Chapter 1694: Chapter 1694: His Whole World Is Only You 27

"Actually, I kind of hope my aunt has a son," Ding Jinshi suddenly said. "Otherwise, if it’s a younger sister, she might end up like me, growing up, getting married, and then there’s no one around to take care of them."

Ding Long smiled contentedly. Ding Jinshi had really grown up, and there was no longer the estrangement from his father as before, which is why he genuinely thought about the family.

Because it was the peak dining time, the service was slow. After finishing talking about the family matters with Ding Long, Ding Jinshi was idly watching around the shop but didn’t expect to see someone she rather not encounter.

Seeing the odd look in Ding Jinshi’s eyes, Ding Long followed her gaze and turned around. To his surprise, he saw Lan Li sitting five meters away by the window, dining with a woman. They seemed to have arrived before him and Ding Jinshi, as they already had food on their table, yet it looked like they weren’t very familiar, both eating quietly without much conversation.

Ding Long naturally thought it was a blind date.

He vaguely remembered mentioning it in a call with an old comrade, how the old political commissar from their unit had set up Lan Li. Unexpectedly, they ran into each other tonight.

"When did Lan Li return to the capital?" Ding Jinshi retracted her gaze uneasily.

"I don’t know." Ding Long truly hadn’t been keeping up with Lan Li’s affairs, so he couldn’t answer Ding Jinshi’s question.

Seeing Ding Jinshi had retracted her gaze and appeared calm and unaffected, Ding Long continued, "Isn’t it a blind date for Lan Li? Which means he’s preparing for marriage, right? Otherwise, with Lan Li’s character, how could he possibly go on a blind date?"

"Yeah, no one can force him to do what he doesn’t want to, and he’s an extremely responsible person. If he wasn’t thinking about marriage, why would he meet a girl?" Ding Jinshi’s tone had a hint of sarcasm. Ironically, such a responsible man had irresponsibly disappointed her feelings.

"Does it bother you?" Ding Long observed Ding Jinshi’s expressions, noting that she hid her feelings well, showing neither resentment nor sorrow on her face.

Ding Jinshi stiffly turned her face away, pretending to study the menu intently. It wasn’t until she heard Ding Long speaking to her that she looked up.

Ding Long asked her for a pen, and since Ding Jinshi had one in her bag, she handed it over. Before she could ask what he was up to, she saw him take out an empty invitation card from his coat pocket and started writing on it.

"Since we coincidentally met, let’s deliver the invitation in person," DIng Long returned the pen to Ding Jinshi after he finished writing.

"He’s not likely to come, so if you want to do something so pointless, do it yourself," Ding Jinshi sat still.

"Whether he comes or not is his decision. As childhood friends, we should extend the invitation. We can’t let Lin Chan and the others have invitations while excluding Lan Li, can we?" Ding Long whispered softly in Ding Jinshi’s ear, "Don’t you want to see Lan Li’s reaction?"

Ding Jinshi glanced up at Ding Long, and, as if under a spell, she followed Ding Long towards Lan Li.

By the window, Lan Li was visibly shocked by the sudden arrival of Ding Jinshi and Ding Long.
