Chapter 10 - Another World (I)
Almost a week had passed.
The encounter with Chisato had gone more smoothly than he expected. She didn't ask any questions about his change in appearance. Instead, her inquiries focused more on whether he was living a proper lifestyle or about his relationships.
Shinji also asked her about how she had been doing all this time they hadn't seen each other. When he found out that she had recently started working at the school as a doctor, he felt a little dumb—he had been so excited to see her that he hadn't even questioned why she was there in the first place.
They chatted for a while until Chisato received a phone call.
After exchanging contact numbers, they parted ways with the promise of meeting again another time.
Now, he found himself exploring the other world beyond the gate. He wanted to venture into the area surrounding the cabin.
Once again, Shinji realized that his title and abilities had absurd effects—specifically, the title [The One Who Has Crossed Between Worlds], which he had received when he passed through the gate.
First of all, thanks to this title, he could level up easily, and this applied to all levels; even skill levels increased at a rapid pace... or so he thought. He couldn't say for sure since he had no way to compare himself to others. He already thought it was incredible when he first read its effects, but the higher his level got, the more he realized just how ridiculous it was.
In terms of BP gained per level, the difference between him and the normal inhabitants of this world was tenfold. And even compared to other Earthlings who might visit, it was still five times higher. That alone was absurd.
Sure, he was growing stronger thanks to the sage's house and weapons, but he strongly felt that this title was giving him something even more significant. The title was amazing, but the skills themselves were incredibly useful in his world as well.
For example, the [Evaluation] skill allowed him to easily obtain information about anything—like finding the freshest vegetables in the supermarket. Meanwhile, the [Language Comprehension] skill enabled him to read, write, and even speak various foreign languages.
The titles and skills had undoubtedly had the biggest impact, but another strange thing that had happened involved the food ingredients growing in the field. He had been eating food that increased his stats, but as soon as he reached a certain level, his stats stopped rising.
Maybe there was a limit to how much his stats could be increased. But he didn't feel bad about it. Even if they didn't boost his stats anymore, the taste was just as delicious as ever.
(Otherwise, it would be too broken lol.)
He also tried the [Hell Slime Jelly], and it really did taste like coffee jelly. It was delicious.
By studying the book from the secondhand bookstore, he began moving his weapons properly, which led to [True Martial Arts] reaching level two before he even realized it. When he thought about how this was also thanks to the title [The One Who Has Crossed Between Worlds], he understood its power even better.
At level two of [True Martial Arts], he didn't feel any major changes compared to level one, but his weapon handling seemed a bit sharper. However, it was just a feeling—he had no way to test it.
Present Time
Driven by curiosity and his sense of adventure, Shinji ventured into the forest.
He was equipped with the [Bloodstained War Demon Series] gear, including the [Bloodstained War Demon Armor] and the [Bloodstained War Demon Gauntlet], along with the clothes the sage had left behind, which he always wore underneath his uniform. When he tried them on for the first time, they fit his body perfectly.
He also made sure to bring a Full Recovery Herb with him.
He was feeling pretty excited. His inner chuuni flared up, and he started striking battle poses. This lasted for a few minutes—after which, he felt utterly embarrassed.
Looking at the scenery outside, which should have been the same as when he saw it from inside the fence, he was stunned for a few seconds by how colorful it had become. As he gradually took it in, he walked forward with measured steps.
Even though he was planning to explore the area this time, he didn't have the courage to go too far. He would only venture as far as he could still see the house. After all, this was another world—it was only natural to be cautious, right?
He held the [Absolute Spear] as his weapon and moved forward, carefully observing his surroundings. It was his first time seeing the trees of the forest up close, and their leaves were unlike anything he had ever seen before. There were countless flowers in a rainbow of poisonous-looking colors, and even some that emitted a faint glow.
Seeing all this truly drove home the fact that he was in a different world.
As he admired the fantastical scenery, he suddenly sensed the presence of creatures. His [Presence Detection] skill must have been working.
Calming his breathing, he followed the creature's presence and saw it.
It was a creature resembling a child with green skin, dressed in tattered armor, with sharp eyes, a hooked nose, and some terrifyingly sharp fangs lined up in its mouth. Without being noticed by the creature, he used [Evaluation].
[Elite Goblin]
[Race: Goblin]
[Level: 120]
[Magic: 100]
[Attack: 1500]
[Defense: 1000]
[Agility: 1500]
[Intelligence: 100]
[Luck: 100]
Somehow, he had already guessed it was a goblin. But it wasn't a normal goblin—it was an elite. He supposed it was a high-class goblin.
Confirming that he was superior in terms of stats, a doubt crossed his mind at that moment.
What if goblins in this world weren't enemies of humans?
He had no knowledge of how the relationships between the various races in this world worked.
A Blood Ogre and a Hell Slime were the first to target him with murderous intent, and most importantly, they had tried to invade his garden, so it was easy to know they were enemies.
But if there was some kind of pact between the higher races of this world, then he would be responsible for any damage caused.
He felt like he might just be overthinking things, but since he wasn't sure, he decided to be cautious and avoid unnecessary problems and conflicts if possible. So, he tried to quietly slip away.
CRACK
Then he stepped on a tree branch beneath his foot, making a noise. When he timidly turned to look at the goblin, their eyes met.
Breaking the moment of silence, he spoke.
"U-Uh, hey!"
He began to babble incoherently.
"Great!"
The Elite Goblin came charging in, wielding a rusty sword.
Watching the goblin's movement, Shinji dodged the attack.
The Elite Goblin seemed a little surprised by his evasive maneuver. The tone of its babbling reflected its emotions, but it immediately attacked again to kill him.
At that moment, he understood—the goblin was, just as he expected, an enemy. That meant he wouldn't be in the wrong even if he killed it. So, as he wielded the [Absolute Spear], he recalled the contents of the book he had bought.
Actually, the book didn't explain how to hold a spear.
The purpose of the book was apparently just to help the reader adjust their posture to move more easily with some tips. Like being careful to push the spear outward while rotating when thrusting it. Those were the kinds of things written in there.
Well, it could be summarized as: "Spin it while you thrust."
Calmly watching the attacking Elite Goblin, he immediately saw that it was swinging its sword from the side. In other words, its head and lower body were completely exposed. Without overlooking this opening, he remained calm, using the spear's long reach, twisting not just with his arms but with his entire body.
Then, a spiraling wind wrapped around the [Absolute Spear] and pierced the Elite Goblin's forehead exactly as intended. The goblin managed to grunt in surprise. Even though it had only pierced its forehead, the spiraling wind surrounding the spear was too powerful—and blew the Elite Goblin's head off completely.
When he withdrew the spear, the Elite Goblin's head was already gone.
Its body staggered a few steps in place, spraying an enormous amount of blood, before finally disappearing into particles of light.
"Phew..."
For the first time, he truly felt the sensation of taking a life—through the spear, directly in his hands. But, strangely, his mind was calm. Of course, he still felt the weight of taking a life, so he understood the gravity of it. However, he was also clear that if he hadn't killed it, he would have been the one to die.
Because of that, he felt that his mind and body had naturally adapted.
That actually made him feel satisfied—because it meant he had the necessary mentality to face future enemies, whether in this world or in the DxD world.

"The drops are... [Magic Stone: Rank D], [High-Grade Demon Fang], and [High-Grade Demon Hide], huh?"
To be honest, the hide was disgusting, and as expected, he had no use for it. So, he just tossed everything into the [Item Box].
Looking at his armor, he smiled.
It was his first time using it in battle.
The result?
A flawless performance, without a doubt.
"Hmm... looks like my level didn't go up."
Even though he didn't level up, he felt that being able to practice the movement from that book against a real monster was a good thing. Moving his body in the garden was fine, but real combat was a completely different story. Regardless of the book's content, he was glad it had been a worthwhile purchase.
It was a different world, and his opponent was a monster, but Earth's martial arts could still be used effectively even here. So, he hoped to keep up that positive momentum.
"Alright, should I keep exploring?"
