Steampunk: Sixth Era Epic-Chapter 1038 Weeping Angel
Chapter 1038: Chapter 1038 Weeping Angel
Shard nodded and placed the box on the windowsill. Even if it was a cherished supernatural item, a demon creation must not be kept; it needed to be destroyed.
"I can see that your desire is not limited to this. What else do you want?"
The old musician asked again, and Shard thought for a moment:
"How about power? Just say anything, and people will follow suit."
The demon nodded, agreeing with this view, and handed Shard a golden cufflink from its sleeve:
"Wear this and then go speak in public. People will be convinced by your opinions and will follow you. Perhaps you can start at the tavern."
"Very nice."
Shard nodded again, catching a glimpse of Dr. Schneider already entering from the doorway. The doctor’s speed was much faster than his, and at this moment, he had already noticed who Shard was talking to.
"But your desire is still not just this. Speak openly, young man, what do you want most?"
The demon continued to ask with a smile.
Shard raised an eyebrow, looking at the window beside him. The room was bustling, but the night in Tobesk seemed very silent. In the reflection, he saw Dr. Schneider was very close, about twenty steps away, but simultaneously, he seemed to see a blurred figure flashing behind him:
"What I want most..."
Shard chuckled lightly, scratching his head awkwardly as he gave his answer:
"Of course, it’s beautiful women."
After saying so, hesitated for a moment, then added:
"Many beautiful women. I once confessed my sins to a priest in Coldwater Port; I like many beautiful women."
He said half-truthfully.
The demon showed an understanding expression:
"Yes, young men your age always think like this. Very nice, this desire is very nice."
This time, it dug out its left eye, handing the eye dripping with sticky black liquid to Shard. The eye socket, missing an eye, bled, but everyone around acted as if they hadn’t seen this scene:
"Place this eye in your socket, and any woman who meets your gaze will fall in love with you."
The one-eyed old musician clapped his hands, looking pleased:
"This way, your desire can be fulfilled."
But Shard did not take the eye, rather disdainful of the blood on it:
"I didn’t expect you’d be satisfied with just that. Did you think this was the extent of my desires?"
Shard asked with some dissatisfaction.
"Hmm?"
The ancient evil fiend looked up, surprised at the young man in front of him. The single remaining eye narrowed slightly, not concerned with the oddity in the other’s words, but rather more carefully probing the truth of the other’s desires:
"Is that not all of your desires? Interesting, greed, sloth, oh, and that frightening gluttonous desire."
The demon, spreading desire, looked at Shard in examination, seeing part of the truth, but soon noticed more things:
"What is that?"
It seemed to see another familiar figure from the body of the young man in front of it. After a brief thought, ancient memories automatically filled in the truth.
Shard thought it saw the Primal Fire, even divinity, but the demon saw something it hadn’t anticipated.
The laughing woman’s head, a mermaid tail composed of countless bare white limbs, and an existence that had devoured countless souls, to the point where it was the incarnation of extreme power itself— freeweɓnøvel~com
"[Desire]!"
The answer blurted out, an unbelievable answer that made the demon step back two steps, a look of panic appearing on the old musician’s face, something unimaginable for a demon:
"How can you have her power! Great Sin!"
As it finished speaking, it turned to flee but crashed into another person. With the demon’s power, it should have knocked aside any obstacle, but this time, it was knocked to the ground.
Shard supported it from behind, while the cold-faced Dr. Schneider approached and grabbed its hand:
"Finally found you."
The middle-aged doctor’s eyes, faintly glowing with red, said softly, his voice somewhat slick:
"This time, where are you planning to run?"
As soon as the doctor’s hand touched the old musician, the latter seemed to have all the strength drained from its body; if Shard hadn’t been supporting it, it would have immediately collapsed to the ground:
"You, you..."
No one noticed here, but in the doctor’s palm, the split mouth had already bitten onto the demon’s arm. Only Shard could hear the slurping sound, as the demon’s power was rapidly sucked out by the doctor.
"Do you think it’s over like this?"
The old musician squeezed out a voice with difficulty from his throat, his only remaining eye glaring fiercely at the doctor through the crimson glow:
"I am the demon of Desire... Proliferating Demon, do you think this is my only body?"
"I know, the other body is on the rooftop."
The doctor said softly, his expression not very serious:
"We’ll go find it soon, you can’t escape."
"I know you’re hunting me, now, let me tell you a secret."
Supported by Shard, the old musician came to the window, his eyes fixedly staring at the doctor:
"I have prepared a special gift for you, a Sage-Level Relic. Once this body of mine falls, the other body will release the relic on the rooftop, and you, none of you will be able to..."
Dr. Schneider expressionlessly reached out and broke its neck, then released his right hand:
"This wasn’t the main body, it seems to be smarter than I thought, the main body is upstairs."
Shard looked at the corpse of the old musician who had been dead for a week, placing it there as if peering at the night through the windowsill:
"A Sage-Level Relic..."
He sighed softly, the red glow in the doctor’s eyes flickered:
"A demon-polluted corpse, if not handled in time, will become a hotbed for other evil fiends. After dealing with this matter, write a letter to inform the Church. As for the relic..."
He looked up, as if through the floor, he could see the ancient evil fiend face to face:
"An ancient evil fiend having some strange things at hand is quite normal, let’s go, detective, to the rooftop. It hasn’t fled, it’s waiting for us."
The underground part of the Royal Festive Music Hall has one floor, the ground part has four floors. Because there’s an outdoor summer concert on the rooftop every year, when counting the top floor it actually should be five floors on ground level.
After leaving the dressing room on the second floor, under Dr. Schneider’s guidance, they continued walking east, hoping to reach the top floor directly through the stairs. While no one was around, the doctor lowered his voice and spoke to Shard under the gas lamp on the stairs:
"The opponent probably understands I also use demon’s power, so it’s highly likely they’ve arranged a relic specifically to counteract demons to deal with me, waiting for me to clash with the relic before deciding their next move. If possible later, I’ll still need you to block that relic."
Shard, carrying the violin case, nodded slightly, Sage-Level (Level 2) Relics are never to be underestimated, the only full force Sage-Level Relic he has encountered is the Fishbone Pirate Ship. But Fishbone Pirate Ship is actually quite powerful among Sage-Level Relics. If it’s a Sage-Level Relic specifically targeted against demons, Shard feels confident to try and block it.
The musicians have dedicated stairs for going upstairs to perform, the stairs the doctor and Shard were using for guests would hardly be used by idle people during performances.
Walking up the red carpet to the upper floor, they were being cautious but encountered no relics attacking them.
The door leading to the rooftop was locked with iron chains, but that didn’t stop the doctor from forcibly breaking the door lock. Reaching the rooftop, Victor Fanny was standing alone in the night, seemingly waiting for them.
Out of nowhere, snowflakes began to fall from the sky, growing heavier quickly. The snow from earlier this week on the rooftop hadn’t entirely melted, and a distinct line of footprints extended from the stairway entrance to the demon, and back from under the demon’s feet, clearly indicating someone had been there before Shard and the doctor.
Because it was snowing and the weather was overcast, combined with thick grey fog, almost no starlight could be seen in the starry sky, and even the moonlight was faint and hazy.
Bill Schneider gazed at the demon under the moonlight, while Shard looked at the grey angel statue standing in the shadow. The angel statue stood behind the demon, its head lowered, its hands covering its face, as if it were weeping.
[Outlander, you have come into contact with Whisper and Miracle.]
"Is this the relic?"
Angel statues as decorations are quite common in this era. But this one in front of him bore no hint of divinity, on the contrary, just standing there made one’s heart instinctively uneasy.
The Whisper Element was extremely fearsome, this relic was likely even among Angel-Level Relics one of the most dangerous.
The doctor at that moment had no time to focus on the statue, he looked at the demon in front of him and took a step forward:
"I’m surprised you didn’t flee."
"I too am surprised to encounter someone like you."
Victor Fanny, with a peculiar smile, also watched the doctor:
"I know you want to devour me, I even know what you truly are. But it doesn’t matter, none of it matters, your desire is equally delicious to me, you see me as prey, I also see you as prey."
The demon and the doctor who seals demons stood together in the snow, the former with the angel statue behind it, and the latter with the small violin case in the hands of the Outlander who inherited Demon Hunter gear from the Sixth Era behind him.
They were all watching one another, until the demon pointed to the ground:
"Tonight, with this concert hall as the stage, as a hunting ground, let’s see, who is truly the finest hunter."
The demon took a step back, and the seemingly lifeless angel statue with hands covering its face surprisingly slid forward a step on its own:
"The Sage-Level Relic, Weeping Angel."
It smiled at the doctor and said:
"I know you have confidence dealing with me, but this relic, how do you plan to handle it?"
