Star Odyssey-Chapter 3560: The Seraph Knot
Chapter 3560: The Seraph Knot
Lu Yin threw another palm strike, knocking both Untamed and Lan back. Blood fell with every step she took. At the same time, the protection of the formation made from the Treasureform Sequence Technique started to shatter.
Lan glared at Lu Yin, furious. "Do you want to go to war with the entire Spirit Nidus?"
Lu Yin clasped his hands behind his back. "I am also a Seraph."
With those words, he raised a foot and took a step forward. He passed by Lan to appear directly in front of the Apex Palace.
Lan wanted to stop the man, but there was nothing that she could do. She simply was not strong enough on her own.
Both the thirty-six Ascensii and Untamed had failed. Unless all of the power that belonged to the Apex Palace was used, all efforts would be useless. However, Lan could not mobilize that force.
Only the High Seraph could.
The Ascendant Hall was connected to thirty-six parallel universes, which was essentially the same as connecting the thirty-six domains. If the Ascendant Hall was in danger, all the powerful cultivators from all thirty-six domains would offer their unconditional support, abandoning everything to focus their full strength on the Ascendant Hall.
Unfortunately, Lan could not summon such reinforcements. That right was reserved for the High Seraph alone.
Carving on the wall of the Apex Palace was incredibly disrespectful. Why was the High Seraph not putting a stop to it?
Lu Yin moved to stand in front of the Apex Palace. His hand rose, ready to start writing words.
Behind him, Su Shidao was shocked. Is he really going to carve a message? What will he write? What is the High Seraph thinking? Why isn’t he stopping this?
Lu Yin’s hand rose and made contact with the Apex Palace’s wall. He was about to start carving.
"That’s enough. Stop now."
Su Shidao and Lan both looked up into the sky. The High Seraph had returned. The Morrow Behemoth had fallen back asleep.
Lu Yin turned around. "I thought that you didn’t care."
The High Seraph calmly replied, "How should I put this? For now, this place belongs to me. If you want to deface the walls, you certainly can, but only if you can go through me."
Lu Yin met the High Seraph’s eyes. "I’m not capable of that right now."
"Then leave. Return when you are capable," the High Seraph said indifferently.
Lu Yin smiled. "Then it won’t just be me carving on your walls."
The High Seraph just shrugged. "Threatening me with an impossibility that will never happen is pathetic and childish. It’s the behavior of the weak."
Lu Yin laughed. "I’m not threatening you, just informing you."
Su Shidao stepped forward. "This commotion is already more than enough. If things continue, the entire Spirit Nidus will be thrown into chaos.
"It’s time to tie the Seraph knot."
The High Seraph looked over at Lan. She retracted Untamed and pulled out two white ribbons that she sent flying over to Lu Yin and Su Shidao.
Lu Yin grabbed the ribbon. It was just cloth, and quite lightweight at that. It felt as though it had been woven from clouds and mist.
Su Shidao skillfully tied the Seraph knot and then looked over at Lu Yin. "Like this."
Lu Yin followed the old man’s example and tied his own Seraph knot. The ribbons were then released into the sky, where they slowly burned until they disappeared.
This ceremony meant that Lu Yin had officially been recognized as a Seraph by both the Spirit Nidus and the High Seraph. He was now officially one of the megaverse’s Seven Seraphs.
"If there truly is an invincible being, he has already seen you and me," Su Shidao said with a sigh.
Lu Yin looked upwards. The invincible being... Is it really Master Qing Cao?
The High Seraph's voice rang out. "To qualify as a Seraph, one must establish their dominion over a region.
"Su Shidao, you became a Seraph in the Spirit Treasure Domain. You shall therefore rule over the Spirit Treasure Domain.
"Lu Yin, you became a Seraph in the Hundred Grasses Domain. However, the Hundred Grasses Domain lies at the center of the Spirit Nidus. Thus, from this moment on, you shall rule over the Umbral Deep.
"To be a Seraph is to protect the Spirit Nidus. Never retreat from any battle. Our Spirit Nidus faces two formidable enemies: the Consciousness Megaverse and the Tianyuan Megaverse. Our goal is to reset both megaverses, leading the people of the Spirit Nidus to the path to Immortality, ensuring eternal prosperity."
Su Shidao could not resist glancing over at Lu Yin, but the young man was just as calm as the High Seraph.
"The Seven Seraphs are authorized to mobilize the resources of the Spirit Nidus for the benefit of the Spirit Nidus," the High Seraph continued. "Finally, a word of caution: if you are ever defeated by an opponent, your title as Seraph will be revoked."
Lu Yin met the High Seraph’s eyes. "What about the High Seraph’s title?"
The man answered in an indifferent tone, "That would also be revoked. Such titles do not allow for failure.
"You two may leave now."
Soon after, Lu Yin and Su Shidao left the Ascendant Hall.
Once the two men were gone, the Ascendant Hall publicly announced that Bao Qi and Yi Shang had officially been stripped of their titles as Seraphs and replaced by the Grandverse Manor’s Third Boss, Lu Yin, and the Spirit Treasure Society’s Su Shidao.
The announcement did not create much of a commotion. Everyone had already known the two men would become Seraphs. The only surprise was that it had happened so quickly.
The entire Spirit Nidus grew puzzled, trying to understand just what the High Seraph was thinking.
It was clear to all that the Grandverse Manor had blatantly gone against the rules of the megaverse, and they had openly antagonized the Ascendant Hall. The Third Boss had gone so far as to threaten to carve words on the walls of the Apex Palace. Furthermore, the Grandverse Manor was from the Tianyuan Megaverse. The fact that such a person had still succeeded in becoming a Seraph of the Spirit Nidus was rather unbelievable.
Many people went to the Ascendant Hall to petition the High Seraph.
There were also many claims that the High Seraph's actions had helped the wars against the Consciousness and Tianyuan megaverses. The Spirit Nidus had worked for eons to reset both megaverses, and that goal had never changed. In pursuit of that goal, cultivators from both megaverses were welcome to join the Spirit Nidus, and they could even become one of the Seven Seraphs. Such things were not a problem, as they were done in order to strengthen the Spirit Nidus.
Regardless of whether an individual was hostile towards the Spirit Nidus, once those megaverses were reset, those people would belong solely to the Spirit Nidus. Wu Wei, one of the Consciousness Megaverse’s Thirteen Luminaries, was an example of one such individual. That conscient served as the guardian of the Consciousness Domain.
This explanation was accepted by most people, and the evidence that they used as proof of the theory was that Lu Yin had carved nothing upon the Apex Palace.
He had threatened to engrave the name of Boundless on the Apex Palace, but when he actually went to the Ascendant Hall, that had not happened. This served as proof that the Third Boss had reached some sort of consensus with the High Seraph.
There was an explanation for all that had happened, but that explanation caused many people to fear an impending crisis.
If cultivators from the Consciousness and Tianyuan Megaverses were allowed to compete for the titles of the Spirit Nidus’s Seven Seraphs, then there was no doubt that it would become much, much more difficult to receive that title.
All of this caused the mentality of the Spirit Nidus as a whole to undergo a great shift after Lu Yin became a Seraph.
...
After Lu Yin and Su Shidao’s Seraph knots had burned away, their images simultaneously appeared in an unknown location.
"There’s been another change? This is happening more frequently. Did something happen?"
"Probably not, but they are changing too frequently. Let’s look into this. After all, the young master is still there."
...
When Lu Yin returned to the Hundred Grasses Domain, the first thing that he did was to start moving resources around. He used his authority as a Seraph to collect spirit seeds. He claimed that it was all to ensure that they were properly used.
All of the Seven Seraphs had the authority to gather resources, even those that belonged to the seven major powers.
Lu Yin started by targeting the Chamber of Commerce. He cared nothing about the fact that the company was cooperating with the Gate of Laws and the Wisdom Domain to deal with the High Seraph. Lu Yin simply wanted their spirit seeds.
The Hundred Leaf Trade Association and the Sima Chamber of Commerce conducted business to earn spirit seeds, but Lu Yin arrogantly requisitioned them.
The Seven Seraphs were known to be so powerful that no one dared to openly oppose their orders.
One order from Lu Yin saw trillions of spirit seeds be sent to Boundless. They piled up to form a mountain, and both Lu Tianyi and Ce Wangtian were completely stunned by the sight.
In particular, those like Cai Keqing, who were from the Spirit Nidus and who had never seen so many spirit seeds before, were amazed. Even the Daquan Domain’s Chamber of Commerce would ache to part with so many spirit seeds.
However, from the perspective of the entire Spirit Nidus, this was far from enough.
Lu Yin had merely received the first batch, which was everything that was readily available within a certain range. He did not focus solely on the Chamber of Commerce, but also on the rest of the thirty-six domains, the seven major powers, and even the Ascendant Hall.
He even thought that the spirit tree that grew there was quite nice and had wanted to uproot it before he had left.
There was no one observing Boundless at this time. Lu Yin had officially been recognized as a Seraph, which meant that there would be no more surprises until after the Day of Offering.
He sent the experts of Boundless out, using his authority as a Seraph name to have them amass resources without restraint. Their goal was simple: collect as many spirit seeds as possible, continuing until they finally crossed the High Seraph’s bottom line—only then would they face him.
More and more powerhouses emerged from the battleship, each headed in a different direction.
Ba Liu and Yi Yao’s deaths remained a mystery. The murderer had hidden themselves well. The purpose of Yue Cheng’s death seemed to have been to make Lu Yin learn of the relationship between the Chamber of Commerce, the Gate of Laws, and the Wisdom Domain. The problem was, who had benefited the most from Lu Yin seeing the truth of the cooperation?
No one.
He could not find anyone who had benefited from this.
For starters, the Wisdom Domain did not want their cooperation to be revealed, especially not to someone like Lu Yin, who was from another megaverse. They would rather have Lu Yin fight against the High Seraph so that they could reap benefits from the side.
Secondly, the High Seraph would gain nothing. For what reason would he want Lu Yin to learn of the three-way cooperation? Given the High Seraph’s strength, he could easily sweep all seven major powers aside. Unless every single powerhouse in the entire Spirit Nidus united, there was nothing that could threaten the High Seraph.
One of the reasons Lu Yin had been allowed to act so freely was that the High Seraph wanted to eliminate opposing forces within the Spirit Nidus. If Lu Yin learned of the Wisdom Domain’s goals, he would not harm the domain, which would not benefit the High Seraph in any way.
What other possibilities were there? The Phantom Reach had been almost completely destroyed. The Consciousness Domain had no connection to such matters, and they had also been severely weakened. What about the Primal Beastland? There was also no connection. The Primal Beastland was a place for beast-form Spirit Rebirths to gather, and it was not connected to any of the other factions. Was it possible that Emperor Wu wanted to replace the High Seraph and had therefore decided to allow Lu Yin form an alliance with the Wisdom Domain to deal with the High Seraph?
That seemed like the only realistic possibility, and yet the incident did not seem to have been the work of the Primal Beastland.
Lu Yin stood at Boundless’s bow, staring off into the distance. This battleship had once served as the place where he had first started cultivating after losing his memories. It had since accompanied him to the Spirit Nidus. It was possible that Boundless would also be where Lu Yin met his end.
Outside of Boundless, there were many members of the Grandverse Manor moving about. There was also a great number of outsiders, many of whom were women. They were still waiting for Yu Shan to be released.
Yu Shan had hung from a tree at the front of Boundless for a long time. The High Seraph had never mentioned the man, and Lu Yin had almost forgotten about him.
Yu Shan's injuries had long since healed, but he still could not escape.
Lu Yin went over to Yu Shan and said, "I visited the Ascendant Hall. Your so-called master didn’t mention you even once. Are you sure that you're his disciple?"
Yu Shan hung from the tree in an awkward position, yet he still responded to Lu Yin's comment. "It was by his kindness that my master even accepted me to begin with. No matter if I am killed or captured, I should never make any trouble for him."
Lu Yin was impressed. "You have a good attitude. Why don’t you become my disciple instead? I could teach you something. Physical strength?"
Yu Shan stared at Lu Yin. "Boundless won’t be around for much longer. I know my master well."
Lu Yin nodded. "I understand him as well, but you know nothing about me."
"I don’t need to know a thing."
"As the High Seraph’s disciple, you can freely roam about the Spirit Nidus, so why did you stay here in the Hundred Grasses Domain, clinging to your former glory?" Lu Yin asked, curious. He had never been able to understand why Yu Shan had remained in the Hundred Grasses Domain after destroying it with one comment. He had been praised by the High Seraph and accepted as the man’s disciple. Why had Yu Shan not gone to the Ascendant Hall?
The Hundred Grasses Domain had been ruined long ago. Staying there only made Yu Shan seem like a narrow-minded person who clung to the past. That was not the sort of behavior that the person ranked second on the White Spirit List and was the High Seraph’s disciple should have.
Yu Shan did not react.
"What do you care about the most?" Lu Yin suddenly asked.
Yu Shan looked up at Lu Yin, not understanding the question.
