber of Commerce the right to claim that they could secure another Seraph position? Zhan Ming had repeatedly said that Yi Shang had promised to help the Zhan family secure a title of Seraph, but that was nothing but a joke. Yi Shang was unable to secure such a position for even his own organization.
The real reason why the Gate of Laws had agreed to cooperate with Yi Shang was because of the third key.
This was the same way as how Lu Yin had controlled Zhan Yan and forced the Gate of Laws to obey.
Lu Yin smiled. So that’s it. This is the whole story.
Finally, Lu Yin understood the path that Yi Shang was walking. Despite becoming one of the Seven Seraphs, Yi Shang had always been extremely attentive to his Chamber of Commerce, which had not made any sense.
Lu Yin himself had once been very concerned with obtaining ever-increasing amounts of star essence, but as his status had risen, it had become easier and easier to do so. Ultimately, a single order would have caused the entire Tianyuan Megaverse to send all their available star essence to Lu Yin. He had no need to control a conglomerate or a business at all.
If Yi Shang so wished, he could easily form a new corporation to replace his Chamber of Commerce, or the Chamber of Commerce could fully support Yi Shang. There was no need for a Seraph to be overly concerned about such matters.
The reality was that the third key had always been Yi Shang’s true goal.
The Chamber of Commerce did possess some additional value as well, which was the ability to cooperate with the Gate of Laws by providing them with sequence base materials.
The Chamber of Commerce appeared to have vast influence, but upon closer inspection, the organization did not seem to serve much of a purpose. It was only in the shadows that it was able to play a crucial role.
Lu Yin also possessed one of the three keys, as it was with Zhan Yan who remained with the Grandverse Manor. That key was more than just a key, as it also represented the temporal reversion that had rolled back thirty-seven years, as well as the karma of the person who had held the key during that time; had it been Forgotten Ruins God or True God?
However, if the Gate of Laws was opened, what lay beyond it?
"Is it said that behind the Gate of Laws lies a path to Immortality?"
Everyone turned to look at Lu Yin, but Old Tao was the first to speak. "To that, Third Boss, the fact is that most cultivators only know of the Gate of Laws as another organization. There are few who are aware that it is an actual gate, but for those who know the truth, there are many speculations. Some claim that it leads to a path to the Immortal realm that does not necessitate resetting a megaverse or overcoming Dukkha. Others claim that it’s the ultimate place for secluded meditation. There are even a few who say the gate leads to a mythical place."
At this point, the old man reverted to his normal flattery. "It’s even possible that it leads to your own Tianyuan Megaverse, Third Boss."
Ye Laogui rolled his eyes, and Shan Xian coughed twice. Old Tao’s last bit of flattery had caught them both off guard.
Even Lu Yin was rendered speechless.
Ru Mu laughed and asked, "Boss, do you want to open the Gate of Laws?"
Lu Yin expressed some genuine interest. "I’m happy to do anything that infuriates the High Seraph."
Qing Xiao suddenly interjected, "It’s also said that opening that gate will destroy the Spirit Transformation."
Lu Yin looked at Qing Xiao. "That’s a rumor?"
Old Tao looked confused. "I’ve never heard of that before."
Ru Mu shook her head in agreement, and Shan Xian also agreed. "I’ve never heard of that either."
Lu Yin turned to Qing Yun, whose expression had turned serious. "Jiu Xian mentioned this once—when she was drunk."
"Drunken words are honest words?" Ru Mu asked in surprise.
Old Tao frowned. "There are only rumors, as no one has ever opened the Gate of Laws. There is no record of it ever happening, and as far as I know, Jiu Xian spouts a great deal of nonsense when drunk."
Qing Xiao instantly agreed, "That’s very true. Whenever Jiu Xian gets drunk, she says a great deal of absurd things, much of which is difficult to even make sense of."
A thought suddenly struck Lu Yin. "Could it be that there’s another megaverse on the other side of the gate?"
