Chapter 1010: I've Arrived

The reports revealed a shocking truth, the force that had attacked Chongque City was indeed a military faction from Eden. They had wanted to take the opportunity to completely destroy Chongque City and infiltrate the hundred thousand base planets through the city’s central management formations.

Now that the human race was achieving overwhelming victories on the Star Battlefield, Eden’s situation had become increasingly desperate. Even their operatives embedded within human territory were finding it nearly impossible to survive.

Cornered like desperate rats, they resorted to a vile and audacious plan, to infiltrate the hundred thousand base planets via Chongque City and sever the connection between the real world and those bases by destroying the city afterward.

If they succeeded, the hundred thousand base planets would have vanished from the grid. They could then go into hiding, slowly rebuild, and cling to survival. It was an incredibly bold scheme, and it had nearly succeeded. Unfortunately for them, they had encountered Li Xiaofei.

After reading the confessions, Li Junjie broke out in a cold sweat. He had come dangerously close to becoming a criminal.

“Master, how should we deal with those who confessed?” He asked, still shaken.

Li Xiaofei answered flatly, “Execute them all.”

He held not the slightest trace of compassion or forgiveness for traitors who had betrayed their own race. Their crimes were unforgivable. They deserved to die a thousand deaths.

Li Junjie carried out the order without hesitation. At the same time, he submitted a full report of the incident to the higher authorities.

Li Xiaofei remained in Chongque City in the days that followed. Beyond training Li Junjie in cultivation, he also took care of other matters. Eventually, word of his presence in the city could no longer be contained.

The first one to come looking for him was Principal Hu. She wore a long white dress, and though her face bore no makeup, her beauty was breathtaking.

“You came, but didn’t even come see me?” asked Principle Hu. She smiled like a blooming flower, her expression filled with rare gentleness and familiarity.

Li Xiaofei took her soft, jade-like hand and said, “If I see you, I’ll only have to leave again. And after parting, who knows if I’ll ever get the chance to see you again... Seeing that you're living well, I didn’t want to disturb the life you have now.”

“Hypocrite,” Principal Hu gently scolded. “You’re not me. How would you know if I’m truly doing well? What, because you’ve been watching from the shadows, and saw me chatting and laughing with Anxin every day, saw that I’m eating well and dressed nicely—you thought that meant I’m happy? Did you ever see those countless lonely nights, lying awake in a cold room, turning restlessly with no one beside me?”

Li Xiaofei had no response.

Principal Hu continued, “I went searching for Anxin’s whereabouts back then. After finally finding her and handing her over to Si Xingyun and the others, I learned you had already left in a hurry. I came back here... and waited. I waited for so long. Now that you’ve finally returned, you only came to see whether or not I’m doing well?”

Li Xiaofei let out a bitter smile.

Principal Hu sighed softly, her tone no longer pressing or harsh, “When are you leaving?”

She looked at Li Xiaofei, her gaze filled with indescribable tenderness.

“In a few days,” Li Xiaofei replied.

Yes, a few days. He should have left long ago. His force-fed instructions to Li Junjie had already come to an end, but he hadn’t truly wanted to leave. Maybe it was because he wanted to watch Li Anxin a little longer and see her laugh joyfully each day.

Perhaps it was because he wanted to secretly catch another glimpse of Principal Hu, the woman who had left such an important mark on his life, now living like a radiant, blooming rose.

Or maybe... he simply didn’t want to say goodbye to his life here. He wanted to stay just one more day. He didn’t want to bid farewell.

Principal Hu stepped forward and wrapped her arm around his. “As long as you’re here, be my boyfriend for a few days. How about it?”

Li Xiaofei nodded. “Alright.”

And so, in the days that followed, Li Anxin became increasingly puzzled when her best friend, Hu Yuer, suddenly vanished. She couldn’t be reached, and all she received was a single message saying she had something to take care of. Li Anxin knew something was up.

“Be honest, did you fall in love or something?” Five days later, when she saw her best friend again, she couldn’t hold back her curiosity and immediately asked.

Hu Yuer simply pulled Li Anxin into a gentle embrace without saying a word. Before she realized it, tears had already begun to fall. That startled Li Anxin, who had only been joking moments before.

“What happened? Don’t cry. Whatever it is, tell me. I’ll stand by you,” Li Anxin said anxiously.

“I’m fine,” Hu Yuer replied with a tearful smile.

Yes. She was fine. Li Xiaofei had stayed with her for five days. Half of those days had been spent accompanying him from afar, watching Li Anxin laugh and live her life.

Even until the very end, Li Xiaofei never revealed himself to Anxin or said a single word to her. It was precisely because of this that Hu Yuer understood. She knew Li Xiaofei far too well. She had already guessed what he would do after he left.

'Will we meet again?' That question never left her lips because deep down, she already knew the answer. So even the words 'stay safe' remained unspoken.

Everyone hoped to return alive on the frontlines of the greatest battlefield, where life and death hung by a thread.

Safe? What did safety even mean to a warrior? So, the thousands of words she might have said were distilled into one final sentence, 'I’ll wait for you.'

I’ll wait for you for a thousand years, ten thousand years, until the very end of my life. Those four words outweighed a lifetime of conversation.

Then, Li Xiaofei left. He looked down on Chongque City from high above in outer space. Once, this place had been a vital hub for the destiny of the human race. Now, it had fulfilled its purpose. Much like the old oil fields of the northeast black soil, once a symbol of the Republic’s industrial glory, it would never truly wither. Li Xiaofei took one last lingering look, then with a flash of his figure in the void, he vanished.

It didn’t take long for Li Xiaofei to arrive at the outer regions of the Star Battlefield. He was now in the Xiao Kuang Star Region, the staging grounds of the Xiao Kuang Legion. It was from this region that the Yue Family's military faction had launched their assault on Chongque City.

Though the core forces of the Yue Family had already been executed at Chongque City, their treacherous ambitions had not died. They had still planted numerous spies throughout this area.

Death followed wherever Li Xiaofei passed. Flames of purification swept through the stars, burning away the sins of those who had betrayed humanity. He walked among the stars of the galaxy as flowers of death bloomed in silence behind him. A string of executions soon sent shockwaves through the region. The Xiao Kuang Legion was quickly alerted.

Not long after, their high-ranking officers appeared to intercept Li Xiaofei, blocking his path. The eyes of the entire star region landed on their confrontation. Many believed it would become an unprecedented clash of blood and fire. But in the end, the senior officers of the Xiao Kuang Legion silently retreated.

Li Xiaofei never broke stride. This outcome left countless onlookers stunned and bewildered. Speculation ran rampant; who was this mysterious executioner, this solitary slayer, that even the Xiao Kuang Legion chose not to oppose?

Questions spread like wildfire, but the killing did not stop. Soon, Li Xiaofei had walked across the entire Xiao Kuang Star Region. Countless cultivators, noble houses, and even military officials fell beneath his blade.

All of them were Eden’s infiltrators. Then, Li Xiaofei stepped deeper into the Star Battlefield. It was a vast and boundless cosmic domain. Everywhere, the echoes of fallen human heroes lingered.

“I’ve arrived,” Li Xiaofei whispered softly.

He had finally stepped onto the ultimate battlefield between humanity and the Reapers.
